#TBT to that time I started piano lessons when I was nine years...
#TBT to that time I started piano lessons when I was nine years old. The piano was at the heart of our home. My mother played, I played, and my dad knew one song (which he played really well). Our Scottish Terrier would howl and the cats would chatter and there was always music. We invited neighbors in for Christmas carols, I practiced for recitals, my mom and I both wrote songs when we weren’t writing stories. Yesterday the piano arrived from North Carolina with the rest of my mom’s belongings, and now it has a new home here, with other cherished mementos— my favorite childhood ABBA poster, Executive Lamb (who sat on my dad’s desk at work), my mom’s dulcimer, a plate awarded to my mom, and some #AlltheBrightPlaces scrapbooks made by Brazilian readers and readers from @maredilibri
