In print, this winter, so far … 4 Sketches, 2 poems, and 2 reviews …

4 Sketches at Lavender Review: Sometimes I draw when I listen to a poetry reading. After “The Collectibles: Lesbian Poet Trading Cards Live Reading & Open Mic” with poetry from Robin Becker & Elizabeth Bishop, I sent the sketches I’d made to friends involved in the event. They shared the poet sketches with other friends […]

It’s About Time!

I had the pleasure of reading at It’s About Time Writers’ Reading Series #385, curated by Peggy Sturdevant. “Pamela Hobart Carter brought light to dark days through her poetry. Centenarian Eleanor DeVito Owen shared her award winning memoir excerpt, Hobo Soup. Open mic with Kevin O’Conner, Sylvia Pollack and Ellen Young.”

Sound Poetry

Kristi Nebel interviewed me for Radio Tacoma’s show “Sound Poetry.” Interspersed in our conversation I read some poems. While the show runs a half hour, we talked for a full hour and I keep thinking of things I’d like to discuss further with Kristi. “Sound Poetry” is a trove! Explore its archive. Listen to Koon […]

Recommendation: Held Together with Tape and Glue by Pamela Hobart Carter

Originally posted on freethoughtandmetaphor:
Pamela Hobart Carter’s new poetry book, Held Together with Tape and Glue is a collection of gentle meditations, mostly on ordinary topics.  Some of the poems are erasure poems, but I couldn’t tell which if I hadn’t read the acknowledgements in the front of the book.  There’s no flaunting of technique…

“Held Together with Tape and Glue” is here!

Held Together with Tape and Glue, a poetry chapbook, Finishing Line Press, 2021. Like a gull or osprey, or even, a cloudhorse, the poems in Pamela Hobart Carter’s Held Together with Tape and Glue move with grace, drama and purpose. “Patterns are easier to see from the sky” she writes in “Notice,” and thus these poems soar and swoop through […]

I Read at PoetryBridge Community Mic … Featured Poet: Sylvia Pollock

Sylvia Pollack’s new book: Risking It Pensive, intimate, and often funny poems. I love this collection. Much about deafness, aging, being in nature, noticing, and living in these times. I read it frontwards for a few poems, and then chose to go backwards, and loved the progressions from both directions.
