I remember blogging about this a few months ago- worth bringing back on the radar. 2D animation, still alive and well in Europe too!

Hey Leigh! If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?

J.K. Rowling’s world of the Harry Potter series. There are worlds I’d like to see—Arrakis, Westeros, Ingary—and characters from other works I’d like to meet. But when I think about where I could actually live and be happy, I think of wandering around Hogwarts or sipping butterbeer in Hogsmeade or working at a shop in Diagon Alley, or I don’t know, chasing a white peacock around the Malfoys’ yard.

For all its dangers, that world is so welcoming and full of whimsy and comfort. Sigh. Let’s go there now.

Alina and Mal in happier times.

Today’s Mal-centric reblog: This is easily one of my favorite pieces of fanart ever. I know some people were upset that both Mal and Alina have red hair, but 1. I think the palette of the piece works beautifully and 2. Honestly, Irene could give them blue hair for all I care. That’s not what matters here.

When I look at this, I don’t see two gingers. I see Mal and Alina, orphans and refugees with no one else to rely on. I see two kids who mean the world to each other. There’s so much happening in their faces, in the way Mal holds her, in Alina’s hands. It chokes me up every time.

Less than one week til the paperback!

You’re the lullaby
Singing me to sleep
You are the other half
You’re like a missing piece

I wrote Mal’s letter while I was touring last fall, and before I left, I got music recs from readers. (Forgive me, but I can’t remember if it was Elena from NovelSounds or @CourageousGrace who rec’d City and Colour to me.) In any case, several of the songs they suggested ended up on my inspiration playlist, so I’m going to be sharing them this week as we lead up to the paperback release on May 7th.

Too late.

When I heard about the new book RR’s going to write in Percy’s POV, I totally flipped and drew this little thing c: I couldn’t post it because my internet is being a complete pain in the backside recently.

I die.
