Surrounded by many, and yet still all alone…
How many times have I heard it from people on Facebook? I’m in a crowd of people and still feel so alone. I AM one of those people. Always have been, and I guess always will be. Unfortunately, I come to friendships and circles of friends a tad too late to be considered anybody’s best friend. Someone always occupies that spacealready. How dare I even consider trying to be more than just a runner-up? How dare I even hope that there’s room in someone’s heart for more than one best friend?
It may...

Our Children Under Cover…
I am an educator. I teach children the skills to be literate, math literate, scientifically literate, geographically literate, and socially literate. I am teacher, counselor, friend, parent, and bodyguard to 120 students every year. That’s right. In the wake of nearly weekly school shootings, every day that I step foot in my school, I am signing on to be my students’ protector. I do it gladly, hopeful that my own children’s teachers feel the same. What is happening across America, an all-out...

Goodbye to the Best Imaginary Friend, Drop Dead Fred…
I just found out that Rick Mayall passed away. I’m heartbroken. Why? He played a role I shall never, ever forget as long as I live- DRop Dead Fred. I remember when the movie, DROP DEAD FRED, first came out. I’d seen it at a drive-in double feature with Don’t Tell Momma The Babysitter’s Dead. For me, DDF is an iconic film. Deliciously quirky, all out hilarity, and a healthy dose of tearjerker moments as our heroine learns about herself and takes a stand.
I never had an imaginary friend. I would...

Arizona Dreamin’ Memories…
I can’t believe it! Arizona Dreamin’ 2014 is… OVER. We spent a year planning a weekend event, and like a Thanksgiving dinner that takes all day to make and is gone in 20 minutes, so too, has Arizona Dreamin’ come and gone in the blink of an eye. The planning was so much fun… the meetings with buddies, the sharing of ideas to make AD even stronger, the knowledge that our friends would be returning for more fun and frolic.
Teaching how to craft dark moments at Buildin’ the Dream was so much funa...
