Truck Splits to Enya
1) Truck Splits to Enya would be a great weirdo garage band name. Imagine a kind of peg-jeaned band with throw-back mod hair and a retro-amusing take on synthesizers.
2) I asked you for funny cat videos and no huggings, and OH did you respond. I have seen EPIC cat videos, including one where these two cats FIGHT and 2 pigeons pick a cat team and fight on his side to help WITH NO IRONY. Pigeons do not GET irony. These two pigeons DO get to strike a blow for all bird-kind as they beat the crap o...

The Mommy Dog in the Meadow
DO DOGS BELONG ON THE TABLE? (hint: no)
So, we know from Monday’s blog that there is nothing to see here, right? Just a harmless little box with giant mammals and continents on it, sitting in the middle of the springiest spring meadow that ever sprung. TRA LA.And it is genuinely a NICE meadow, Beloveds, here 6 days from the release. There are some charming little rabbits and deers in it that are making me quite happy and hopeful.
One deer is named, “SOMEONE ELSE’S LOVE STORY is the SHE READS...

The Preemptive Big Sad Retrospective

With a deft wit and a series of stellar twists, Jackson creates a conventional love story that is also something more: an exploration of what draws people together, and pushes them apart; a commentary on faith’s ability to unite or divide; and a reminder that “death brushing past makes people hungry to connect to other people.” …Jackson’s roller-coaster love story will leave the reader both thoroughly sated and hungry for more. –PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY
I want to ask about your biggest Big Sad, but...

Blogstagram: A Celebration of Yogaween in Pictures
This is one of my favorite yoga teachers on the planet, Astrid Santana.
I missed the class where she asked folks to come to class in costume in honor of Yogaween.
She taught in this rig – which if you were raised in a BOX and are thus not familiar with this iconic female superhero, I will help you out by explaining she obviously is dressed as a Second Wave Feminist Emanation of the Goddess Durga.
Baha! A little #yogadork humor there. (Don’t feel bad, I thought she was Wonder Woman at first, too…...

Death by France-y Pants
The Virtual Book Tour is still happening, all the way up to the evening of November 19th.
Remember my France-y pants? These are magic writing fantasy pants I found dumpster diving in Avignon? They are PINK and TERRIBLY UGLY and flop-tastic and you could fit in them with me and we wouldn’t even have to TOUCH, this is how huge and free-floatingly awesome they are.
When it is time to write, I put them on and start playing Regina Spektor—
OH WAIT! I forgot to tell you. I LIKE A MUSICIAN. This is ne...

Oh Frabjous Day
They are here and made of fresh paper and they exist. THEY SMELL GOOD. They smell like real true books. I know so many of you have converted to the one true church of e-book, and fine! More power to you! But OH, I love the book as CONCRETE NOUN.
I love especially MY book as concrete noun.
Look there on my mantel, propped up by the pretty vase my friend Terra gave me. I made BOTH those things inside my brain, and THEY ARE GOOD THINGS. It is always such a surprise and a delight when my brain ma...

Suicidal Wormsphabet
The other week, the weather turned here in Georgia. It made the worms, turn, too.
Scott and I decided to take the dogs out and found ourselves walking into a worm-abattoir of horror. The cool rainy October night before had fooled a bunch of earthworms into meandering out onto the asphalt and sidewalk and the gravel driveways. Come morning, they had all baked and died.
It was just awful. Literally thousands upon thousands of suicided earthworms, each in a squirmful rictus, each making its own...
