Cover Reveal for Boarding
I'm pleased to reveal the cover for Boarding, my upcoming novel due for release on July 19.
The heroine, Jessie Carter, kept prodding me to tell her story -- humorous, sentimental, and sexy.
The tagline came to me: True Friends are Life's Greatest Pleasure.

Guest author Friday
Both Dianne Hartsock and Raven McCallan are guest posting [is that a correct usage?] on my site today.
Dianne is touring with her release of Without Aiden while Raven is touring with her release Impulse.
Great to have both accomplished authors stop by.
Come by http://ddsymms.wordpress.com to say hello.

Boarding, the joy of in-depth character development
Boarding will release this summer with Breathless Press.
The story is a novel/novella and a prequel to my story Layover.
My thoughts on it evolved as I considered the character of Jessie Carter.
In Layover she has a kinky encounter during a layover at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
I thought, "what would motivate someone to do that?" And "what happened in her life and career prior to landing in Chicago?"
Hmm, her career launched when she had been in London for a design competition and landed for a few days in Manhattan on her way back home to Los Angeles.
I let several weeks pass and began the story a few times ... where was she in New York and who was she talking to?
She had a desire to work with one of the world's top models and she was meeting with his manager.
But the meeting was a shock and surprise. She hadn't expected it and she wasn't prepared for it.
I grew to love the character, her dilemma, and felt empathy for her.

My new release now on Kindle: Ms. Chanton's Castle series
Ms. Chanton's Castle: Threesome in the Study is now up on Amazon for Kindle. It's been quite a journey. This series will be one that I'll self-publish -- at least that's what I'm thinking for right now.
I've decided that self-pub can be a good way to go; however, I always see myself working with a publisher, too.
I've really enjoyed Breathless Press for my first three releases and I want to create additional stories/novellas in those as series.

Good grief, I still haven't gone through the author tutorial
I still haven't gone through the author tutorial on Goodreads. I meant to last September. But in the meantime, at least I'm posting.
I've been reading Three by Annie Dillard. Three of her books compiled into one. I saw a quote in one from her that she says it takes 2 years to 10 years to write a book.
Glad to know. Sometimes I feel the rush to write -- like an online content farm writer.Annie Dillard

The number of novels Nicholas Sparks reads
Nicholas Sparks, author of The Notebook, and several other novels that have been turned into films, never published his first two novels.
He also reads, or used to, about 100 novels per year. Impressive and that shows what someone means when they say you should read a lot.

Starting on Goodreads
I don't know if I'll ever find the balance between writing, promoting, and connecting with other writers and readers -- especially given the daily frenecity that consumes me and can drag me down ... but here I am! And I'm glad to be here, committed to reading the works of others and hoping to hear from those who read mine.
