Author, author...

...read all about her !!

Today we are interviewing Liza O'Connor... please come join us !!

Krista: Tell me about yourself

Liza: Well, I was raised by feral cats, one of which had rabies, which is why I have a DOG now, and we take therapeutic hikes throughout the beautiful woods of NJ.

Krista: Hold on. That’s not the bio I have on you.
Liza Bio
Liza lives in Denville, NJ with her dog Jess. They hike in fabulous woods every day, rain or shine, sleet or snow. Having an adventurous nature, she learned to fly small cessnas in NJ, hang-glide in New Zealand, kayak in Pennsylvania, ski in New York, scuba dive with great white sharks in Australia, dig up dinosaur bones in Montana, sky dive in Indiana, and raft a class four river in Tasmania. She’s an avid gardener, amateur photographer, and dabbler in watercolors and graphic arts. Yet through her entire life, her first love has and always will be writing novels. She loves to create interesting characters, set them loose, and scribe what happens.

Liza: That’s true too.

Krista: More or less true than the feral cats?

Liza: It’s factually true, which I suppose makes it ‘more true’ to some people. But as a writer I am free to state my truths in clever ways. I use those feral cats to explain my lack of proper social skills, my propensity to get in trouble by pushing boundaries, and state emphatically that my parents could have done better raising me.

Krista: That’s a pretty common attitude.

Liza: Yes. Unfortunately, we don’t come out of the birth canal with instructions attached to our butts explaining precisely how we need to be raised. So normal human parents just do the best they can. However, feral cats should not be allowed to raise happy cute human babies, especially feral cats with rabies.

Krista: Does that explain why so many bad things happen to your characters?

Liza: Maybe. My main characters tend to have a weird sense of humor and get into a double dose of trouble.

Krista: Would you like to share your troubles?

Liza: Nope. The only time you’ll get a hint of my troubles is when I speak of them metaphorically, or write about them in my books. I was born happy and once I ditched the feral cats, I returned to being happy.

Krista: If you could, would you go back and attach some instructions to your newborn butt?

Liza: No, the feral cats would have probably just used it as a cheap diaper anyway.

Unlike my characters’ lives, I can’t change my past. Nor would I if I could. I am very happy where I am today. And I believe my past makes me a better writer.

Just like all my adventures give my characters the ability to do things, my past traumas give my characters difficulties to overcome.

So I don’t want to change a thing.

Krista: If you had a child, would you want to raise her the same way.

Liza: Absolutely not. However, my fear I would become a feral cat with rabies if I became a parent prevents me from having anything but a dog.

Krista: No husband?

Liza: Tried that, turned out worse than the feral cats.

Krista: What could be worse than a feral cat?

Liza: A hippopotamus. Do you know they kill more people than any other animal in Africa? The reason is they attack for no apparent reason, and you don’t see them coming until they’ve rammed the bottom of your boat, knocking you into the water. Then they’ll grab a hold of you and hold you under the water until you drown.

They make terrible husbands. So I’m sticking with my dog, Jess, who is a real dog, not a metaphorical one.

Krista: Well this went darker than I’d anticipated.

Liza: Much like my stories. I usually start with the intent of writing comedy, but then night comes and the monsters come out.

So I end up writing humorous characters in deadly situations. Sadly, funny trauma is not an accepted standard genre.

Krista: Maybe it should be. Saving Casey sounds like a fabulous novel.

Liza: Thanks, it’s classified as a Young Adult Suspense Thriller, but that should be Mature Young Adults, so I don’t traumatize them into a fetal position.

Saving Casey by Liza O’Connor   Long Blurb:   Having been diagnosed with cancer, Cass Goldman decides to opt out of any futile medical care and end her life. While she has some thoughts on afterlife, she never expects to reincarnate into the body of a seventeen-year-old girl named Casey Davidson. When she awakens in a hospital, Cass discovers two disturbing facts: One, she is now inside the body of a troubled teenager, and two, the former owner of this body committed suicide, but only Cass knows that. Everyone else believes Casey has survived, but suffered a complete memory loss. Cass has two choices: to take on Casey’s life and turn it around, or to confess the truth about her reincarnation and end up in a mental asylum. Given this second chance to life, Cass decides to take on the future life of Casey—the frightening ghoul-faced teen with short, black, spiky hair. Every person around Cass has an ulterior motive and discovering the truth of Old Casey’s life is more complicated than the “new math” she is forced to learn in school. In addition, Cass has to contend with raging teenage hormones and the prior crimes of Old Casey, which she might not remember, but everyone else certainly does. However, her biggest frustration concerns her feelings for her father’s rugged security specialist who sees her only as a teenager and doesn’t want to explore the mutual attraction between them. As determined as Cass is to turn this life around, Old Casey’s enemies are just as determined to end her life. She has no idea whom she can trust, but she’ll never survive going it alone.   Excerpt:   Upon settling down on the toilet, Cass noticed the floor to ceiling mirror facing her and screamed at the sight of the creature within it. Short black hair spouted about its head, black circles surrounded both eyes and fell like triangular knives down the cheeks. Black lips, stretched in horror as if in a nightmare. Pulling up her pants, she moved closer to the mirror. She was a ghoul, an honest to God ghoul! The door crashed open and her father stared at her, fear and panic clear in his eyes. She touched her face. “Please tell me these aren’t permanent.” His panic remained a second longer as her words filtered into his brain and then he pulled her into his arms. “Don’t worry, we will get them removed—if you want to…” “If? Oh, I definitely want them removed,” she said. How can I turn around my life if I look like the walking dead from a low-grade monster movie?       SAVING CASEY BUY LINKS BonoBooks     Amazon     Barnes&Noble   Check out the Saving Casey Trailer: http://youtu.be/WxcaMP0Dgzc        You can find our fabulous author Liza O'Connorhere...   Blog and Website: http://www.LizaOConnor.com Facebook Profile: http://www.facebook.com/liza.oconnor.90 Twitter: https://twitter.com/Liza0Connor  Liza, it was a pleasure having you here today and please come back any time !! Readers, thanks for stopping by today and make sure you get your copy of Saving Casey ! Until next time, happy reading~ Krista

But will she choose to let Trevor be the man? When Tess kidnaps her niece, her life changes. She must make some hard decisions. Does she trust the lawman that promises her redemption, or does she trust the cowboy that promises her nothing but himself?  Excerpt:

I raced across the remaining bit of buckled concrete toward hope, barely reaching the dock in time to scramble aboard the last boat for the mainland.  Glancing around the small craft, I relaxed and settled into my seat.  Jake was not on board as I worried he would be.  Even though I left him arguing with the site supervisor, I still feared he would stop me from leaving.

Peering toward the far shore, my goal in sight, I sucked in one ragged breath as the boat headed into the bay.  But just a glimpse of movement drew my attention back to the island.  I turned to see Jake rushing toward the ramshackle dock and pulling himself up short when he reached the edge.  Across the gently slapping surf, his eyes met mine and I was certain the chase wasn't over.

Book Blitz: Safe

Safe by C. Kennedy   They met at ten, they kissed at twelve, and were madly in love at eighteen.  Caleb is the captain of the swim team and the hottest senior in school.  Nico is small and beautiful and has an Italian father who rules with an iron fist.  Literally.  Nico is never safe from his viscious father.  One morning Caleb forgets himself and pecks Nico's lips at school.  A teacher sees them and tattles to the Headmaster.  Accidentally outing themselves is the least of their problems.  The ball set in motion by the school's calls to their parents may get Nico killed. About the Author: Talking about yourself is a cruel form of torture.  Tall or short?  Short.  Big or small?  Small.  Blonde, green...Have I said enough?  Or did you want something like this? Raised on the mean streets and back lots of Hollywood by a Yoda-look-alike grandfather, C. Kennedy doesn't conform, doesn't fit in, and is epic awkward and lives to perfect a deep-seated oppositional defiance disorder.  In a constant state of fascination with the trivial, Kennedy contemplates such weighty questions as If time and space are curved, then where do all the straight people come from?  When not writing, Kennedy can be found taming waves on western shores, pondering the nutritional value of sunsets, appreciating the much maligned dandelion, unhooking guide ropes from stanchions, and marveling at all things ordinary.

Excerpt:
The lunch bell rings and Caleb bolts from his seat. Once in the hall, he pulls his cellular from his pocket and rereads the text message from his dad. Man, I’m in so much shit, Caleb thinks morosely. He races to his locker and prays that Nico will be there waiting for him. He rounds the corner and searches through the bustling, milling students. Nico isn’t there. Crap. He needs to find him, and quick. He jogs to his locker, spins the combination lock, and curses under his breath when it won’t open. He stresses and has to do it three times before he gets the damn locker open. Be easy, Caleb. It isn’t the end of the world. Whom was he kidding? It’s a freakin’ disaster.
The students who pass give him looks. By now, they know. Shit, where in hell was Nico?
“Hey,” Liam says casually as he finds Caleb at his locker.
Caleb returns a soft “Hey.”
“What’s going on, man?” Liam whispers.
Caleb doesn’t know what to say as he slams the locker door and turns to him. “What’d you hear?”
“They’re saying you kissed Nico.”
Caleb meets Liam’s questioning gaze. Short of Nico, Liam was his BFF. There was no sense in lying to him. The word was already out. He nods once.
“Yeah? It’s true? You’re gay?”
Caleb takes a deep breath and releases a shuddering sigh. “Yeah.”
“Seriously?”
Caleb runs a nervous hand through his unruly blond hair. “Yeah.”
Liam claps him on the back. “No shit. You could have told me, man.”
Caleb sighs again, a tremble on the air. “Sorry, man. I’ve never known how to tell anyone.”
Liam gives him a warm smile. “Yeah, you gotta feel totally awkward, bro. You gonna make practice today?”
This surprises Caleb. “You’re okay with it?”
“Fine, bro. To each his own, you know? And Nico’s a great guy.”
Caleb breathes a giant sigh of relief. “Thanks, man.”
“No problem. You gonna make practice today?”
“Doubt it. The school called my dad. He’s picking me up after school.”
“That going to be a hassle? We got State Finals on Saturday and you’re our Captain. We depend on you, bro.”
Caleb smiled a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. It was going to be a serious hassle. “I’ll be okay for Saturday. Can you lead practice for me today?”
“No problem. Text me tonight when the sentencing is over. See you at our table?”
“Yeah, I gotta find Nico.”
“Yeah, okay. See you there.”
“Liam?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks.”
Liam waves him off as he walks away.
That definitely went better than expected. Liam had always been cool, though, and a good friend. The rest of the world? They usually sucked.
Caleb worries about Nico. Nico isn’t good with confrontation. Nico is afraid most of the time. Nico is only safe when he is with Caleb. He has to find Nico. Now.
He jogs down the hall, making his way through the throng of students. A girl giggles and puts a hand over her mouth then points at him. The girl next to her bursts out laughing. They know. This is a freakin’ disaster.
Caleb rounds another corner and doesn’t see Nico at his locker. Shit. Nico has Phys. Ed. right before lunch. He exits the building and makes his way to the gym. He checks down each row of lockers and doesn’t see Nico. Damn it, where in hell is he? “Nico, you in here?” he calls as he heads toward the bathroom and shoves through the door.
There, squatted with his face buried in his arms, is Nico in tears.
“Ah, shit,” Caleb says under his breath as he pulls Nico into his arms.
A strangled sob escapes Nico as he wraps his arms tightly around Caleb’s waist. “The school called my dad. He’s coming to get me after school.”
“I know. They called mine, too.”
“My dad’s going to kill me, Caleb.”
Caleb winces at Nico’s words as he pets the curls he loves so much. Nico’s dad is dangerous. Nico’s dad is someone to be terrified of. “My dad will talk to him.”
“What’s going to happen to us?”
“The worst the school can do is suspend us.”
“No, I mean, what about us?”
Caleb lifts Nico’s chin with gentle fingertips. “What do you mean, what about us? We’re fine. Nothing’s going to happen to you and me.”
“You’re not going to break up with me?”
Pain sears Caleb’s heart. How could Nico even think such a thing? “Nicolò, baby, don’t even go there. I love you. Always have, always will. In a few months we’ll be off to college and all of this will be behind us.” He places a chaste kiss on Nico’s lips.
“’Kay.” Nico releases a long, shuddering sigh and squeezes Caleb’s waist before he pulls away. He rubs the tears from his eyes with the heels of his hands then goes to a sink and rinses his face with cool water. “I’d die if I lost you, Caleb.”
Caleb cards his fingers through Nico’s curls. “Nothing like that is ever going to happen. Everything will be okay.”
Nico turns the water off and reaches for a paper towel. “What’s your dad going to say?”
“He’ll think it’s bad news, but he’s easier than Mom is. Let’s get to lunch. You need something to eat.”
“’Kay. People are already talking.”
“I know. Mr. Higgins obviously couldn’t keep his big mouth shut. Liam asked me about it and I told him the truth. He’s okay with it.”
Nico looks up at Caleb as Caleb leads him by the elbow from the gym. “He is?”
“Yeah, he’s fine with it.”
* * *
Caleb reads his dad’s text message one last time before the bell rings ending his last period class. THE SCHOOL CALLED. BE ON THE FRONT STEPS AT 3. He doesn’t know what the school told his dad and he doesn’t want to be the one to tell him. God, how could he be so stupid as to kiss Nico at school?
It just happens. They’re always so careful at school, but he’d been kissing Nico for almost six years and isn’t thinking. It just seems natural to kiss him when they part to go their separate ways to class. Of all people, Mr. Higgins, the peevish algebra teacher, had to be the one to see them. All they do is peck lips. It isn’t even a full-on snog. Mr. Higgins acts as if they were caught in flagrante delicto. He scolded them heartily then rushed off to the Headmaster’s office. Man, they’d done so much more than kiss. If Mr. Higgins only knew. Caleb isn’t sure whom he’s angrier with. Himself or Mr. Higgins. Shit, what a freakin’ disaster.
This is the first time in his seventeen-and-a-half-year existence that he’s ever been in trouble. He suddenly has a horrible thought. A suspension would get him kicked off the swim team. He’d worked hard to become Captain of the team, swimming every afternoon after school for three hours. Three hours every day that he could have spent with Nico. Three more hours each day that Nico could have been safe. Fear and anxiety claw at his heart and his mind reels with rising fear.
The bell rings and he flies from his seat.

The Publisher's Proposal by D.F. KriegerSonia Hightower Daring Desires Book 2 Sylvia must fess up her secrets, but things gotoo far when Ivy, the publisher at Daring Desires Publishing, wants to use Katia as her own personal learning tool for BDSM.  What ensues is a catfight between editor andboss, as both try to win over author Katia Lane. Katia never expected BDSM to come up when she's invited to meet with the publisher for dinner, but sure enough, a menage is in the making.  What Katia can't understand is, if Sylvia asked her to come, why isn't the editor enjoying this too?  Be Warned:  menage sex(FFF), BDSM, voyeurism, sex toys  Excerpt:   Determined to win this little game, Sylvia moved up to her sub's neck.  She nipped and kissed lightly before running her tongue across Katia's earlobe.  The whimper turned into a moan and Sylvia couldn't help glancing at Ivy out of the corner of her eye.  Her boss had one of Katia's legs lifted and she was mirroring Sylvia's Motions on the inside of Katia's thigh. Oh, now that's dirty.  I would have started by kissing her ankles. Sylvia narrowed her eyes and decided to beat the redhead to the punch.  They all knew where this was headed, and she'd be damned if Ivy got to her sweet spot first.  She adjusted so that she was seated on the edge of the bed, her feet still planted firmly on the floor, and her ass hanging half off.  It wasn't too comfortable, but it gave her access to what she wanted.  Katia's pert nipples beckoned her like cupcakes in a bakery.  She wanted nothing more than to lick the sweet tips of them until she was satisfied.   As Sylvia began lowering her head, she noticed Ivy had paused to watch her. The woman's eyes were narrowed, as if studying Sylvia's movements.  That's right, you are the student and I am the master.  You better be studying hard. With slow, deliberate movements, Sylvia swirled her tongue around Katia's breast.  She avoided the nipple with great care.  When she tilted her head to glance at Katia's face, the womanwas staring at her with wide, pleading eyes.  Oh yes, she knew that look and knew exactly what the sub wanted.  Suddenly, Katia threw back her head, her body arched off the bed, and her eyes shut.  Her breast almost slammed right into Sylvia's mouth.  A quick glance down at Katia's pussy confirmed Sylvia's suspicions:  Ivy was fingering her, fast and hard.  An orgasm was wracking the blonde's body, and her moans were clearly audible through the gag.  Katia was tugging at her restraints, her fists clenched. She's right on the edge, slipping, but not free-falling yet.  Here's my chance.   Buy Links:       Amazon   Smashwords   Barnes & Noble Watch the Trailer:   Youtube embed code:        About the Authors: Sonia Hightower is a pen name for Tara Chevrestt, a deaf woman, former aviation mechanic, writer and an editor.  She is most passionate about planes, motorcycles, dogs and above all, reading. That led to her love of writing.  Between her writing and her editing, which allows her to be home with her little canine kids, she believes she has the greatest job in the world.  She is very happily married.   Sonia writes the racy stuff and argues she was here first. Jennifer M. Eaton  Writing is a crazy thing, isn’t it?  You come up with a little idea, and suddenly it takes off.  Is it that easy?  Well, only sometimes. I usually start every story with just a little idea.  In the case of Jack and Jill, it was a Christmas wish.  I never really meant the story to go past that original idea, but then when I saw another “winter” anthology pop up with Still Moments, the idea to continue the Jack and Jill story popped into my head.  About half way through writing “A Test of Faith” I noticed another anthology prompt, and giggled to myself when I placed Jack and Jill in that setting.  The thought initially was a joke, but then it snowballed until I had the story completely outlined in my head.  The problem was, that I couldn’t hop right to that story.  I needed something in-between.  Thank you Still Moments for poking me with another idea that I thought was lovely.  But here the problem comes in.  I now had several stories set aside for Jack and Jill that would fit in to anthologies, but my schedule did not have enough writing time in it to get all of my submissions in on time.As I was discussing combining Connect the Dots and A Test of Faith into a single release with Still Moments Publishing, I tossed out the idea of continuing their story through different holidays through the year.  They liked the idea, so the first two stories became "volume one."So, what’s next for Jack and Jill?  Well, it will be February in their world, which means Valentine’s Day.  But this won’t be the romantic romp most people expect for a new couple.  If Monica Dubin has her way, this will be a Valentine’s Day Jack and Jill will hope to forget.  ***Jennifer Eaton lives on the East Coast USA with her husband, three boys, and a pepped up poodle.  She hosts an interactive website www.jennifermeaton.comaimed at making all writers the best they can be.  Her Contemporary Sweet Romance, Jack and Jill Volume One is currently available in both print and ebook.  The Dystopian novelette “Last Winter Red” is available as part of the “Make Believe” Anthology.  Jennifer M. In a world without choices, one woman will find herself caught in the middle of six men and the emotions they develop for her.

Krista Damiani is one of the last women on Earth, and her patriotic duty is to make babies. On her twenty-first birthday, the government holds a lottery drawing to determine the men who will control her destiny. Her “six”, the men who win the right to call her their own, know they have to impregnate her quickly or risk losing her to a new “six”.

As society fills with additional violence and unrest, her men keep her sheltered in a fortress of maximum security. When a mysterious man arrives and offers her the chance for freedom, will she be willing to leave the life she knows behind or will she remain “given”?

Content Warning: contains voyeurism, multiple partners, ménage and anal sex   Excerpt:

"She's here." Jared's words came out in a whoosh of anticipation. They watched the black SUV with tinted windows as it pulled up to the front ofthe building. They stood in front of the grand capital tense, quiet—waiting.
A uniformed solider opened the front passenger side door and stood, surveying the crowd. He opened the back door. Max sucked in a deep breath and the sound broke the spell the other five men seemed to be under.

The crowd suddenly began shouting and the rabble of voices grew chaotic. The six men turned to watch a tall, grubby-looking man sprinting across the green grass of the capital lawn, running toward the SUV and their woman. A police officer tackled the man and the two rolled onto the ground. More officers swarmed the desperate man.
"I just want to touch her!" the wild-eyed man wailed as they cuffed him.
* * * *

Krista stepped out, and the screaming men frightened her. She saw a police officer tackle a man only a few yards away. She started to get back into the SUV, but one of the soldiers grabbed her arm gently.

"It's time, miss."

"I'm afraid."
"We'll protect you. It'll be all right. It's always like this on Giving Day. Don't worry. We will see you safely until you are under the guard of your private security."

This was everything she'd feared, only worse. She hadn't expected the protesters. Someone shouted the word "whore"; she knew the man's hateful word meant her. How any of them could think she'd asked for this was beyond her imagination.

Six young, well-dressed men stood in front of the steps of the large, white, domed building. They were looking at her with…possessiveness. The moment she saw them she knew that these men were her six, or more accurately, she was theirs.

Everything had been sort of slow motion, but then as the crowd grew more agitated, the soldiers quickly ushered her up the sidewalk. The governor didn't come out for the official ceremonial signing of The Giving right, too many threats to his life and ugly behavior had changed this day. As men who couldn't qualify grew angrier with the government, The Giving ceremony became less pomp and more circumstance; and the circumstance was, until they had the woman away from the crowd, they were all in danger. A secretary rushed out and handed the men the last of the paperwork to sign.

There wasn't a single introduction as the security, soldiers, and six young men surrounded Krista and rushed her around the corner and into a waiting limousine. They all hurried to get inside as the soldiers held back the men running toward them. Even inside the car, Krista could hear the angry shouting. The trunk slammed shut. Krista saw the driver slide into the front seat and the engine roared to life.
****

They left her alone. She sat down on the bed and air whooshed from her lungs. She shook a little due to nervous anticipation. Oh God, who should I pick? Choosing felt so very wrong to her. She may belong to these men for a long time, and the idea of alienating any of them, or getting off on a bad start, twisted her stomach in knots of nervous anxiety. She stood up and unpacked her few belongings. The closet looked so empty after she'd put her scant possessions into it. She began walking down the stairs and she heard their voices. Krista paused to listen, feeling a bit evil for eavesdropping.
"It's only right that she pick."

"We've all waited so long, shouldn't we draw straws or something?"

"For God's sake, she's a human being, not a new toy. Let the girl have her pick. We'll all have a chance."

"What if we all share her tonight? Then it's fair to all of us."

"It wouldn't be fair to Krista. If she was your new bride, would you want to pass her around to five other guys?"

"There's no more marriage, so the question isn't valid. The world isn't nice and romantic. The fact is, she'll have to sleep with all of us."

Isle of Sensuality by  Aimée Duffy

Who knew being with Mr. Wrong could be so right?

Caitlyn Hart is shooting her first movie, and she doesn't want to screw it up. Still, she's on a deadline and when her co-star, Mr. Hot Shot Campbell, holds filming up, he's immediately on her shit list. But she can't ignore his charms for long or the overpowering want she feels for him. Even though she knows he's her Mr. Wrong, she doesn't mind him being her Mr. Right Now. If only her silly heart would stay immune.

Having been burned once, Jake Campbell doesn't have the capacity to love, but that doesn't mean relationships of a purely sexual nature are off limits. After all, a man has needs. His sexy co-star with fire red hair and a passion to match ignites his own desire and he sets out to convince her a fling is the only way to scratch the proverbial itch. Little did he figure that she'd be the one to penetrate the thick scars on his heart and make him feel.

Excerpt:

Are you looking forward to tomorrow?" Jake asked.

Caitlyn's brows pulled together as she tried to work out what was so special about the following day. Nothing came to mind. "Tomorrow?"

Jake turned to look at her, the cheeky grin back in place which had her heart beating out an unsteady rhythm. "Our characters will share their first kiss."

Her eyes widened as her face grew hot. How could she have forgotten? Probably because she'd been too busy stressing over the love scene to worry about much else.

"Not particularly," she breathed. Jake studied her with a teasing glint in his eyes. Her face flamed.
"Not buying it."

Irritation flared again and she clenched he"r hands into fists. She had to remind herself to keep her cool around him. She was supposed to be torturing him, not being tortured herself. Still, the thought that in less than twenty-four hours she'd have his lips on hers sent little heated jitters coursing through her body.

She forced her stiff shoulders to shrug, mortified by her lack of acting ability in his presence. "You can believe what you like."

He pulled the cling film from a platter of sandwiches and offered her the plate. Caitlyn picked up a smoked salmon piece and brought it to her lips. She groaned as the flavor of the bread and fish played across her taste buds. Jake's gaze went to her mouth and, feeling a little vindictive, she licked her lips. He swallowed and a thrill ran through her as she realized perhaps she really was torturing him.

With his focus still on her lips, he asked, "Do you really want our first kiss to be in front of the camera?"

The vindictive thrill vanished as panic started to creep in. She was alone with a man she barely knew for the second time in less than a day. Her thoughts were spinning with bad case scenarios and she couldn't even hear the voice of logic in her head telling her she was overreacting. All she could think of was she was there—literally flirting with danger—alone with Jake and no one had any idea where she was.

"Hey, Caitlyn, what's wrong?" Jake's eyes were serious and he looked concerned. Her inner fear must have shown in her expression, but she couldn't feel embarrassed about it yet. The panic was still forefront in her mind.

"Why did you bring me here?" She hated that her voice sounded small and frightened.

His eyes widened in surprise. "I brought you here because it's the nicest place I've seen on the island and I wanted to spend time with you. Having dinner where we could watch the sun set was all I had in mind."

She relaxed a little at his words. Jake sounded like he was telling the truth, and perhaps a little affronted she had doubted him. "I'm sorry, I overreacted." The voice of logic didn't have to whisper that in her head, it was obvious.

He shrugged and a hint of a smile played around the edges of his mouth. "I won't force you to do anything you're not comfortable with. That's not my style." He paused, took a bite of his sandwich, and swallowed before he continued. "Though if you wanted something to happen, I certainly wouldn't protest."

He winked at her and for an awful moment, Caitlyn had the wildest urge to close the distance between them and plant her lips on his, pulling herself against his well-sculpted chest.

"That won't ever happen," Caitlyn said with bite, trying to convince herself more than him.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a good book in my hands. In primary school I loved Roald Dahl. In high school my English teacher introduced me to Charles Dickens, Stephen King, Jane Austin, Emily Bronte, and Shakespeare. It was then that I discovered my love for romance and I've wanted to pen my own imaginary heroes and heroines for others to enjoy ever since. Only in the last few years was I lucky enough to meet some fabulous and encouraging people to help me gain the skills to make that dream possible.

I live in sunny Scotland in a small town near the Ochils and work nine to five in a solicitors office. In my free time, you'll find me on Facebook, stalking *cough* following friends on Twitter, and may even catch me shoe shopping.

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Rachell N...

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Rachell Nichole...Welcome Rachell, so great to have you here with us.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi, it’s so nice to be here. Thanks for having me.  I’m a contemporary erotic romance author. I love words and books and travelling. And I particularly like writing and reading about really damaged characters. J I live in New York with a loving family, a mountain of books, and an evil cat named Godiva that I adore!

Do real life events find their way into your stories? All the time. There are quite a few Christmas traditions that I’ve grown up with that made their way into Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce. For instance, we ALWAYS watch Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated version) on Christmas Eve. And we always open one present each Christmas Eve as well. There are other real life things that have cropped up in other books as well.

Do you ever mimic family members or people you know when you choose characters? Again, all the time. Amy is actually loosely based on a girl I met in France. There’s a little piece of me in each of my characters as well. I’m an anal-retentive planner like Mason is, and I hate it when people screw with my plan – just like he does. J

Do you find yourself going back to the same inspiration for each story or is it always something different? Always something different for me. Sometimes I have an idea for a character in my head and I fall in love with them before they’re even on the page. Other times, it’s a scene or a plot line that sticks with me and I have to build the characters around the plot. I read a lot, and I try to read new authors as well as my favorites to keep adding to my creative well and I try to take from real life experiences and emotions, particularly.

When do you write?  Early morning? During the day sometime or all day?  After the kids go to bed? All of the above. Early morning for me usually means the witching hour between midnight and three a.m. During the day is usually reserved for business writing stuff, since I have a day job. But after the kids at work go down for nap, I have a couple hours to do things like this interview. J And then at night, after the house is asleep, I write. Usually from 10 – midnight or on those late nights until 2 or 3 am. Some weekends, I do what I call a B&N day and I spend the entire day at Barnes & Noble. From like 10 until 7 or 8 at night. Every once in a while I’m there until they close at 9.

How do you feel about marketing your book? Sometimes it’s a ton of fun. And sometimes I would rather be writing than promoting. I make my own book trailers. This is the one for Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_PrU15x2Q  And that’s really fun. I enjoy doing that. And I’ve had a lot of fun doing some blog touring. Talking about writing and books is cool.

What social sites do you feel work best for marketing? I’ve recently become obsessed with Twitter. I use it to promote my books and other author’s books. To connect with readers, authors, editors, agents. It’s a great tool. I actually just got together through Twitter with Emma Lai to do an anthology.
Do you like to pitch stories to your publisher or do you wait until you have written the story and have a final manuscript to turn in? I love to sell on proposal. It’s exciting and gives me a deadline. I work well on a deadline, even a really short one. Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce sold on proposal, after I’d written about 1/3 of the initial draft, and was on a six week deadline. It was insane. But also really good for me.

Is there any other genre that you would love to try writing?  If so, what is it? I would love to write some urban fantasy.

Do you always/ever see yourself as the heroine/hero when you write a story? Sometimes. My first paranormal romance (as yet unpublished) was sparked by a dream in which I was the main character. So that’s a cool kind of phenomenon.

Just for fun, I have a few personal questions,
Favorite 5
1)       Favorite Male Actor  - Vin Diesel
2)       Favorite vehicle - Mustang
3)       Favorite way to relax – Bubble bath and a good book
4)       Favorite ice cream – Ben & Jerry’s Magic Brownie (even tho I’m lactose intolerant)
5)       Favorite outfit – I have entirely too many clothes, so this one is really HARD. I have this really pretty shirt that I got in France that is blue and white stripes, but the back is held together with four red and blue bows. It’s adorable, shows off my tattoo and goes really well with a cute little blue skirt I have.
And for a bonus:  If you could pick any place in the world to live, besides where you are now, where would it be?  (Of course, without the hindrance of jobs or money needed)
France. Probably La Rochelle, but maybe Carcassonne or Paris. It’s gorgeous there. And I love a lot about living in France.

Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?    Sure. The book I’ve been talking about is Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Saucewhich went on sale in December, 2012. It was published with Loose Id, www.loose-Id.com
Amy Easton’s idea for the perfect Thanksgiving doesn’t include giving up the last can of cranberry sauce to a stranger, no matter how sexy he is. She will make this holiday special for Dad even if it kills her. And that means getting everything on the shopping list.
Mason Rider is home to help his mom through her first postdivorce holiday, but when he finds the seductive blonde who body-checked his grocery cart standing in Mom’s kitchen, he doesn’t know what to do. Sharing Thanksgiving with this woman and her father wasn’t part of his damned plan.
Who would’ve thought that a simple can of cranberry sauce could lead to holiday disaster? Or to happily ever after?

Okay, one last thing before we let you leave us today… Do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share but it's totally up to you.

I got Fifty Shades of Chicken for Christmas and it’s INCREDIBLE. I made Popped-Cherry Pullet the other night and it was the best meal I’ve eaten in weeks! I did modify the recipe a bit, so here’s my spin on it.
You take a whole chicken, season it up with salt, pepper, a little olive oil and cherry juice (from the can of whole, pitted cherries) I also added some garlic cloves to the mix. Let it marinate in this mix for at least an hour, and up to overnight. Lay it, breast down on a rack in a pan over cherries, put a few cherries and garlic cloves inside the chicken. Bake at 400 for 40 minutes, baste twice, flip over, breast-side up and baste, return to oven at 375 for another 40-50 minutes.

Thanks so much for having me. It was a blast.
~ Rach  What a delicous recipe, i'm sure my hubby would love it! Thanks so much for talking with us today :)Readers, make sure you get your copy of Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce! Until next time, happy reading !!Krista

   Excerpt:

Hailey eyed her room as she walked to the bed with a bag in hand. She had checked all five rooms; this one was the biggest room. It was also the only one with a bathroom. Nice, she thought, when she had seen it. Someone else’s bags were in here, but she tossed them out. Only she deserved to be here.
Her lips curved into a seductive smile as she eyed her purple lacy panties. Perhaps Flow deserves these. Her smile deepened. He still can have it if he chooses to, she giggled with the thought. She wanted him.
She pulled out her make-up kit, and bottle of bubble bath. She walked to the connected bathroom and set the bubble bath on the edge of the Jacuzzi tub. His family really does have good taste, she silently complimented. Her feet slowed as she came to the sink. On the edge of it was a razor. Her head tilted. Fear wrapped around her heart. Stop being silly, it’s a razor. It probably belongs to whomever had this room before me.
She was still uneasy as she looked down at it. She forced her shoulders to relax. Silly, she scolded herself. Forcing her hand out, she picked the black thing up. It felt cold and wet. Her brows fell as her hand released it. It landed in the sink. Her eyes grew as she stared at the bright blood on her hands. Her eyes slid up, stopping on a bottle of pills. Her breath stopped. On its label read: Valium, Dayrit Hailey, 1000-mg. They were her pills.
Her head snapped up, meeting her own fear filled eyes. Flashes crossed her memory. The padded room that lit up as the lighting shot up to the sky. A thin, cold sheet wrapped around her body, as nurses approached her with needles.
“No,” she said as she shook her head. She dropped her make-up kit. “This can’t be happening.” Fear watered her eyes as she ran out of the room. She ran from her memories. Escaping to the bottom floor to get some answers.

About the Author:
Toy Davis has always used writing as an escape from the boring reality she found herself in. She writes stories she enjoys, and hopes others will enjoy it as well. A lot of her stories and novels begin with a 'what if', and then become so much more. She loves food and dancing as well, and this is usually reflected in writing. Today she lives in California with her long time boyfriend, and two bratty cats. For more info go to www.facebook.com/authortoydavis .
