MARDI GRAS has been cancelled in New Orleans ... this year

But in 1946, it has come back after

the 4 long War Years

And the undead can hardly wait

to walk among the living

hidden by their masks.

A mysteriously murdered

 woman is found

upon the cobblestones of

the infamous Pirates Alley,

disrupting the shooting of

Frank Capra's latest movie.

Twilight City,

starring Jimmy Stewart

and

Cesar Romero.

While in the Hotel Ponchatrain's

famed Caribbean Room,

the powerful party

as if there will be no tomorrow.

Which for some, there may not be

unless Lucas,

the former O.S.S. agent

now turned Prop Master,

prowls the shadows again.

Worse, he may lose not just his job,

but the life of the eerily resurrected woman

he thought lost to him forever.

For the deadly Santa Muerte

has a promise to keep

 to a Judas hiding among

the few people he trusts.

The audio book of this

is coming soon.

Tell your friends.

I could use a Mardi Gras

miracle!

MIDNIGHT'S Back!

Midnight is finally back!

He wants his old apartment back/

Me, too!

He's reading my latest

and wants the heater

turned up.

The receptionist asked for

$685!

She saw my eyes and

checked again.

Only $85!

I almost had a heart attack.

He's off now squirreled

in some nook of this apartment

taking a well-deserved nap

after 4 months of

vet prison.

The ghost of Mark Twain

is Happy.

Midnight is back on the

mantel where he belongs!

TUMBLED down 11 steps yesterday

The ghost of Mark Twain chided me

for trying to carry too much

up that 21 step staircase!

He said I was a writer not a mountaineer!

:Luckily, I broke no bones. I'm just stiff and sore.

I will just have to carry less and watch my step!
At 71 I don't bounce as well anymore.

Wish me luck in my new apartment and climbing those stairs.

I start back to work tomorrow ---
Here's hoping no onetakes my parking spotwhen I come late at night!

This complex goes on forever it seems.

Midnight comes backfrom the Vet Monday.

Moving Into A New Apartment ... at TWICE my last rent! IWSG post

Talk about insecure!

Livable apartments are almost impossible to find in this city

so those with them are asking for premium rents.

How I will pay this impossible rent, I do not know.

So if you have been tempted to buy one of my audio or paperbacks, or Kindle books ...

now would be a great time.

My two NOT SO INNOCENTS books are intriguing.

French Quarter Requiem is interesting, too.

But all of us are facing struggles and challenges this New Year.

"Perseverance is the hard work you do AFTER you get tired of doing the hard work you already did!"

 - Newt Grigrich

HOPE - that is what keeps so many of us going -- including me.

I can't promise things will change tomorrow ...

only that change is inevitable.

There can only be so many Jokers in a deck, right?

Change is the Nature of Life ... keep at it: something will come your way.

Focus on things you can control ... take a moment and breathe ... you can control your lungs ...
Celebrate what is good with your life.

Life is not a book ... we can't see how our problems will end ... only that they will, in some way, end.

Do something manageable and praise yourself for doing it.
Break things into small chunks of doable tasks.

Know why you started ... Know why you're in the fight to stay in the fight!

Remember if your dream is easy, you shouldn't be doing it.

Wish me luck in carrying what belongings I have up that second story staircase ...
As I will be wishing you luck in climbing to your dream.

A New Chapter To Our Lives

I would bet that no matter where we are now,

we had no clue at the start of this year that we would be here!

How we start a journey determines the mood of it and even sometimes the outcome of it.

Helping to ease others' hurt can often take our minds off our own ...

if not, then at least we've made our hurt the catalyst for someone's relief, right?

In some way, may beauty and magic touch each day of your New Year, my friends.

HAPPIER NEW YEAR!

THE OTHER SIDE OF CHRISTMAS

We think of what Christmas meant to Humanity

and what it means to us.

But do we think of what it meant to Jesus?

Between the womb and the tombwere decades cut off fromthe majesty of Heaven.
Years of weariness, loneliness, being so often misunderstoodby those closest to Him.

Why did He do it?

Listen to the tears of anguish

or

look into the happy face of a child

And why He chose the

other side of Christmas

might become clearer.

But that is just my

midnight  musings.

Make my Christmas Day  Brighter

and

Buy my latest audio book,

will you?

Oh,

Christmas Magic Has Its Work Cut Out For It

Three more of my coworkers have come down with Covid 19 ... a very scary time ...

especially if I re-catch it, I will have nowhere to live!

It does seem as if we are traveling by night ...
no matter the hour during these times, doesn't it?
(My 4th Dark Hollywood book if I can ever start work on it again!)

Yet Hope for better times urges us on.

These times are teaching us what really matters ... the people who travel with us ...
if only in their hearts and minds ...
friendships and shared laughter ...
even if only by Skype or phone.
(An actual gift label from London circa the 1900's)

The best Christmas gift we can give ourselvesis to learn the needful lessonstaught us by Covid-19

Merriest of Christmases, my friends!!

And if you could buy my Christmas fable,

it would mean so much to me.

FINALLY!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QR7MYHX
I channeled Charles Dickens and Stephen King to do my own New Orleans version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
I was afraid Christmas would come and go without Audible approving it because of their lack of QA listeners due to Covid-19.
Things have gotten crazier at the center with new equipment to learn,
upper echelon dignitaries finally deciding to inspect the damage here three months after the fact,
and the deadline for me to leave rushing at me.
Please, if you can, would you buy this audio book, give it a review,
and perhaps give it to others as a Christmas present to them and to me?

Thank you in advance ... and Merriest of Christmases!

WHERE ARE THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS?

I drive down formerly brightly Christmas-lit streets at night

with only a scattering of Christmas lights peppering the evening.

Even the street bordering the lake filled with the homes of the wealthy
are mostly dark when in the past, the lane was a wonderland of lights.

Our Civic Center has only a few surviving lights to meekly herald the season.

Perhaps my Banner Logo is now all too true:

"In a world full of Darkness,

YOU MUST BECOME

THE LIGHT YOU NEED"

ACX has said my latest audio book

has been headed to retail for the past month.

When my Christmas fable

does finally come out,

will you consider buying it?

No matter how lonely and hard your path,

may the true light of Christmas lead you home.

Have you noticed any change

in the Christmas Lights

in your town?
