I know that as a woman you've likely faced dismissive attitudes toward yourself and your concerns in the industry, but do you find that female characters are also treated with similar dismissiveness by editorial staff? How do you handle something like that

I plant my feet and fight, I do it all the time.

And yes, it’s a constant, it’s changing slowly, but a lot of the people working on comics have little regard for female characters, both for understandable reasons (they didn’t have a lot of great stories featuring those characters when they were young and impressionable) and less understandable (they are turds).

It’s getting better, I choose to focus on that, but I had to fight VERY fricking hard sometimes to get a spotlight for a character to show her potential.

i want to kiss diana on the forehead and tell her i'm proud of her

Me, too.

A lot of women and a lot of men did heroic work making that film and that makes me happy.

What would a Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) story or arc by you be like?

I don’t really know the character that well, I guess it would just be her Hulking out and throwing her shield at vampires.
