Disability In Comics
What current characters in mainstream comics portray disability most accurately, would you say?
I am looking for representation that is not just stereotypical tropes or inspiration porn, please.
Thank you!

I Cannot Thank You All Enough
For the amazing suggestions and advice and personal stories. My speech is mostly about how comics have come from ZERO representation of many marginalized groups to at least some, and expands from that.
But everything you guys shared with me is in my brain, and I believe there is a panel after and I hope we can discuss these things more in depth. There are some amazing panelists, so it might be the best thing is for me to shut up and listen at that point.
But your words of encouragement and support and all the stories you shared are going with me and NOW I AM IRON MAN.
Ahem.
Sorry. But they help.
A LOT.

Best of luck tomorrow on the panel gailsimone! SUPER STITCH HAS YOUR BACK! :)
WELL THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING!
CHARGE!
Good luck with the speech (from a trans woman).
Thank you, darling! I am excited and nervous both. BUT!
There are other people on the panel who are experts on these topics, I think, so hooray!
So, This Is Why I Am Hopeless
So, I was asked late Sunday during the con in the middle of a big signing line if I could possibly come to be at a forum at the White House.
After making sure that it wasn’t a prank or mistake, my first instinct was to say no, for a bunch of reasons, some having to do with travel arrangements already being set, some with questions about being qualified, and some with just abject terror.
But when I first announced it, I got FLOODED with emails and posts and DMs, seriously, I am still trying to read them all, from people saying I HAD to do it. A bunch of readers even asked if there was a monetary issue (there wasn’t, I must have phrased my first post badly) and volunteered to contribute so I could go. More evidence that people are surprising and wonderful, is what that is.
But the thing that was making me panic a little is that I literally had nothing but comfy/silly con clothes to wear. Batgirl and Ramones shirts.
Anyway, I had meetings at DC and was running out of time, so we ran sixteen blocks to get to Macy’s where I grabbed the first even remotely appropriate thing to wear and we already had show tickets so we had to run all the way back in hot, soggy, crowded Times Square. Barely made it.
Then tonight, in Washington DC, we went on a walking quest to find nail polish, and we found a pharmacy that actually had nice colors and I just GRABBED A TON because I didn’t have time to debate.
I actually almost cried because I found a nice peach polish, after a very amazing, but exhausting and stressy week.
I am pretty sure this is not how I envisioned the life of a writer. :)

… well, you are doomed with that attitude. Seriously, did you see all the rabbits they killed?
And they were very fierce rabbits!

This is a long delayed continuation of my drawings...

This is a long delayed continuation of my drawings of Gail Simone’s Secret Six as if they were Archie characters. I’m not entirely sure if this is Jughead cosplaying as Ragdoll or Ragdoll cosplaying as Jughead. Either way, it amuses me. Brush and ink and Prismacolor markers. (via Christianne’s Art and Comics: Ragdoll)
I love this so much.
