Get a free ebook from me for a couple minutes of your time

I wouldn’t normally do something like this. I ask kindly in some of my ebooks for readers to leave a review if they’re so inclined, but I never beg or bribe or pay for them. It’s cheap. Like a cheap pair of panty hose stretched over an unshaven leg. It runs and tears and starts to smell and you’re left looking like a fool. Even in your new sparkly red pumps. Which, by the way, do go great with that clutch. I stand corrected on that, I guess. Wait, where was I?

Oh yeah. Asking for reviews. Well, here I go, and I’ve decided bribery works best. If you’ve read THE SUMMER I DIED, and haven’t left a review specifically on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, would you be so kind as to pop on over there and leave a review, however short it may be. I’m going to make it worth your while, I promise. I’m trying to generate some more reviews for the sake of the upcoming movie. Since anyone buying the book now will see that the movie version is coming out, and we can start generating a lot of buzz. Also, because I’ve heard the production team is putting together packages for additional financiers, and including a TON of reviews will definitely help with greater funding.

In return I’m paying you off! I will send you a FREE kindle/nook/ereader book of your choice from my catalogue. Salticidae, Ratings Game, Scraps & Chum, Hissers, Born to Bleed, even novellas like Choose, With a Face of Golden Pleasure, and Enemy Unseen. FREE!
Just email me the link to your review and tell me what book you want and I’ll send it.

“But I already left a review of the book on Amazon. I didn’t get a free book, you jerk!” What do you think I am, some kind of savage? Of course this is retroactive. If you’ve left a review on amazon for The Summer I Died point it out to me and you too will get a free book.

“I left a review for you on Goodreads. It’s six paragraphs long!” Well cut and paste that baby to Amazon.com and a free book is yours.

“But I only gave it two stars on Goodreads.” Doesn’t matter, you took the time to review it there so you still get a book if you get one on Amazon.

“I hated your book. I’m one of the jerks who gave you a one star review on another site and attacked you personally.” I’m not gonna lie, that 1 star review isn’t really helping this movie get out there, and I don’t think I’ve read a 1 star review that didn’t attack me personally somehow… but I suppose if you want to repost it, you’ll qualify too. If for no other reason than maybe I can sway you with a less gorier book. (But really, if you could refrain, I’d love you more.)

“How long is this offer good for?” Um….Hulahoop. Wait no, wrong answer. I meant it’s good for as long as this blog entry it up.

So that’s the deal people, review THE SUMMER I DIED on Amazon and get a freebie in return. It’ll only take a couple minutes. Thank you for all your support and long live the French Toast Killer Robots!

The Summer I Died movie update

It looks like I'm going to close on this deal very soon. I met with the director of the upcoming film American Girls and the acting manager of the shows Walking Dead and Person of Interest. I won't announce any specifics just yet as to the film company name or actors attached but I will say I'm very happy with how things are going. The budget is big enough to do this right and everyone attached is excited. There are actors and actresses still being approached with the book that I'm pretty darn psyched to have playing these characters--many of whom I grew up watching in some of my favorite films. They may not be household names, per se, like Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, but you should know who they are, especially if you like horror films. There are two potential actors lined up for Skinnyman already, one of whom I'm a big fan of, and one who I've never seen before but he does have a bunch of notable horror films on Netflix that I'm gonna watch. The role of Jamie seems to be pretty much cast already with an actress I remember watching on TV years ago when she was a little kid. So That's kind of cool. Roger and Tooth are going to be cast from relative unknowns. The Director wants this so that the audience can get to know them the way the book builds them up. I will have more details as they unfold.

No More Author's Preferred Edition

Hi all. Quick note for anyone wondering what happened to The Summer I Died: Author's Preferred Edition. We changed the title back to just reflect the original book. There are not enough big changes for me to justify people buying it twice. Yes the new one has some stuff added back in, but you probably wouldn't notice if you read the Coscom Entertainment edition. So again, if you read it before, there's no major changes worth rebuying for. Still, I hope you buy it. And I'm meeting with some real film peeps tomorrow to discuss the movie deal. Fingers crossed.

Summer I died / Born to Bleed out of print temporarily

These two books are moving to a new publisher. They will be out if print for a couple weeks but will definitely be up again ASAP. You will probably still be able to purchase copies online for a few more days till retailers get around to removing them. Ill post when they're back up. Thanks!

The Summer I Died movie?!

Recently I've been getting a lot of emails from independent film studios that want to buy the rights to THE SUMMER I DIED. First off, I need to thank everyone here for the amazing reviews. I have no doubt they are a major contributing factor in its visibility, and I hope more keep coming in so that one of the movie deals can happen, even if it's not right now.

That being said I am approaching each inquiry with caution. I realize it would be easy to take a chunk of cash and just hand over the rights, but as these characters are my babies, and I have more novels to go involving Roger (and Tooth) I want to make sure that whoever films the book gets it right. I currently have two that I am in somewhat deeper talks with than the others.

I will be continuing to talk to these companies for the next few weeks, and trying to figure out which one will fit best. I will be asking to see previous movies by each studio and director to make sure their style is appropriate (I don't want some low budget shot-on-bad-video movie). So far each studio has shown themselves to be competent and understand the genre. I've seen one of the director's movies on Netflix, and it was pretty entertaining.

That being said I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on what they'd like to see in a movie version of the book. Do you even think this can be pulled off as a movie, and would you see a movie version of it if we can iron out a solid deal?
