When will we see Catman again? When? When? When?

I don’t know for sure, but I’m working on it!

hello! I just read JLA Classified: The Hypothetical Woman. It was great! It reads like one of the best Justice League animated episodes that doesn't exist, but should :)

Thank you, I had a blast writing that. JLA is the book that got me into comics in the first place, and I got to work with the great Jose Garcia Lopez!

But isn't that letter exactly what's wrong with our national discourse? I don't mean to call you out on this specifically, but it bothers me when I see my fellow liberals glom onto a vile piece like that because we agree with its basic points.

One person chose to try to censor and threaten an entire sports organization because an athlete stated an opinion supporting civil rights for lgbtq people. Another athlete responded with a letter that contained some vulgarities.

The two sins are not equal.

I used to be a lot more patient and ‘understanding’ with people about these topics. But what we are talking about here is people who insist on inflicting their stated values on EVERYONE.

No one citizen has that right. That delegate does not have the right to threaten and censor an athlete for his contrary opinion.  What he is doing is not polite, civil, or humane.

If someone tries to steal from someone else, they are not obligated to be polite.

Really enjoying this letter wherein an NFL Punter for the Vikings yells at a Maryland state delegate.

WHO IS THIS PLAYER THAT I MAY WORSHIP HIM FROM AFAR.

Holy crap, read this letter!

Just Got The Full Pages To Batgirl 14

The finale to the Knightfall story.

Wow.

I am not kidding, it is STUNNING. The art is just remarkable. It is intense and brutal.

I am absolutely thrilled. I would kill to have these pages in my home.

WOW.

Fantastic news everyone! I’ve known this for a bit, but my webcomic The Adventures of Superhero Girl is being published in a FULL COLOUR hardback by Dark Horse comics. And an introduction by the legendary Kurt Busiek, creator of Astro City!

Go to Robot 6 for the full press release.

WOO I’M SO EXCITED!!!! I really hope everyone supports Superhero Girl (and me!) and picks up a copy of this book when it comes out. It’ll be coloured by the AMAZING Cris Peter, who previously coloured my contribution to Marvel’s Girl Comics anthology, so you know it’ll look super spiffy.

Hurrah!

BEST THING.

I am a huge dork for Faith Erin Hicks.

APE IN A CAPE: An Interesting Question

gailsimone:

This came up on Twitter and I must admit, I am of two minds about it.

A poster posted a photo link showing a pink Batgirl outfit for very little girls (or boys, if they are so inclined!).

My first reaction wasn’t, “Oh, man, here we go again, enforcing gender roles on children, everything has to…

my grandmother would always try buy me race-appropriate toys and if she couldn’t, she would make the toys she could blackface. I would have a fit because I couldn’t care less about if the doll looked like me. I just wanted the toy. I liked the character, regardless what she loooked like.

that’s how I feel looking at this costume. it’s a door. if a little girl wants to be pink Batgirl, I’d focus more on the Batgirl aspect than the color.

That is a very powerful post for a lot of reasons. Thank you.

I get why it would bother people, the pink outfit. But if there’s a choice, and no pressure, let the little girl pick the Batgirl she wants to be, I feel.

Okay that’s a good point but lack of racial representation in toys/media/merchandise is not like a pink batgirl costume.

Let’s not do that.

Oh, man, I agree, sorry, I felt there were two different points being made there. I didn’t mean to sound like I was connecting them or equating them.

Sorry, might have been careless with the wording. I just meant:

1) That I found what she said about the race of her toys thing moving, and

2) Separately, that I could see what people were saying about being bothered by the pink.

My fault, just plain clumsy wording. Apologies!
