Giorgio Monicelli (Tradate, May 21, 1910 – Milan, November 2, 1968) was an Italian translator and editor, stepbrother of the movie director Mario Monicelli.

Son of the playwright Tomaso Monicelli and nephew of Arnaldo Mondadori, the most famous and important Italian editor along with Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, he was the founder of Urania in 1952, a fondamental series of sci-fi books. He also invented the word "fantascienza" (italian word equivalent for "science fiction" in english language) and the responsable of the spreading of the genre in Italy.
