This isn't an ask but Six of Crows revived me and ily queen
What a sweet note to end on. I love you too.

Do you have any writerly motivation to spare that you can send over in waves? I'm taking an intermediate fiction writing class this term and I'm writing for the first time in ages, I'm going to need all the motivation I can get. (Also if you have good advi
Hmm, motivation is an interesting question. I usually get questions about inspiration which is a very different thing. I always found classes helpful because I’m very into someone giving me a deadline. If that doesn’t do it, music is huge for me, finding the thing in the story you love and holding onto it with both hands. I also find that listening to Hamilton motivates the hell out of me.
I get a lot of details from research and you never really know what you’ll use and what you’ll discard. (You discard much more than you use.) So if you’re building a sub-aquatic society, you may want to get heavy into marine biology and climatology and… look ima be real, I’m terrified of the ocean so I am extremely ill-equipped to handle this question.

omfg how does @vaveyard do this all the time?
I’ve got like two more in me and then I have a hot date with the 99.
Hi Leigh! I just wanted to ask you if to ask you if you'll maybe do another video conference with your Romanian readers in the future? I couldn't attend the last one since I was stuck in literature class talking about the luciferian discovery, which sounds
I’m so sad you missed it but that class sounds amazing. I think you made the right call. Not sure when we’ll do a skype again. But man I really want to visit.
Fortunately, I have already ordered the Grisha trilogy (hardcover version - hope they're as gorgeous as Six of Crows) at my local comic book store. I am looking forward to this even more now that I know one of the characters is based on the Goblin King and
I am delighted to think of my books being ordered at a comic book store.
You should get @glitzandshadows to tell you about the Russian Raistlin opera.
I suppose there could be some Raistlin in Kaz? He was one of the first anti-heroes I remember reading so definitely possible.
Was the name of Keramzin a reference to the writer Nikolai Karamzin? Also just finished Six of Crows, thank you for it! I have an interest in city planning and have been mentally piecing Ketterdam together in my head because it sounds amazing.
Yes!
And that is so cool to hear. I definitely could have used your help when I was laying out Ketterdam.
Did you have a lot of anxiety when you first started the query process? Any advice on fighting through?
Um. YES. So much anxiety. I cooked like twenty bread puddings. My best advice is to
1. Read the rejection letters other authors you admire have received.
2. START WORKING ON SOMETHING NEW.
3. Try to remember that rejections are often not any kind of reflection on the quality of your work. So much of it is timing, the market, what the person you’re querying last signed or even last read. It’s impossible not to take it personally or to let it get to you, but we all went through it.
fwiw, I’m rooting for you.

Who's your fave in B99? Also I would just like to say thank you for being so supportive of plus sized Nina!

Captain Holt. He DELIGHTS me.
(and you’re very welcome
