I opened my flist this morning to discover that bunches of my friends have many aches and pains. Since I'm that way inclined myself (I intend to defeat it by spending time with friends) I wonder if we should pool our various bodily hurts and create a monster. What sort of monster would it be? What do we get it to do? To scare or not to scare: this is the question.

I'm supposed to be winding up. I have course propsals to do and a bunch of handouts to put together and even some articles to write. Instead, my brain is in 'calm before storm' mode and besides, I have a cold. I took today as a weekend day, since my weekends tend to be work days. I planned to do much, but nothing actually eventuated. I blame all the sneezing.
All I've done today is read a book (Sookie Stackhouse - it's for one of my articles, but really, it's because it's fun), do all my l...

I've lost a busload of commas. I left them in a safe place and now they're gone. I find my comma'd text littered with inappropriate apostrophe's. Would whoever took my commas' please return them and take the inappropriate apostrophes' back.
I promise not to retaliate if you do this within the next twenty-four hour's. If, in twenty-four hours', my pro'se is not restored to its pristine self, then I shall discover the culprit and replace all fullstops and ellipses with those Spanish exclam...

In case you see me round about, I'm wearing scarves for a bit because a friend is having chemo. She didn't want sympathy so I proferred solidarity. When I put today's scarf on (it's slender and peacock blue) I realised I have several friends undergoing chemo. I'm thinking of all of you.

I'm spending today with writerly friends. The aim is to get much written and also to enjoy ourselves. My personal aim is to catch up on some of the things (mostly editing) that have been held up by the health stuff and also to see if I can find a way of doing a day's continuoous work without my eyes going too funky. Mostly, though, I'm looking forward to time with friends.

The real action for Women's History Month is Australia is in the official place. Harvest history! (yes, I made a pun - live with it)

Women's History Month - the first post - definitions
Sometimes popular discussion of women's issues gets bogged down in daftness. I find this amusing when I'm in a good mood and annoying when I'm in an irked mood. There are dangerous patterns to daftness, though. The extreme form can be seen (neatly digested into a handy list of ten) here or another form (no list of ten) here.
I was going to write a highly polemical post today to get my Women's History Month posts off to an exciting start. I was going to talk about why it doesn't really help...

I've decided I don't have any secret projects or even sekrit projects. This is because so many people in my vicinity are talking about secret/sekrit projects.
When all these projects began not being announced, I found it entertaining. I wondered what each project could be. I speculated. I waited for the next bulletin. All the next bulletins told me were "I did lots of work." I was ready and waiting for interesting bits and alas, there were none. No funny stories. No sadness. No trem...
