The Tallent And Lowery Series by Amy Lignor – Week 1: 13
Lizzyland is pleased to help promote Amy Lignor’s new release “The Tallent and Lowery Series – Week 1: 13.” Welcome, Amy!

In 1902, in a dark room on the fifth floor of Carnegie Hall, thirteen people came together to continue a tradition that had been set in stone thousands of years before.
In 2012, Leah Tallent is Head of Research at the New York Public Library. Stoic and stable, brilliant and cynical, she has forever enjoyed her existence among the book stacks. But even with her unparalleled intellect, there was no way to know that on the historic steps between America’s famous lions, she would become involved with a crazy man on a fanatical quest.
Gareth Lowery has spent his life searching for the ultimate artifact that he is certain exists. His life’s pursuit has been to retrieve twelve keys hidden by men whose job it was to protect the single biggest secret ever kept. To find the keys he must enlist the help of an unwilling guide who, unfortunately, knows much more than he bargained for.
From the first page to the last word, this fantastic duo become immersed in a whirlwind treasure hunt with historical and passionate repercussions. From the strange and eerie Winchester House to the blustery darkness of Loch Ness, Gareth and Leah will quickly learn that the theory of duality is correct: For every bad there is a good and, for Heaven, there most assuredly exists…Hell.

“Hunter’s Assessment” by Karyn Pearson
Lizzyland is pleased to help promote Karyn Pearson’s upcoming release “Hunter’s Assessment.” Congratulations Karyn!
Title: Hunter’s Assessment
Series: Arcturian Bloodlines
Author: Karyn Pearson
Genre: Paranormal YA
Publisher: The Writing Network
Formats Available In: Digital
Release Date: TBA
Blurb: After years of training, they should have been ready for this. It was supposed to be a simple mission: eliminate the vampires and acquire the intel they’re guarding. Shane Kantor figured that this hunter’s assessment would be like every other test the Hunter’s Society had thrown at him and his squad. But he was wrong. Now Shane might just lose everything: his life, his legacy, and worst of all, her.
Excerpt:
“Hi,” she said, extending a hand. “You’re Shane?”
“Yeah,” he nodded woodenly, swallowing a lump in his throat as he shook her hand. “So you’re Sophie. My Predictor.”
“Yep, that’s me.”
“It’s an honor to have you on my squad.”
Sophie looked shyly away from him, laughing lightly. “No,” she murmured, shaking her head. “The honor’s all mine. I didn’t know you were the Grandmaster’s son. I feel lucky to have been chosen to be part of your squad.”
“Yeah, I figure the Grandmaster wouldn’t want to leave her own kid stuck with just anybody,” Troy, the Marksman, agreed. “If it was me, I’d want to have someone like you well-protected. Wouldn’t want the Grandmaster’s son accidentally getting killed from having incompetent squad mates, now would we?”
Shane frowned. “Let me just make one thing clear, alright?”
“By all means, go ahead, oh righteous leader,” Troy drawled.
“Forget that I’m the Grandmaster’s son. I don’t want preferential treatment. I don’t want you all to look at me and see Shane Kantor, son of Nadia Kantor, the Grandmaster and leader of the Hunter’s Society. I just want you to see me as your friend, your comrade. Nothing more, nothing less. We’re all equals here. Understood?”
“Yes, I understand,” Sophie replied.
Shane looked to Troy, waiting for his answer.
The Marksman sighed, nodding reluctantly. “Alright,” he muttered, throwing his hands up in a gesture of half-surrender, half-compliance. “No favorites?”
“No favorites.” Shane confirmed.
Troy grinned. “So, Mister Not-the-Grandmaster’s-son, how good are you in a fight?”
The Dancer’s eyes lit up with amusement as he regarded his new comrade. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Review: Take Me Now by Faith Sullivan
How do you survive the internship from hell?
Don’t fall in love.
Ivy thought being a reporter-in-training at the Independent Gazette would be her dream summer job. Little did she know, interviewing Eric, a landscaper with a heart of gold, would derail her plans. It turns out Ivy’s boss, Lauren, has been eying his chiseled physique for quite some time.
But at twenty-four, Eric already has a tragic past, one that he is still reeling from. Even though his ordeal turned him into some sort of local celebrity, it’s been a while since he’s shared his bed with anyone. When he comes to Ivy’s rescue out of the blue, it’s not long before the two of them start seeing each other behind Lauren’s back. When they get caught, Ivy’s journey toward a college degree is jeopardized and her relationship with Eric is severely put to the test.
Career versus love? In the end, a shocking turn of events provides Ivy with a revelation she never saw coming.

Linda’s Review:
3 STARS
The intro to this book definitely grabbed me…the prologue was one where I was foaming at the mouth to find out who the heck the other woman was that had Ivy balling her eyes out, but then we get to the actual scene in the book and I nearly missed it…why? Because the prologue had me thinking the other woman was pregnant with his child and he was doing the “honorable” thing, but no, that wasn’t it. It was actually just another misunderstanding…the kind that happened a lot in this book. The weird part is that I did like this book. However, there are some buts in here…
Ivy is a college student who takes an internship with her best friend Ryan’s step-sister, Lauren. It isn’t clearly defined as to why Lauren treats her horribly, but rather implied. Lauren is a self-involved, manipulative witch. That alone means she is probably horrible to all women just on principle. Throw in a younger brother that she may be potentially protective of, and yes, you could possibly see her being mean to the woman that is allegedly leading him on. If you believe that Ryan has given her that impression. And well, based on his behavior later, it is definitely plausible that he did. Ivy puts up with Lauren because she needs the credits for school and there isn’t anything else available. For the most part, I liked Ivy…but there were moments when I had a “huh?” moment. For example, she claims to have loved Will since their first kiss as pre-teens…but then goes on to tell you of their history and my only thought was “what history?” That is not love…that is a crush…blind, clueless, and naive. Although she knows he treated her like crap, and she knows he is probably not into her now either, she’s ready to faint at his feet and give him whatever he wants. Then there is Ryan…Ryan is her best friend who happens to be 5 years younger. You don’t actually learn that until much later nor the fact that he wants more from Ivy, and she had absolutely no idea. Throw in potential rape and the brushing it off later as “I handled it” and I have to wonder where her head is. And well, I also struggled with seeing Ryan do something like that. Nowhere in the book did it hint that it could go that way. She knew him for years, and never suspected he had that in him? And then her blowing it off like it was no big deal…I actually liked Eric more for his wait and watch, to teach Ryan a lesson at some point in the future. And that brings me finally to Eric…I mentioned earlier how the prologue was a pretty great intro, and honestly, something I expected of 2 people madly, unexpectedly in love at just the wrong dang time…and yes, you kind of get that knowing Eric’s history…but that isn’t what that scene is about…it is Lauren that drove that scene and she just didn’t have the hold on him to support it. And to be honest, that was a very emotional scene for 2 people I didn’t feel where at that level just yet. Maybe because it was instant attraction / connection, but no build up. They meet, he likes, they part for a week…how and when did they get to cement that connection? Then there is him in general…he is definitely wishy-washy…first, he likes her, but it is too soon…then it is he wants her and nothing will stand in his way…then he treats her like crap over something that should have been explained, then he thinks she isn’t deserving of him, then he thinks he isn’t deserving of her. Eric was just all over the place, and yet I liked him when he was that strong, sweet, honest guy.
Someone else noted that this needed a bit more fleshing out…and I definitely agree. There is great potential for this story, but there were gaps that did not properly explain some things. And the end didn’t quite resolve anything either, but knowing it is a trilogy, I can understand why.

Review: Almost Matched by Angela Orlowski-Peart
Would you take another shot at love? Or just settle on a friend with benefits?
THEIR HEARTBREAKING PAST WILL MOVE YOU. THEIR PASSION WILL MAKE YOU BLUSH. THEIR ANTICS WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD.
Twenty-five-year-old Natalie Davenport lugs substantial baggage. One boyfriend after the next has been a total disaster, leaving Natalie distrustful toward the male population in general. So when Colin Hampton crosses her path, she’s cautious. Her heart (and some other body parts!) nudges her to go for it, while her head wants her to run for the hills.
Colin is one of those gorgeous guys who attract women, no matter the age or marital status. With a successful career at a popular Seattle radio station, hard body, and charming personality, he is the complete package. But something dark lurks in the corners of his soul; some murky experience that has changed him—maybe for the better, but maybe for the worse.
Will he steal her heart and stomp over it like other guys did?
Will she let him into her heavily fortified world despite herself?
Or will they settle somewhere in the middle—establishing the emotional boundaries to protect them from falling in love?
****************************************************************
This contemporary romantic comedy blends humor, sensuality, and angst, with zany characters and witty dialogue.
***Warning: contains sexual situations (some quite vivid!), profanity, and a high dose of sarcasm. Oh, and there is a lot of appletini and beer drinking.
May not be appropriate for readers under 18 years old. Not intended for prudes and killjoys with no sense of humor***

Linda’s Review:
4 STARS
To be fair, I wasn’t sure when the romance would begin, because for the first 1/3 of the book, the focus was on Natalie and her 3 close friends. But I liked that. Why? I could relate. It has always been my belief that we women define ourselves by our relationships. Some of us focus more on finding that perfect mate, where as others of us find the perfect partner in crime instead. Don’t get me wrong, finding that perfect guy is never far from our minds, but if you have the right friends, the wait isn’t as long and you have lots of fun along the way. Like Natalie, I myself had a great group of gals to hang with, get drunk, go dancing, and search for that great guy. Reading about the antics of Ali, Caroline, Natalie, and Jena was fun and brought back some really good memories. Although I myself could not subscribe to the ideal of a sex buddy, I can see the benefits Especially if you have dated enough losers to not want to risk getting hurt again.
So, at the start, we meet Natalie and the rest of the girls…each of them is different – backgrounds, looks, occupations, etc. However, each of them is someone you can either relate to or know someone who can relate to them. Natalie and Ali are business partners. They run their own business and neither are married or involved in a serious relationship at this time. Aside from hanging with her friends, working, and going to the gym, Natalie spends her time thinking about the men she has dated in the past and wondering if she should just put a hold on getting into another serious relationship. Caroline is the best friend who has body issues. Jena is the student. Sound familiar?
Enter Colin. Natalie meets him at work. However, not in the most ideal situation. He’s good looking, smart, successful, and nice. What is not to like, right? Well, first off, there was the moment they met…when she was half naked in the office…then there is the fact that she isn’t sure she wants to get involved again. Not to give away too much, but they will eventually start to date and that will eventually lead to a relationship. Just when things start to look like Natalie’s search for the perfect mate is done, things start to get complicated with Colin. Everyone comes with some kind of baggage, right? A past that can be either good, decent, bad, or sad. The thing is…if you’re not upfront about your past, especially those things that tend to haunt you…they always come back to bite you in the @$$.
In closing, I really liked the story, but gotta say, it wasn’t perfect. First, as the book progressed, there were more misspelled or missing words. It started to get a little distracting. More importantly, the ending was abrupt. I don’t mind cliffhangers…ok, I don’t mind them too much as I get it sets the stage for the next book, but this one was just like, out of nowhere. Just when we were getting to the part where Colin was explaining his behavior, it ended. Would I recommend the book, yes. Do I think everyone would love it, perhaps not, but it was still an entertaining read.

***Review for Fire & Shadow by T.G. Ayer***
Normal people sneak out to a party and have fun. Maya Rao ends the evening by incinerating the guy who attacks her.
Nik Lucas, sexy, new in town and totally forbidden, happens to walk in on her. Normal guys would run for the hills. Nik knows a whole lot more than he’s telling.
Maya doesn’t believe the gods are real, doesn’t waste her time with mere mythology. But when gods, demons and hellhounds become the new normal and wielding fire becomes her new skill, she must decide what it is she really believes.
Can Maya accept that normal is something she will never be because it isn’t normal to be …
The Hand of Kali.
A new Paranormal coming of age series delving in the fantasy and magic of Hindu mythology and its plethora of gods, demons, legends & mythology.
Guest Reviewer – Marilyn Ortega
This is my first T.G. Ayer book, and I was so surprised by it.
I love books that are exceptional and different, and this book delivered everything I love in reading.
The character’s were fresh and interesting, the story was crisp and different, consistent and full of energy.
If you like reading on mythology, and forbidden love, then you will love this book, it revolves around Hindu Mythology, this would be my first, different from Greek Mythology, and this story had me warped in it’s world.
I will be looking forward to reading the second installment in this series.
Awesome book captivating and full of excitement

About the Author ~
I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognize that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practice given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves – it works wonderfully…
My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.
I love talking to my readers so email me if you have any questions or even if you just want to chat…
