Welcome Passionate Author Ursula Whistler

My Passion Isn't For Cooking
by Ursula Whistler
A short while ago, All Romance eBooks put a call out for recipes—passionate ones. Instantly, I thought of the chargrilled oysters that I cook up for friends and family at our fish camp in Mississippi. But, I doubted myself. Were they good enough? Was it too corny to put oysters in a cookbook by romance authors? Would anyone ever attempt it?
Then the last one...Would this mean that I would have to become passionate about cooking turning my blog and website into a mix of food and sexy excerpts?
Um, no. It's not going to happen. My passion isn't really into cooking. It's writing. It's creating stories and characters. I'm still doing that. Yet, I am going to try as many recipes in the Passionate Cooks recipe book (It's free. Get it!) and write about it.

I'm also planning on having a hero in a later story chargrill some oysters for the heroine. She'll scoff at this overt use of an aphrodisiac and give him a hard time. A little later, she'll succumb to his advances, unable to resist his kisses and caresses. After, he'll joke that he should cook those oysters every night.

Thank you Ursula for stopping by my blog.  I wish you much writing success and keep writing those sexy stories.

Welcome Passionate Cook Anna Alexander

Another Passionate Cook joins me on my blog today:

Anna Alexander

I’m “the cook” in the family. Not the only cook, but when it comes to holiday dinners, I’m the one up to my elbows in gravy and chopped vegetables. Last Christmas I spent three hours in the kitchen basting the ham, cooking the stuffing and roasting parsnips. That’s why I love desserts that are easy and can be made the day before.
A component of my Lip Lickin’ Lemon Tartlets found in the Passionate Cooks cookbook is the lemon curd. Five ingredients that can be cooked ahead of time and turned into many different desserts. One of my favorite dishes that uses lemon curd is trifle. A trifle is a layered dessert and when you make it in a glass dish, it’s beautiful as well.
The night before your special meal cut up an angel food or pound cake, homemade or store bought, and layer it in a glass dish with the lemon curd, whipped cream and fresh fruit. Want more flavor? Add Grand Marnier or vanilla extract to the whipped cream. Cover the dish and set it in the refrigerator overnight. That’s it!
Besides celebrating the release of the Passionate Cooks book, I am also rejoicing in the release of the latest installment in the Heroes of Saturn series, Hero Unleashed, from Ellora’s Cave. The heroine owns a restaurant and night club. If her chefs make lemon curd, I think she would be making a dessert of the more adult nature. Hmmm…that is a thought.

Blurb of Hero UnleashedPrincess Amaryllis should have been sad to be exiled from her home on the Saturn moon, but on Earth she finds freedoms she never imagined existed. She embraces her new home with big, open-mouthed kisses and establishes herself as a prominent business woman catering to the human’s most intimate desires.
When the former head of her father’s guard enters her domain, he not only rouses old insecurities but also a burning desire to see him lose the formal constraints and succumb to the promise in his command.
Lucian Kilsgaard was a warrior without a mission until he received word that an assassin had been sent to ensure the exiled princess does not return to reclaim the throne. He goes to warn the princess and instead of the unconfident, impulsive girl he remembers, he finds a bold temptress. How can he protect her when all he wants is to sink into her softness? He vows the line between protector and lover will never be crossed, yet Amaryllis will test his resolve until he takes exactly what he needs.
Author BioAnna Alexander’s literary world changed at age thirteen when a friend gave her Kathleen E. Woodiwiss’ A Rose in Winter. With her mind thoroughly blown, Anna decided that one day she too would become a romance novelist. With Hugh Jackman’s abs and Christopher Reeve’s blue eyes as inspiration, she loves spinning tales about superheroes finding love.
The Cloudy skies over her Pacific Northwest home give her plenty of opportunity to indulge in her passions, which are reading, writing and snuggling with a steaming cup of Irish coffee. Now if she could only find a hot Irishman to go with it, then life would be perfect. For more about Anna, you can find her at http://AnnaAlexander.net and purchase her book at:  http://www.jasminejade.com/p-10424-hero-unleashed.aspx
Thank you so much for visiting today, Anna.  You're dessert sounds wonderful and easy to make. I can't wait to try it out. I wish you much success with your new book, Hero Unleashed.

Welcome Passionate Cook Ute Carbone

Another Passionate Cook joins me on my blog today:

Ute Carbone
Over the past number of years, my husband has developed a passion for growing tomatoes. I can’t say I mind much, the end result is a crop of beautiful plums and big boys that we turn into marinara and bolognaise, with plenty left over for salads and sandwiches.
I love it when simple and delicious meet. Capri salad, the recipe I’ve included in Passionate Cooks, is the heart of simplicity—fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil with a bit of oil and vinegar. A big lot of scrumptious with a few ingredients.
The hero of my romantic comedy, The P-Town Queen, is a chef. No surprise there, I love a man who can cook!

Here’s a bit about the book—
Nikki Silva feels like she’s blown up her life even as her brothers tease her about blowing up a boat called the Mona Lisa. Divorced, funding for her shark research cut off, she’s moved back to Provincetown to live with her father in her childhood home. Nikki hopes to regain herself. She’s written a grant proposal for the newly formed Massachusetts Bay Commission to fund a study that will get her back to the sort of research she loves. The commission is run by her ex-husband Ned, who would rather have a migraine than give money to his ex-wife.

Marco Tornetti wants to turn a hole-in-the-wall Newark spaghetti joint into a trendy bistro. His silent partner, Fat Phil Lagosa, wants to use the place to meet questionable people for questionable business deals.  When Fat Phil accuses Marco of a double cross and has him taken for a ride by one of his hit men, Marco knows he’s in too deep.

Marco escapes the hit man and takes the first bus out of the Tri-state area, a bus chartered by the Greater Teaneck Gay Men’s Choir and headed for Provincetown. Marco  figures that Phil would never look for him in Provincetown‘s gay community. But when he meets Nikki and falls hard for her, he finds that pretending to be gay isn’t as easy as it would seem.

Welcome Passionate Cook Sharon Kleve

Another Passionate Cook joins me on my blog today:

Sharon Kleve was born and raised in Washington and currently lives on the Olympic Peninsula with her husband.
She loves romance. She loves reading romance, living romance, and especially loves writing about romance.
She gets no greater feeling than watching her characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, she loves giving her characters the happily ever after they deserve—with a few bumps and bruises along the way.
One of her favorite things to do is picking up a new book and sinking into the story, immersing herself in the emotions between the characters. She hopes to inspire her readers the same way her favorite authors have inspired her.
When not writing, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her cat and a good book, or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread or bagels.
Don't forget to try her 'Lip Smacking Pork Roulade' from your copy of the Passionate Cooks Cookbook:

Author of "The Corny Myers Series"Book One, Flamingo Blues, Published December 2011Book Two, Be Mine, Published February 2012Book Three, Klutzy Love, Published August 2012

Klutzy Love Blurb:
Corny is a hot chick with a great job that she loves. All that changed in the blink of an eye when her boss had an accident involving an oversized rubber band. She’s still a hot chick, but her boss is dead.
Steve Spears is a seasoned narcotics cop who ends up wanting to strangle Corny on a regular basis. After finding out Corny’s dream of opening a pet detective business, he decides he doesn’t want a girlfriend who routinely puts herself in danger. That’s his job!
Corny misses Steve, but she’s getting on with her life. She decides to get a month’s worth of dating out of the way in a single night, by combining her three favorite things—men, food, and alcohol.
Steve’s big gun and cop’s intuition saves Corny’s life, but not from another trip to the emergency room. He makes Corny promise never to get hurt again—she agreed, but has her fingers crossed behind her back.
Klutzy Love Excerpt:
I raised my salty-rimmed margarita, "Let's make a toast to Mr. Langfield; he was kind, kooky, and had poor taste in women."
"Here, here. God bless the silly romantic fool," Kitty cheered and twirled her hair around her finger.
"I second that," Brenda clinked her glass to ours and munched on chips and salsa.
After a sip from my drink my sexy-guy radar started to beep. I did a quick scan of the restaurant and spotted my target. I discreetly waved my hand above my head and said, "Target acquired... target acquired."
We laughed until we about peed our pants and then I leaned forward and quietly asked, "Do you think he heard me?" then giggled more. "I've seen my share of gorgeous men, but that guy is smok’n hot."
"Oh boy, is he ever," Kitty and Brenda said in unison and fanned their faces dramatically.
"He's been looking my way. I'm giving him my, 'you can buy me a drink' look."
All of a sudden Kitty rolled her eyes toward the bar and whispered, "Holy moly, he's coming this way."
Sure enough he made his way through the crowd on the dance floor towards our table. Before I hyperventilated from excitement, Kitty kicked me in the shin. "Thanks, I needed that." Kitty could be pretty levelheaded in stressful situations.

Welcome Passionate Cook Adrienne Davenport

Another Passionate Cook joins me on my blog today:

Adrienne Davenport

Though I have not always possessed an extreme love for cooking, over the course of the last few years--and certain personal experiences--I have gained a true enjoyment of the art. Passionate Cream Cheese and Passion Fruit Muffins, is not only a delicious recipe, it is the recipe that started this love. While in Australia participating in the Down Under Games that took place there, I spent at least five, directly after running practice, sitting in a café, eating one of these scrumptious muffins, and drinking a cup of fresh, hot coffee. I hope you will enjoy this recipe as much I do.
Passionate Cooks includes a fabulous variety of recipes, beginning with appetizers and stretching through the various genres. Besides this project, I have spent my time most recently working on a contemporary romance titled Stranger by Morning.  Now available for purchase, Stranger By Morning is a thrilling story, filled with passion and adventure, stretched across the background of many different countries and settings.
When Chicago Times reporter, Reese Donavon set out for India, determined to investigate the case of a nationally acclaimed felon, she'd expected a cloud of peril to eclipse her expedition. Had she known just how close to home it would linger, she would have arrived far better prepared. Now she finds herself alone, in a luxuriously appointed Hindi suite, at the mercy of the very man she came to India in search of. Left with no choice but to either become his partner or risk losing her life, she readily agrees to the stranger's demands. As she follows him across oceans and countries she finds herself slowly falling further and further under his spell. Now, as uncertain of his real motives as she is her own feelings, she discovers the greatest danger of all lies not in the fear of losing her life, but rather in the the fear of losing her heart...

Passionate Cooks and Michelle Hughes

"Thank you so much for allowing me to visit your blog today.  I am so excited to be a part of Passionate Cooks! "

As a Southern Woman, I was taught to cook at an early age and food has always been a big part of our huge family gatherings.  I'm also a mother to five wonderful children, so there are those nights when I needed a quick family dinner and the recipe I've included, Steamy Stuffed Shrimp, was always one I could use when I didn't have the time I needed to prepare a full meal.  This dish is very simple, but at the same time filling.  It works well as an appetizer, and for game nights.
There are many great quick meals included in Passionate Cooks, and some incredible authors behind each recipe.  I hope you'll take the time to get to know all of them.  I'd like to talk a little more about my current project while I have your attention.  We released 10 Nights at the beginning of September and have been just been blown away by the response from readers.  Karl Jones, my co-author, has written several incredible thrillers, and I was very lucky to have him accept my offer to co-write our newest book.
In 10 Nights we follow recent college-graduate Leah on her journey of sexual discovery as she meets Rhett Hammond, Millionaire business executive.  He offers her ten nights of sexy fantasies and introduces her to a lifestyle that may challenge everything she believed herself capable of.  It's a steamy romance filled with drama and spicy love scenes.  I hope you'll take a moment to visit Amazon and pick it up.

What reviewers are saying about 10 Nights
"WOW!!! This makes Fifty Shades read like a Disney story! (Dawn)
OMG I couldn't put my kindle down. 10 nights IS what I imagine BDSM to be. And the end of the book I didn't want it to end.  (Kami)
"As much as I liked Fifty Shades, this story makes Christian and Ana's relationship seem almost....vanilla, if you will. Very intense, very gripping" (Nancy)
"Those ten nights were some of the most erotic situations I've ever read about and I admit I was shocked at how in-depth those scenes were." (Susan)
Author Comments:  10 Nights is a book that goes deeper down the rabbit hole, if you will, concerning the lifestyle of BDSM.  This book was written to garner strong emotional responses from the readers and there's very little sugar coating involved.  Rhett Hammond is the ultimate alpha male and his relationship with Leah is often overwhelming both physically and emotionally.  The premise was to take a completely uninitiated woman, not only in the lifestyle but in sexuality in general, and expose her to his world at a pace that will overwhelm her senses.
Stop by our site, Tears of Crimson, to discover more about 10 Nights and the authors at www.tearsofcrimson.com

Rhett gives Leah a crash course in passion with ten nights of some of the most popular fantasies that women have.  With those nights is his Dominant nature that combines to make them some of the most memorable scenes.  Passion, drama, and erotic romance—it's not just a promotional statement, it's what 10 Nights encompasses.

250 Word Flash Fiction Sept 22, 2012

Flash Fiction Challenge: Feeding Frenzy

It was a snowy Sunday, quite chilly, but it was his day to feed the seagulls. Feeding the birds once a week was the peaceful, relaxing stage of his life he enjoyed since the day he retired from commercial fishing almost 20 years ago. And at the age of 77, it was his one day he looked forward to out of his days living in the Pioneer Home. Although it was a slow walk and many painful steps across the street to get to his usual bench at the edge of the harbor, he would feed them come hell or high water, rain or shine, snow or wind.It relaxed him so much, sometimes he would fall asleep, until the Seagulls got restless and flew away. But on other days, they would come closer to him and take food right out of his hands. He often wondered if some of them remembered him from his days at sea on his boat—the Odette—when he fed them crab and shrimp scraps; he hated any part of food to go to waste. He wondered if he would be wasted. This particular day was bad for his aches and pains. He wondered how long he would be able to stay. Suddenly, something startled them, scaring and alerting him to sit very still, scarecrow-like because all the birds landed on his whole body. They must have known it was his last day; he was ready to be recycled to the sea he loved.

Please Welcome Elizabeth Black

Thank you, Elizabeth, for joining me on my blog so we can learn about you and how you got into writing, and everything or anything else you would like your readers to know about you.  Before we get started, would you like to give us a quick list of all your books available for purchase and where we might find them? The best places to find my books are on my web site or on my Amazon Author page. My web site includes my short stories, which are a bit harder to find on the Amazon Author page. Here are the links:http://elizabethablack.blogspot.com/https://www.amazon.com/author/elizabethblack
When did you first start writing? Or how did you get into writing; was it something you have always wanted to do?I have always written one thing or another. I didn't seriously consider writing as a profession until about fifteen years ago. I started out as a political writer. Fiction didn't come to me until recently; only about five years ago.
When did you publish your first work? Non-fiction in 1996. Fiction in 2007.
Do you have your books in print as well as in ebook format? Most of the anthologies in which my stories appear are in print. Those books are published by Xcite Books in the U. K. My only print novel is "An Unexpected Guest". That one is also available as an ebook. Whilst not all of my books are in print, all are in ebook format.
How do you feel about the formatting process with print and/or ebook?  Do you do your own and if not, how do you get help for this to be accomplished? LOL that's an issue I'm tackling now since I'm experimenting with self-publishing. From what I'm gathering, there's a bit of a learning curve but it seems to be fairly easy to do. My husband is helping me with the formatting for self-publishing. I couldn't do it on my own, not yet anyway.
Do you have any advice for a person wanting to get their book(s) published?Read as much classic literature as you can. Also read more modern literature that is written well.  Learn from what you read. I try to avoid poorly written books no matter how popular because you can learn many bad habits from them. That said, you may want to read those kinds of books to see what people are enjoying in addition to the well-written stuff. Look for submission calls such as those at the Erotic Readers And Writers Association so you stay in the loop regarding what kinds of stories publishers are seeking. Always have something out there, whether it's a short story or a novel. The best promotion is a new book.
How can your readers find you? Here are pertinent links:Elizabeth Black - Blog and Web Sitehttp://elizabethablack.blogspot.com/

Lizzie's Sexy Newsletterhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/LizziesSexyNewsletter
What do you do to get your books out to readers?  Do you spend a lot of time on promotion and social media?I love Facebook so you'll find me there most weekday mornings and some afternoons. I'm also on Twitter although I don't follow that one as much. I sometimes do blog hops and blog tours so you may find me on various reader blogs. I do my best to answer any messages I receive although I may take a day or two to get back to you. I do spend a lot of time on Facebook but I spend more time working on fiction so it evens out.
What are you working on now?  Any book(s) you are working on now you’d like to tell us about and when we can expect to see it published?I'm self-publishing two erotic retellings of fairy tales. "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" is an erotic retelling of Puss In Boots. "Climbing Her Tower" is an erotic retelling of Rapunzel. I expect to release both books at the end of September (or early October at the latest). My works in progress include "Sharon Craig Has A Threesome", a ménage/bondage novel and "Hell Time", a dark fantasy novel. I'm also collaborating with a science fiction writer on a short fantasy story we hope to see published in a major magazine in the winter.
What do you do to relax? I watch horror movies! It's hard finding a good horror movie let alone a scary one. I don’t like slice and dice slasher films because they bore me, but sadly most horror movies these days are dreck. I like the classics like "The Woman In Black" (original and remake), "The Haunting", "The Legend Of Hell House", "Quatermass and the Pit", Hammer films starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, Asian horror films like "One Missed Call", "Dark Water", and "The Ring" series, as well as "The Changeling", "The Devil's Backbone", "Repulsion", "Pan's Labyrinth", and "The Orphanage". I also go for walks in the neighborhood or on the beaches near my home to relax and run plot lines through my head. Another favorite activity is gardening, although I can't do as much of that in an apartment as I'd like to do. I have an herb garden next to my living room and bedroom windows. I'm growing basil, three varieties of mint, two varieties of thyme and sage, rosemary, chamomile, lemon verbena, bay, and an avocado tree. I cook with most of them.
How do you handle stress or writers block?I don't have much stress in my life so that's not an issue. I don't often get writer's block. When I do, there's usually a good reason for it, like I'm not in the mood to write or I haven't thought out the storyline well enough yet to sit down and write. I distract myself by going for walks on the beach to clear my head or I listen to music whilst reading a book. Reading a good book helps rid myself of any writer's block I may have. Procrastination is a bigger problem for me than writer's block.
Oh yes, procrastination is a huge one for me as well.
Do you have a Youtube video trailer for your books? Do you make them or do you have someone else?I've never made Youtube video trailers for my books. I've thought about having them made but I haven't given them much consideration.
Do you have a favorite character from one of your books?Yes, Tita from "Trouble In Thigh High Boots". She's quite a saucy little wench who knows how to get what she needs to get ahead in her life. She's a take-charge type of woman who won't accept failure as an answer. Another favorite of mine is Catherine Stone from "Don't Call Me Baby". She's another woman who strives for what she wants out of her life. In her case, she seeks sexual freedom and exploration, and she doesn't abide double-standards. "Don't Call Me Baby" is available at major ebook retailers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and AllRomanceeBooks. I expect to release "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" by the end of September. I'm self-publishing that book.
Favorite food?Any kind of seafood, especially mollusks. And lobster. Here in Massachusetts we call them "bugs". It's fitting. LOL I grew up in Maryland so I ate steamed blue crabs all the time. I could live on seafood for the rest of my life if push came to shove.
Living in Alaska we had lots of seafood, except one of my favorites you have: Lobster.  Now living in Idaho, there isn't much and it is expensive.
Favorite color?Caution Orange? Gangreen? Black vomit (It's an ebola thing. Look it up. LOL). Metalflake red and metalflake yellow - those are the colors I want on the VW Baja Bug I'm going to buy someday. My favorite color to wear is black, since I used to work as a stagehand. I wore stage blacks everywhere and the habit just stuck.
Actually, I am partial to black myself; almost everything I own is black or dark purple and black makes you look slimmer, doesn't it?
Do you have a favorite life saying you live by?It's in my email signature: Take care of luxuries and the necessities will take care of themselves, by Dorothy Parker. She was a real wit.
Thank you.
You're welcome, Elizabeth and thank you so much for chatting with me today and I wish you much success in your writing career.

250 word flash fiction short from Sep 15, 2012

Flash Fiction Challenge: Playhouse Poltergeist
It was always the same for her—first the anticipation, then the guilt, and lastly the shame of messing up her lines or missing a dance step—all because he was there…again! Like he had been night after night sitting in the sealed box observing her. Or was he watching everyone; it was hard to tell who he had under surveillance, but she felt his devil-like eyes were focused only on her. Her nervousness would not go away until the show was over, the curtains were closed, and she had left the stage. No longer could she see him and determine if he was real or not.Until a new keenness, an awareness she had not expected exposed itself in her already frayed and raw nerves. He was there, in her dressing room, waiting for her; she thought she might faint. She did not know this man—if he was a man, and she did not know what he wanted of her.“May I ask,” she started, taking a few steps inside, “what do you want of me?”“Come, close the door and we shall talk,” he said in a hushed whisper. Was this the way it was to be? A command from a man who looked…not real, out of this world…a man who her mother said looked like her father. But it couldn’t be because he was dead and she had never met him…until now and he said her name, “Jacqueline, my daughter, its time, I’ve come for you!”
