Completely Sold Out…

Today’s book signing at Warwick’s Books in La Jolla was a roaring success…I completely sold out my supply of books in two hours…I will be adding a new post with pictures tomorrow, or very soon.

Sherlock Holmes Society Review…

The Sherlock Holmes Society, that venerable group headquartered in London, England, a literary and social Society for study of the life and work of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, has seen fit to present a review of my book in the summer edition of their Journal, which I quote here:
Sherlock Holmes & the Whitechapel Vampire by Dean P Turnbloom (MX Publishing, www.mxpublishing.com; £10.99/$18.95/€12.99) is robust pulp fiction, imaginatively identifying Jack the Ripper as an aristocratic Italian undead bloodsucker. Fact and invention are so mixed that it’s easiest to imagine all this happening in an alternative version of our history. The narrative rushes along, carrying you with it, in the best tradition of the thriller. And at the end (a good touch, this) Sherlock Holmes still doesn’t believe in vampires!

One week to go…

In exactly one week week from today, on Sunday, July 29, I will be signing books at Warwick’s books in La Jolla, California. I hope that all who read this post and who live in the area will attend. It’s quite exciting for me. I look forward to seeing you there.

 

Another announcement is that I will be self-publishing very soon a small book of short stories that I plan to offer online for $.99 on Barnes and Noble and Kindle…watch for them.

10% of Royalties to Support the Semper Fi Fund…

As a retired Chief Warrant Officer, US Navy, I heard about the Semper Fi Fund through a radio program I frequent almost daily, Hugh Hewitt on the Salem Radio Network.

Last Memorial Day, while I was listening, Hugh had on as guests, marine after marine who’d been injured in one way or another, most having lost limbs in service to our country, and it really struck a chord with me. My wife and I have often given to various causes supporting the armed forces, particularly the Navy since that’s where I’m most associated, but after I heard the stories of these brave young men and women who had sacrificed so much in order to allow all of us to enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted, I decided I wanted to do more.

So, starting with the first royalty check I receive from “Sherlock Holmes and the Whitechapel Vampire”

I’m giving 10% of all I make from this book to the Semper Fi Fund
