I don’t know what other person thinking about comparison but Femme Fatale was minor villain on The Powerpuff Girls first series. She was thief that used Feminism for her own gain and justify her own action and she even was brainwash PPG into hating males a
People have pointed out that it was probably intended as an insult. No big deal, maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t.
I don’t really watch tv, so it didn’t land, in any case. :)
someone asked about your college education. did you go to college? if so, what did you study? do you feel that helped you with writing comics/writing in general?
I did, I graduated high school a couple years early with nearly perfect grades despite a lot of turmoil at home. I’m pretty proud of that. And I got a scholarship to the University of Oregon, where I studied Drama and English.
Then I got ill, and had to leave. I have no regrets about any of it.
It’s funny, everyone joked that Drama and English would mean my college would be no use to me in the job market.
But I use them both ALL THE TIME. :)
FWIW I think most people would agree that anon has no idea what kind of feminist you are. I've never got an anti-men or poser vibe from you. IMO you've always had a cool best-of-second-and-third-wave feminist outlook without any of that BS.
I don’t bash guys because I LIKE guys. I don’t like any kind of blanket guy-bashing. I realize there are mindsets that huge numbers of people have that I might consider harmful or obsolete, but I also consider most people, including myself, to be works-in-progress. Who knows what each person will be in ten years? Ten years ago, I was a much bigger asshole than I am now (hopefully) and a lot more ignorant.
I like guys. I don’t care for a lot of the current terminology in this discussion, I don’t worry much about which wave of feminism I belong to, I don’t find any of that very helpful, personally. For some, maybe, for me, no. And I have to admit the feminism that I was raised in was not intersectional and that still seems to be the case for many women.
But I am not a stealth feminist, either. I don’t hide from things I think are wrong, and I don’t mind showing my colors hard on this. Sometimes I can be a little flippant, but being bombarded with the same loaded questions about women and comics for fifteen years does tend to make one a LITTLE jaded sometimes. :)
Like most people, I’m working on it. I’m trying to listen better, and I fight when I think it’s called for. I don’t know what else I can do except use what little voice I have to tell stories that hopefully include, rather than exclude, people of all kinds.

you're a lot like femme fatale from powerpuff girls <3
I don’t know who that is, but I hope it’s a compliment!
One of my favorite things you wrote was that Secret Six tie in with battle of the cowl. It was full of great moments, like pretty much everything Bane did,the Adam West references,Ragdoll as robin and of course Dick Grayson´s butt! Could you comment on wha
The best thing about a book like Secret SIx is that it sold well (it did, it wasn’t canceled for lack of sales, but for the new52 stuff) and it was odd, and we had great editors. So there weren’t really any guidelines, I just pushed the envelope and when that was allowed, I’d push harder. Editorial was very supportive!
Is issue 12 of 'Clean Room' the last one? Tell me not!
Absolutely not, little delay on thirteen while we got a new artist (Jon Davis-Hunt has sadly moved on to work on the WILDSTORM reboot).
Hi Gail, I just want to say i enjoy your work. You have had a quiet year can you share any upcoming projects and possibly a trip to Welcome to Tranquility news
I took a bit of a break from the big two companies for the most part and wanted to try other things. I’ve been delightfully happy and working like a dog, some of the stuff debuts in early 2017.
I have several upcoming projects, CROSSWIND and WONDERFALL and of course CLEAN ROOM. I have a big variety of other stuff coming that can’t be mentioned yet, sorry. And I AM trying to get the rights back to Welcome to Tranquility!
