Aurélien Police

One of the joys of writing is artists. I love art and design but until I had a personal investment in a book I’d never understood how crucial it is. I was recently sent the cover the to French translation of my novella “Ormeshadow” from Le Bélial’ and discovered artist Aurélien Police. His work is just beautiful,  be it for the cover of “Frankenstein” or his illustration for “Dune”.
Freelance illustrator and graphic designer Aurélien Police was born in France in 1978. He works on projects for...

Ormeshadow and Le Bélial’

I am very proud that “Ormeshadow” is to be released in April 2021 in France by Le Bélial’. It’s been translated by Anne-Sylvie Homassel and the cover art is by Aurelian Police.

Erwann Perchoc, editor of Le Bélial’, discussed this year’s publishing schedule here, which includes work by Nancy Kress, Poul Anderson, and Ken Lui.

Fantastic Fiction at KGB

Massive thanks to Ellen Datlow and Matthew Kressell for inviting me to their virtual Fantastic Fiction at KGB.

It’s now on YouTube. I’d urge you to listen in as Justin C. Key is just brilliant. I’ve not read any of his work but I will be after last night. Read “The Perfection of Theresa Watkins” on Tor.com.

Justin was a hard act to follow. I read “Egg”, a story that first appeared in Paula Guran’s Once Upon A Time: New Fairy Tales and then All The Fabulous Beasts, my col...

The Sinister Horror Company

Justin Park of The Sinister Horror Company has decided to bring some much needed joy to fans of dark fiction at the end of the year with an online advent calendar of Christmas themed microfiction. So far there’s been work by Tracy Fahey, Lex H. Jones, and Penny Jones and I’m sure there will be many more fine writers to come. Plus me. I’ll be in there somewhere.

Early Sunday Morning

I came across Peter Mitchell’s work on Instagram. He’s a photographer who moved to Leeds after graduating from art college in 1972.

I was partcularly drawn to the images from the 1970s and 80s. He took them on Sunday mornings while making deliveries as a truck driver. They’s been collected in a book called Early Sunday Morning from RBB Books.

See Early Sunday Morning on Peter Mitchell’s website / Peter Mitchell interview at It’s Nice That / Early Sunday Morning at RBB Photobooks.

Whatever the outcome I am always grateful to Ellen Datlow and the good people at Tor.
