7 Ways To Lower Your Auto Insurance Bill
The cost of auto insurance can vary widely based on a large number of factors. It is easy, however, to get in a rut and simply pay the bill month after month without considering other options.
7 Ways To Lower Your Auto Insurance Bill
1. Ask For A Discount
Many times you don't even have to move your coverage to another company to save money. If you simply contact your current insurance carrier and let them know that you are about to start shopping them out, there is a good chance they will offer you a discount. For this call to be effective, you should have at least a couple of other superior quotes to what you are currently paying. This is a great article below that points out that many auto insurers have a 'loyalty' program - one that costs you for being loyal and not frequently shopping for a better deal!
2. Drop Collision And Comprehensive On Older Vehicles
Many people don't understand that although it is a requirement to carry liability insurance, collision and comprehensive are optional. This is the component of your policy that covers damage to your own car. If the value of your vehicle is in the $3,000 to $5,000 range, you might want to consider dropping collision and comprehensive. The thought here is that once the value of a vehicle has dropped to this level, the cost of this component of your policy is cost prohibitive. Even a somewhat minor accident would likely lead to the car being considered 'totaled.' This means that the amount you can collect from your insurance carrier is limited to the point, that it is usually a better value to not to carry collision and comprehensive on an older car. (Note: If you are still making payments on your vehicle, your lender will not allow you to drop the collision and comprehensive coverage).
3. Get Rid Of The Bells And Whistles
When shopping for coverage, avoid costly extras that will add unnecessary cost to your policy. Towing and rental car benefits are nice, but deluxe features like this are usually not a good value.
4. Consider Letting Big Brother Monitor Your Driving
Some auto insurers will offer you a nice discount if you agree to have an onboard tracking device in your vehicle. The device will track things like the number of miles you drive, how quickly you accelerate and decelerate and other factors to determine your 'road risk.' While it does seem a bit intrusive, the device is simply collecting statistics known to be reliable measurements for driving safety.
5. Use The Internet
The Internet has made shopping for a lot of things much easier, and auto insurance is no exception. One option is to get on the phone and start dialing for dollars, but a more efficient way to shop is online.
Here are four sites to use to do your online shopping.
Nerd Wallet
Esurance
Netquote
The Zebra
6. Carry Higher Deductibles
Agreeing to be responsible for the first $1,000 of damages to your vehicle can pay big dividends. Moving from a lower deductible to $1,000 can result in a savings of 30% or more.
7. Don't Skimp On Liability Coverage
It might be tempting to lower your liability coverage, but most prudent advisers would suggest no less than 300/500 policy limits. This means that the amount your policy will pay is $300,000 maximum to a single person and $500,000 maximum overall in one accident. Here is a really good article on auto insurance liability limits. Along these same lines, you should always carry uninsured motorist coverage (especially these days with the large number of uninsured drivers on the road).

The Assassination Of Robert F. Kennedy - Was It A Conspiracy?
In A Lie Too Big to Fail, longtime Kennedy researcher (of both JFK and RFK) Lisa Pease lays out, in meticulous detail, how witnesses with evidence of conspiracy were silenced by the Los Angeles Police Department; how evidence was deliberately altered and, in some instances, destroyed; and how the justice system and the media failed to present the truth of the case to the public. Pease reveals how the trial was essentially a sham, and how the prosecution did not dare to follow where the evidence led.
A Lie Too Big to Fail asserts the idea that a government can never investigate itself in a crime of this magnitude. Was the convicted Sirhan Sirhan a willing participant? Or was he a mind-controlled assassin? It has fallen to independent researchers like Pease to lay out the evidence in a clear and concise manner, allowing readers to form their theories about this event. Pease places the history of this event in the context of the era and provides shocking overlaps between other high-profile murders and attempted murders of the time. Lisa Pease goes further than anyone else in proving who likely planned the assassination, who the assassination team members were, and why Kennedy was deemed such a threat that he had to be taken out before he became President of the United States.
Lisa Pease is the author of 'A Lie Too Big to Fail: The Real History of the Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.' Based on more than two decades of investigative research, Peases recently published book has already been hailed as the magnum opus of RFK assassination research by the acclaimed author of 'JFK and the Unspeakable,' James Douglass.
Another Government Shutdown Coming? No Money For Wall?
This week is the focus is on the State Of The Union, but will there be another government shutdown? With less than two weeks for a deal to come together Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still saying there will be no money for a wall. Democrats call for the resignation of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. Northam first apologizes for a racist picture from his college days, later denies it was him, and then almost Moonwalks for reporters. Could there be as many as fifty notable names competing for the Democrat nomination? The NFL, still mired in controversy over Colin Kaepernick, will face competition from the XFL football league starting in just one year.

Investigative Reporter Sharyl Attkisson Joins Jim Paris Live
Sharyl Attkisson joins Jim Paris Live to discuss fake news and media manipulation. She also comments on the government shutdown and media narrative. How did Trump win the election with such negative coverage? Why do we only have a handful of companies controlling the Internet? Why have the major news networks become mostly opinion? and an update on her lawsuit against the United States Government for spying on her while she was investigating the Fast And Furious debacle.
Why The Government Sent 29 FBI Agents To Arrest Roger Stone
Jim discusses the arrest of Roger Stone and why it took 29 FBI agents, 17 vehicles, 2 gunner boats, and a helicopter. Whether your like or dislike Roger Stone, whether or not you think he is guilty, you will be shocked to hear the details of his arrest. Did Trump lose in the government shutdown standoff, or does is this all part of plan that will play out over the next 3 weeks? Is Nancy Pelosi holding the State Of The Union hostage to more demands? Another caravan of more than 12,000 is on the way to the border, and how the media exaggerated the financial impact of the shutdown on government workers.

Life Insurance: More Affordable Than Ever And Why Almost Everyone Needs It
There are a lot of good reasons to buy life insurance and it has become more affordable than ever. It used to be said that life insurance is always sold but never bought. The thought behind this adage was that most people dont wake up in the morning and plan to go out and buy life insurance. It is something we all know is available, but as easy as it is to buy, it is also easy to put off. This is why many people only have life insurance because of their interaction with a financial professional that sold it to them.
I just turned 54 and my 10-year term life insurance policy expired last week. I carried a very large amount of life insurance when my children were still living at home. Over the years my need for life insurance has decreased, but I still believe I have a need for it today. Whether it is to leave your family the money needed to pay for your burial, pay off debts, or provide a nest egg for ongoing monthly income, it is an incredible tool to include in your financial planning. By the way, while I wont spend a lot of time here debating the subject, I recommend the most affordable version of life insurance - Term. Whole life or universal life policies include investment and loan features which needlessly drive up the price. They are more often pushed by insurance agents because of the higher commission payouts.
How To Buy Life Insurance
The old school way of buying life insurance was usually through an acquaintance that would come to your home and make the sales presentation at your kitchen table. As a young boy growing up in Chicago, I saw my parents sit at our kitchen table several times with the insurance man. In-home presentations are still going on today, but are less common. Like a lot of services the Internet has revolutionized, life insurance shopping has transformed in recent years. Now, anyone can go online and fill out a form in five minutes and have an insurance quote within hours.
Companies to consider:
How Much Will It Cost?
The rate will vary from one person to the next based on age, health, and other factors such as sporting activities, and whether you smoke or not. But most people are very surprised at how little term life insurance costs. For example, a young person in good health cam buy $1 million dollars of term life insurance for less than $30 per month. Term life insurance rates can be locked in for as long ten, twenty, and even thirty years.
How Much Life Insurance Do You Need?
An old rule of thumb was to multiply your income by ten, but some people today use a multiplier of twenty. Nerd Wallet has great resources on this and a life insurance needs calculator. There are many other considerations, such as how much debt a family has, college funding, how much savings are in place for emergencies, and retirement account balances, which is why using a life insurance needs calculator is necessary. An even better option would be to sit down with a fee based financial planner to review your life insurance needs within an overall financial plan.
Will I Ever Reach The Point That I Dont Need Life Insurance?
Once you are debt free and have enough in savings and investments to take care of your family you may consider yourself to be self insured and may have no need for life insurance. For most people, however, this day does not come until they reach retirement.
