You Were Created to Plant Seeds, Not Build Monuments

“Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.” Ecclesiastes 11:6 One seed in the ground is worth far more than a bushel … Continue reading →

Can Prayer be a Distraction?

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven… A time to tear down and a time to build up… A time to be quiet and a time to speak.” Ecclesiastes 3:1,3,7 Sometimes, what’s obvious is … Continue reading →

When You Forget What God Says About You

Jesus: “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.” John 15:9 Do you believe what God says about you? That you’re the apple of His eye? That you make Him dance and … Continue reading →

Diving Back In

“How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house; and You cause them to drink … Continue reading →

Perfect Tension

“The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he … Continue reading →

“For Me”

“But I will raise up for Myself

a faithful priest who will do

according to what is in

My heart and in My soul;
and I will build him an enduring house,

and he will walk before My anointed always.”

I Samuel 2:35
for Me You know those days when you ask Why?’

‘Why am I doing this?’

Those days when

the task seems bigger than it did yesterday.

the goal seems a bit fuzzy.

energy is waning and you just want to sit down.

I had one of those days last week. I was tired — mentally, physically, emotionally tired.

This year h...

Self-surgery

“Be still in the presence of the LORD,

and wait patiently for Him to act…”

Psalm 37:7

Self-surgery

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is be still.

Don’t move or speak or even think if it takes you down a rabbit trail of answers and questions and answers and questions. Those spirals may lead somewhere eventually, but the cost far out-weighs the benefit.

No, sometimes your best input is to rest.

To trust.

To listen.

To soak in the words and works and faithfulness of Another.

I’ve learned this through exp...

God, the Builder

“Every house is built and furnished by someone,
but the Builder of all things

and the Furnisher

[of the entire equipment of all things]

is God.”

Hebrews 3:4 AMP
God the Builder Building a home excites me.

From wish lists to the smell of cut lumber to filling kitchen cupboards, I enjoy every stage of construction. It speaks of new beginnings, fresh vision, and team work.

Matt and I have built two homes in the last 24 years. Both took all of our time, energy, and resources. Both drew us to physical and emotional limit...

Song of Spring

“For everything there is a season,

a time for every activity under heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1
drifter Long weary winter and valleys so dry

Give way to springtime, newness and life

Laughter and harmony sprout up from my tears

Promise and legacy before me appears
Now I’m running - jumping

Swimming in meadows of love

Yes, I’m crying - laughing

Singing to the One I trust
Joy and sorrow – both divine

Bring me closer than my mind can comprehend

Oh, You’re everywhere - everywhere

Your mercy is falling on me

Now I’m run...

A Far Greater Purpose

“I am torn between the two:

I desire to depart and be with Christ,

which is better by far;
but it is more necessary for you

that I remain in the body.”

Philippians 1:23-24
torn Sometimes there are no words. Only silence.

Silent pain. Silent disbelief. Silent horror. Silent prayer.

My husband, Matt, and I don’t watch TV so I see far less news and entertainment than most, but often what I see or hear is enough to make me pause.

How does the earth hold up under the agony and torment of so many? How can billio...
