Defining the New Year 1 Week at a Time

As I reviewed my goals for 2019, I realized that first I needed to define the year. I decided to dub 2019 the Year of the Trickster in order to get the trickster novel I've been working on forever in shape to take it's next step in life. But in order to do that, I have more definitions to make. The idea is to define what it will take for me to get the job done. To keep me focused. To move me and my writing forward. If this is something you think you might benefit from, I invite you to join me...

How Your Voice is Like a Necklace...or a D.J.

Reprint of a blog post from February 2010 (before I sold my first manuscript!)
At dinner last night my husband and I were tucked into a romantic little table for two (okay, romantic is stretching it, but a girl needs an imagination in this era of open, well-lit restaurants).  We were whispering, and I was blushing and giggling (yes, more imagining) when suddenly the person in the booth behind me drew my attention.  I turned and poked my head over the top of the booth and su...

Crazy Amazon

I have no idea why Amazon does this, but who am I to question the great marketing machine?

They've marked the print version of I AM ME down significantly! It's less than the Kindle version. If you have Prime with free shipping, you won't even have to pay shipping! Hey, the holidays are coming. Surely you know a teen or two. Teachers need books for their classrooms. Librarians always need new material. There a plenty of adults who read young adult....at this price, stock up!!!

Buy from Amazon no...

My New Book Store

I'm excited to announce that I have a new online store for readers to order signed books. And it is right here on my website! Finally.

Often, I consider myself technical enough to get in trouble. I've been searching or a retail app I could add to my website for awhile and there was always something I didn't like about them. Usually cost. Sometimes they were complicated. But I've found what seems to be a no/low cost option that was really simple to add. Plus it offers the opportunity for growth...

Do You Knock First or Just Enter?

My son stopped by after work the other day. He works really early hours and is off by about 9:00 a.m. He walked into the house, greeted my husband and I, and all the animals, grabbed a bowl of cereal and sat down at the dining table with his earbuds in, and ate. He had an appointment later in the morning and didn't want to drive all the way home just to turn around and come all the way back. That's cool.

I left for work shortly after that, but I realized as I drove away that I was grinning. I...

My Commencement Speech

Two years ago, as my son readied himself to graduate high school, I wrote a commencement speech to honor the occasion. This year, he is receiving his AA in Criminal Justice and you know what? The speech still applies. This speech always applies. So, I'm posting it again. And I'll probably post it every year until someone lets me read this speech in person in front of an auditorium of bright eyed graduates.
