A QUICK HEADS-UP

my good friend matt skiba is going to be showing some paintings & objects in LA. the opening is tonight, friday the 13th. I'm told that the portrait depicted here has already been sold, but you still have a chance to buy his oils of mishima, harry crosby, & others of that ilk. it should be fun.

GOODBYE TO YOU MY TRUSTED FRIEND...

Rod McKuen has been an ongoing source of inspiration ever since my friend Barry Alfonso introduced me to his works back in the 70s. over the years his material has never lost its ability to surprise me with its unexpected twists & turns, and I've made no secret of the fact that he was THE influence for Music Martinis & Misanthropy (& what followed in its wake). I came very very close to working with him on a few occasions & always assumed eventually I would, but now its too late for that.

I envy Shaun Partridge, who was invited to Rods birthday party in NYC, & received a hug from the great man--- surely the ultimate RM experience.

I'd like to thank all those people who gave me so much cool McKuen stuff over the years, such as this big framed poster that hangs in my study & lots & lots of books (some signed). many many thanks.

bye Rod

I'M STILL HERE...

recent months have been dominated by a herculean move. after 25 long years, I've bid farewell to my beloved bunker & moved into a place that resembles a futuristic ski lodge. decorating it has been more fun than anything I've ever done in my entire life, but it has been a full time job & I'm not yet finished. thus far the place looks like something out of clockwork orange... which is what I was going for. I'll show you pictures later.

during this same period I've had nothing but problems with the computer & with Facebook. for a long while I couldn't access my own page, & when I could I was unable to read or respond to any messages left for me. it has all been resolved now, but I sincerely apologize to those of you who tried to contact me & never heard back. things should improve going forward.

I have also been working on several new books, a few of which are virtually done... but not quite.

I hope to be posting more frequently in the near future.

all my best, boyd

THE COMMAND TO LOOK soon back in print!

I.ve seriously been looking for this book nearly thirty years with no luck. 25 years ago even a xerox copy was going for 50 bucks. now adam parfrey (feralhouse) is bringing it back, as well as making available a volume on the life & art of william mortensen called AMERICAN GROTESQUE. if you're a fan of mortensen this is major news.
I assume that a good many of you are already on the mailing list for the feralhouse catalog, if not, do yourself a favor & check into it at INFO@FERALHOUSE.COM...

WOLFSANGLE BELT BUCKLE

someone in england is making wolfsangle belt buckles based on my 1982 design (they also have other items of interest). google this & check 'em out. while you're at it take a look at ASP apparel--- they've been offering a full line of clothing featuring wolfshooks & the cross of lorraine for years now & the quality is top-notch.
