Something New, Something Naughty

How about a little something naughty from my newest release, Going Deep?
She’d heard the term “mind fuck,” but it hadn’t held much meaning. Until now. Blindfolded and kneeling on the hard dungeon floor amidst enough torture devices to please a medieval Lord, she had nothing to do but wait and think. The experience had her brain opening doors she didn’t know existed. They were dark doors of longing and even darker doors behind which lurked self-doubt, trepidation and a healthy dose of fear. What was she doing here, waiting for an unknown man to come and claim her, body and soul? What kind of crazy person did such a thing? Despite Todd’s assurances, this person could be the worst sort of human being. A predator. A sociopath. Trust. That’s what this was about. Submission. The room was cool, but a bead of sweat trickled down her spine. The silence in the soundproofed room rang in her ears, and her knees ached—hell, everything ached in one way or another. Time became irrelevant. She tried counting her heartbeats to judge the time, but they proved erratic and inadequate for the purpose. He was fucking with her head — making her think about what she was doing, pushing against her barriers, testing her limits and her commitment to this path, and all without showing his face. Clever. If he knew to test her in this way from the start, what other means would he devise to get into her head once he got to know her?

Thursday Thirteen - Counting my Blessings

This past year has passed in a whirlwind. Lots of wonderful blessings have come my way, including the addition of a son-in-law to our family just two short days from now. As you read this, I'm probably on the road to the wedding. So, join me as I count my blessings for 2012 and wish you a safe and wonderful New Year.
1. I got another year older. This, of course, is better than the alternative.2. One of our daughters graduated from the police academy and now drives a patrol car and carries a gun. This, too, is better than the alternative.3. Our other daughter got engaged.4. We’re getting a new son-in-law two days from now.5. All my books are selling on a daily basis.6. We learned our bi-coastal existence will come to an end in about a month!7. My cupboards hold more food than we can eat.8. Good health has favored us.9. Stories and words continue to swarm in my head and out onto paper.10. I’ve met some absolutely wonderful people I'm grateful to call friend.11. I’ve been places and seen new things.12. Steady paychecks have continued to come.13. You are reading this. I’m blessed that you took the time to stop by today. May your blessing be plentiful in the New Year.

Thursday Thirteen - The Christmas 'Don't I Wish' List
Last week I posted a list of things I didn’t want to find under my Christmas tree, so this week I set out to create my money’s no object list Christmas list. I found it surprisingly difficult to come up with thirteen things I consider over the top luxury items. A couple of them are things I could buy for myself if I really, really wanted to. The rest, not so much. But it’s nice to dream!
1. Vintage Starlet Robe2. Season Tickets to the New York Yankees3. Alaskan Cruise – I’m not picky. Choose one.4. Candy Apple Red Camaro5. A nice, 4 Bdr. Victorian - this one will do nicely.6. Silk (real silk) Pajamas7. My own tour bus8. Maid/cook/personal assistant. I couldn’t find one of these online. What a shame. I really could use one.9. Gazebo10. Decadent new bathroom.11. Decadent new kitchen12. A rose garden to go with my gazebo.13. Peace.

The Next Big Thing blog meme
Many thanks to my dear friend, Christine Ashworth, for tagging me! Writers are always hopeful that their current work in progress is going to be the next big thing. For this one, I'm branching out, using a new pen name - well, it's really an old one because it's my real one - into the world of mainstream contemporary romance. I'm hoping Roz Lee fans will give this one a try and maybe a few people who find Roz a bit too risque will find this one to their liking. This one is due out in January, 2013.What is the working title of your next book?
Lost MelodyWhere did the idea come from for the book?
I was driving my daughters car down the freeway, listening to her kick-ass stereo, and the idea came to me to write about a drummer. In the evolution of the story in my mind, it became more about the heroine than the hero, but the idea began with the hero. What genre does your book fall under?
Mainstream Contemporary Romance – This one isn’t an erotic romance, and will not be published under Roz Lee’s name.Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?Ryan Reynolds would be great as Hank Travis and Dakota Fanning would do an excellent job with Melody Ravenswood.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?A young woman is caught between who she is and who she wants to be as she struggles to define what normal means for her.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I plan to self-publish it. How long does it take to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I’m embarrassed to say that this one took a very long time to write – over a year. Since then, it has been through several rewrites while I tried to find my voice in this genre. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I was inspired by the works of Robyn Carr, Sherryl Woods and Mariah Stewart. I know I’m not in their league, but this book strives to be along those lines. Succeed or fail? We shall see.Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Good music? LOL Yep, I confess. I was listening to 70’s music when the idea came to me.What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? The hero and heroine are extraordinary people trying to live their lives as best they can. That’s pretty simple for most of us, but for these two, life’s a bit more complicated. Hank Travis made it big in the world of rock and roll but his heart lies in the small farming community he calls home. Melody Ravenswood is the daughter of a rock and roll legend but she’s spent her life trying to hide that fact from the world. When fate throws these two together, it’s a dream come true for one and a nightmare for the other.
Not enough?? Then how about this? Here's the fabulous cover my friend Talina Perkins at Bookinit Designs has created for Lost Melody.

Here comes the tagging part of the meme. I'm kind of late to the party, and most everyone I know has already posted in this meme, so I'm only going to pass it along to one person, but I think you'll agree, she's awesome! So, next Wednesday, check out the lovely, Sharon Buchbinder when she posts her next big thing!
Thanks for stopping by!
