Donate Your Used Kindle or Fire Tablet
Seeing as how there were lots of people who upgraded to a new version of the Kindle or Fire tablet platform since Prime Day, I thought it would be a great idea to pass on this idea again….
Many times, I am asked by people what to do with an older Kindle or Fire tablet sitting around collecting dust because the owner either upgraded to a newer model or just doesn’t use it any more. My normal response is to check around with a local charity, such as a shelter or literacy group in the person’s area as I am sure one of them would appreciate a Kindle or other eBook reader.
If you have a used Kindle, how about donating to The Kindle Classroom Project? The Kindle Classroom Project was founded in 2011 by schoolteacher Mark Isero, and was started to promote the love and power of reading among high school students in Oakland and San Francisco, California in the USA. The program now serves over 2,500 students: students receive a Kindle and access to a growing library of approximately 2,200 books 24 hours a day.

Phoenix Publishing offers one free eBook each month in a variety of eBook formats, including the Kindle; I’ve picked up a couple of really good science fiction novels from them for free that they simultaneously have for sale in the Amazon Kindle store for prices up to $9.99. This month’s free pick is Oath of Fealty, by Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle, which you should be pleased to note while this book costs $6.99 in the Amazon Kindle website, you can get it for free if you follow the instructions below.
You can pick up your free copy if you follow these instructions:
Point your web browser to https://www.publisherspick.com
Scroll down just a little bit and click on the “ADD TO CART” icon immediately underneath the book’s cover.
Your computer will next open up a new web browser, leading you to a checkout page. Change the price to 0.00, as this is a pay-what-you-want offering.
Click on any white space on the webpage.
Click the “Free Checkout” icon on the right-hand side of the page.
On the next page, fill out the requested information, then click the “Free Checkout” icon.
