GLADIATOR II Invited Us to the COLAsseum and We WERE Entertained
Listen, at its heart, Gladiator is a campy affair. The people who know and love it best understand this as a deep truth. And so, it seemed only right to celebrate Gladiator II at the COLAsseum. What is the COLAsseum, you ask? Well, it’s that part in Gladiator II where the Romans filled the Gladiator with Pepsi, and gladiators competed to see who could drink it all the fastest… Just kidding! But, really, it could have happened. No, the COLAsseum was actually an incredible immersive activation courtesy of Pepsi and Regal that transformed Regal Times Square into a festive Gladiator II celebration. This epic COLAsseum really brought the spirit of Gladiator to life. It had that kind of lavish energy one might associate with a Roman emperor. The Pepsi, decidedly, was flowing from every corner, at least. And there were poets, shields, and many golden wreaths to go around. That’s my kind of party.
You can check out some images of the adventure below:
Click To View Gallery![Gladiators at the Colasseum Gladiator II x Pepsi x Regal collab photo_by_@conradclifton-964A9601 [50%]](https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/hostedimages/1732644489i/36225761._SX540_.jpg)

As you can tell, Gladiator II inspired us to go all in on the excitement. One of the best parts was truly the half rap-battle/half-dance-off that took place while everyone was waiting to see the movie. One of the poets of our age even created a poem around some incredibly complicated words in real-time, and it was quite impressive.
Of course, a highlight of the evening was undoubtedly watching Gladiator II at Regal Times Square’s 4DX auditorium, which is “the largest 4DX auditorium in the world with a record-breaking 296 seats, more than double the average amount of seats for theatres offering this premium format.” We have to say, 4DX was an iconic way to witness Gladiator II. Never was there a movie more perfectly suited to bringing you directly into the action, in our opinion.

Alas, the COLAsseum was a one-night affair in honor of Gladiator II. But we feel strongly that Pepsi and Regal should consider making it a more permanent exhibition. We surely were entertained by this affair.

The best thing about Fisher-Price’s pop culture Little People sets is that they can be a great, affordable gift for both kids and adults. That’s because they work as both great toys and great collectibles for your desk or shelf, like with this Gremlins Movie Special Edition collection. (Which we’re partial to since this is a holiday gift guide after all.) There are too many films, movies, musicians and more to mention, but there is literally a Little People set for everyone.

House of the Dragon Egg Light ($40)
Our thoughts are never far from Westeros, even during the holidays. (How can they be when we’re always hoping one day we’ll get to include The Winds of Winter in a gift guide?) Fortunately there are tons of great items from the Realm to choose from. We’re especially partial to this amazing, very pricey Blackfyre sword replica and the upcoming Official Westeros Cookbook. But out favorite is the House of the Dragon egg light set. It looks great even when it’s off! And if you what something even more high-end you can grab this spectacular House Targaryen sigil LED lamp which we’d simply never turn off.

You should also keep an eye out for other outstanding BoxLunch exclusives, like this killer A Goofy Movie Powerline Tour Bomber Jacket and their Studio Ghibli My Neighbor Totoro Beanie.

Many people in your life will want Mickey Mouse: Emblem of the American Spirit by Garry Apgar. And Elisabeth Vincentelli’s stunning new The Art and Making of Arcane: Portfolio Edition will be huge hit with Aracane fans.

Normally we wouldn’t recommend buying a really heavy case for your wireless headphones. We also wouldn’t typically suggest spending so much on one, either. But CASETiFY has turned earbuds into art by making them double as statues. Our favorite is the awesome Batman Bat-Signal working collectible. It features the Dark Knight perched atop the Bat-Signal which lights up! But we also love CASETiFY’s Iron Man Helmet case. Didn’t even know those existed before reading this list you know who will love getting them? That’s why we put it together for you. And that includes if you buy any (or many) of these for yourself.

Giant POKÉMON Squishmallows Have Landed at Costco, Including Pikachu and Snorlax
Squishmallows can be a lot of fun, but none are more fun than Pokémon Squishmallows. Squishmallows can be difficult to track down at times, because they can appear in many different stores, often without much warning. And they can even be tricky to find online, which isn’t the usual M.O. of a product these days. But thanks to costconewdeals on Instagram, Nerdist got wind of the fact that there are GIANT, yes, giant, Pokémon Squishmallows at Costco. You can snag a giant Snorlax plush online… but if you want a giant Pikachu Squishmallow, you’ll have to take your Poké Balls on an in-store Pokémon hunt at your local store.

How Big Are Costco’s Giant Pokémon Squishmallows?
What makes these Costco Pokémon Squishmallows so exciting? Well, they’re the biggest Pokémon Squishmallows we’ve seen to date. Pikachu and Snorlax both appear to be 24” Squishmallows. Before that, the largest Pokémon Squishmallow around was 20”, but those four inches really seem to make a big difference. You can check out some real-life size comparisons between shoppers at Costco and these Pokémon Squishmallows below this piece.
How Much Do the Giant Pokémon Squishmallows Cost?As mentioned, the Snorlax giant Pokémon Squishmallow is available online on Costco’s website. However, there’s no sign of the Pikachu anywhere. We guess that’s how you know he’s a rare Pokémon indeed. It seems like you’ll have to take yourself to Costco to get your hands on Pikachu. But that’s part of the adventure right? The 24” Snorlax Squishmallow costs $49.99 online. However, users report that the Squishmallows cost $44.99 in stores.

After Lance Reddick’s Death, Courtney B. Vance Will Play Zeus in PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS Season 2
In Percy Jackson and the Olympians season one, Lance Reddick played the role of the King of Gods, Zeus, to perfection. Sadly, before season two of the series could come to life, Reddick passed away. But now, we’ve learned who will step into Zeus’ business casual loafers and take on the role after Reddick’s death. Courtney B. Vance has been cast as Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two, and we are excited to see his version of the role come to life.

Vance shares of his casting, “I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the extraordinary cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians! There are few moments in an actor’s career when you can honestly say that you’re about to board a series that has such a devoted fan base filled with characters beloved around the world and is based on a wildly successful book series. I know that stepping into this role of Zeus will be a memorable experience, and I’ll be giving my brother, Lance Reddick, who left us way too soon, a heavenly hug.”
Meanwhile, author Rick Riordan notes, “We are so excited and fortunate to have Courtney B. Vance join us as the King of Olympus — it is truly a gift from the gods!”

Finally, co-showrunner Dan Shotz offers, “The day we lost Lance Reddick, we lost an icon. Getting to work with this fierce and gentle talent in one of his last roles as Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians was truly awe-inspiring. I felt so fortunate to watch this man stand tall on Mt. Olympus, but more importantly, I felt lucky to be able to call him a friend. Finding someone to step into this role going forward was not an easy task, but when icon Courtney B. Vance answered the call, we knew the Gods were listening. This legend of cinema not only wanted to honor the books, but wanted to honor Lance’s legacy. We can’t wait for you all to see him take the throne.”
These emotional and yet hopeful sentiments resonate within all of us. It would have been incredible to see Lance Reddick continue his journey as Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two. But it’s clear the character is in good hands with Courtney B. Vance. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two will release on Disney+ in 2025.

Henry Cavill Joins VOLTRON Live-Action Movie Cast, Sterling K. Brown and Rita Ora Also Come Aboard
You truly can’t keep a good giant-robot-lions-that-become-a-gianter-robot-guy series down for long. A couple of years following the conclusion of Voltron: Legendary Defender, a live-action movie from Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber began development in 2022. Several studios were in a bidding war for rights to the film with Amazon MGM emerging victorious. Two years later, we have some casting news and it is big. Henry Cavill will star in the upcoming live-action Voltron movie. And joining him are Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora and John Kim.

Cavill will star opposite newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who leads the film and will presumably play Keith, the pilot of the Black Lion and leader of the Voltron Force. We don’t know who Cavill is playing for sure, but it is not likely another member of the Force considering that they are on the younger side. Perhaps he will be an antagonist of some sort or Samuel Holt, the father of Pidge. We do not have additional information on the roles of Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora and John Kim either.

A Voltron movie seemed like it was destined to happen eventually, given the nostalgia-driven market that has given rise to films in recent years like Netflix’s Gundam movie and the continued Transformers franchise. However, Voltron has much more in common with Power Rangers than either pure anime or pure American animation; in the early ’80s, Ted Koplar and World Events Productions obtained the rights to two completely separate Toei Animation series.

Beast King GoLion ran from 1981-1982. WEP edited, trimmed, and redubbed it to become the first season of Voltron in 1984. After the show proved a massive success but no more GoLion episodes existed, WEP then adapted the unrelated series Armored Fleet Dairugger XV which aired from ’82-’83. They were similar enough; GoLion had teens riding in giant robot lions which formed together to create a massive mecha warrior. Dairugger XV had teens driving in super cars that would then combine into a giant mecha warrior. The writers made season one take place way further in the future than season two; it made sense!

However, there was no denying the Lion Force season was the more popular with kids and especially toy shelves. After the 52-episodes of Vehicle Force finished airing in 1985, World Events Productions commissioned 20 more episodes of brand new Voltron episodes featuring the GoLion characters and mechas.
The series would come back a few times. First in 1998 until 2000 as Voltron: The Third Dimension, then as Voltron Force from 2011-2012. DreamWorks Animation and Netflix teamed up for Voltron: Legendary Defender in 2016 and the series found new life. Its fandom rivaled the popularity of the original series. Combining elements of both the original Voltron series and the excised elements of GoLion, Legendary Defender proved to be a space opera with heart, humor, and copious action.

No word on what elements Thurber will borrow from any of the various versions of Voltron over the years. But time has proven it’s the original series, the GoLion designs and the American-rewritten characters and story that are the most popular. Sorry to all you Vehicle Force fans out there, but when you say “Voltron,” people think lions.

THE SIMPSONS’ Milhouse Voice Actor Retires From Show After 35 Years
The Simpsons might never end, but one of the show’s stars is stepping away after 35 years. Pamela Hayden—the voice of Milhouse Van Houten, Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, and more—has announced her retirement from the animated sitcom. But while she’s saying goodbye to her many iconic characters The Simpsons is not. The Simpsons will be recasting the roles of Milhouse and more.

Deadline reports The Simpsons‘ Pamela Hayden, voice Bart’s best friend, the beloved nerd named after President Richard Milhous (no “e”) Nixon—has said “the time has come for me to hang up my microphone.” In a statement, she called working on the “funny, witty, and groundbreaking show” an “honor and a joy.”
Her final performance will come in the special Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes. That ends a truly incredible, decades-long run. Hayden first voiced Milhouse way back in 1989. That debut came in, of all things, a Butterfingers commercial. Hayden’s other notable characters on the series have also included Todd Flanders “sometimes,” Sarah Wiggum, Krusty’s secretary Lois Pennycandy, Lisa’s best friend Janey Powell (though the role was recast in 2022), and Malibu Stacy. Pamela Hayden also played countless minor characters over her many years with the series.

The show honored Hayden’s retirement with a tribute video that it shared across social media. In it, Hayden talked about how The Simpsons fans love to come up to her quoting Milhouse’s line, but that while many see him as a nerd, she admires him for “always getting up” no matter how many times he’s knocked down. “I love the little guy,” she said. Speaking to Variety, Hayden added, “What I liked about Milhouse is even though he gets kicked around, he always feels like tomorrow’s going to be a better day. Whether it is or not. And I think that’s great. It’s a good analogy for life.”
Meanwhile, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening said in a statement, “Bart needed someone to talk to in the school cafeteria. We named him Milhouse because that was the most unfortunate name a kid could have… Pamela gave us tons of laughs with Milhouse, the hapless kid with the biggest nose in Springfield. She made Milhouse hilarious and real, and we will miss her.”
While fans of The Simpsons will be sad to hear one of the show’s best performers is leaving, they can take solace in knowing Hayden’s characters aren’t. The show will reportedly look for replacements. To those auditioning, Hayden has this advice, “It is a sticky wicket in the sense that, I don’t think it’s ever good to just do an impression. It is a difficult task to put your stamp on a character, but to still make it sound like the character that has already originated. You want them to bring their own gift to the party.”
While we’re sure The Simpsons will find excellent voice actors to replace all of Hayden’s characters, when it comes to one spectacled, blue-haired kid, no one will ever truly replace Hayden as Milhouse.

Idris Elba Will Play Duncan in Live-Action MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie
The live-action Masters of the Universe finally has a release date and a new home with Amazon MGM Studios. After the long-gestating Mattel film bounced from Sony to Netflix to the dark universe of cancellation, fans were not sure if they’d ever see He-Man’s sword and iconic bob come to the big screen. The last live-action film was way back in 1987, so we are certainly due for another round. Now we know that it is happening. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the live-action Masters of the Universe movie will release worldwide on June 5, 2026. That is still a long wait, so hopefully, this movie delivers the goods for fans.

The website also reported that Idris Elba is in final negotiations to play Masters of the Universe character Duncan a.k.a. Man-at-Arms. His role choices continue to intrigue us in the best way.

Alison Brie, whom fans will know from a wide array of film and television projects including Community, GLOW, and Horse Girl, has joined the cast of Masters of the Universe. She’ll play Evil-Lyn, one of the (shocker here) villains of the story. In the original animated series, Evil-Lyn is a witch and Skeletor’s second in command. In the 1987 Cannon film of the property, Meg Foster and her terrifying eyes played Evil-Lyn.

Camila Mendes, whom many of us know as Veronica from Riverdale, will portray Teela in this film. She’s the Captain of the Royal Guard at Eternos’ palace and trains Prince Adam of Eternia.
The movie already revealed that Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man in the long-awaited movie. We previously learned that Kyle Allen would star as He-Man, but that, it seems, is no longer the case. Nicholas Galitzine, who recently acted in Red, White, and Royal Blue and The Idea of You, will now play He-Man in the live-action Masters of the Universe film.

Other casting details for the movie are unknown at this time; however, Travis Knight will direct this Masters of the Universe live-action film with Chris Butler penning the script. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing. Masters of the Universe has been around over forty years, first making its action figure debut in 1982 with a popular animated TV series to follow, so we’ll be excited to see where this live-action movie goes.

Here’s a synopsis of what fans can expect in the film:
When Will the Live-Action Masters of the Universe Movie Release?10-year-old Prince Adam crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!
As mentioned, this film is slated to release on June 5, 2026. Hopefully, it will not have to move around again.
For now, we will just have to wait and see if this return to Eternia packs a powerful nostalgia punch.

LILO & STITCH Live-Action Movie Releases First Teaser Trailer
Get ready to welcome your favorite blue alien back to the screen. As we learned in 2018, Disney is making a live-action version of its 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch. The story follows the alien Stitch as he crashes on Earth and befriends Lilo, an orphan. It’s the kind of movie that makes you laugh out loud before making you cry. This is why it’s perfect that Disney has hired Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer-Camp to helm the live-action Lilo & Stitch. Additionally, Lilo & Stitch set its release date for May 23, 2025 and we now have our first official teaser trailer.
The movie found its lead in newcomer Maia Kealoha. Kealoha will star as Lilo in the movie. Disney has also shared some first look photos at live-action Stitch. Take a look below.

In addition, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong has been cast as Nani, Courtney B. Vance has been cast as Cobra Bubbles, and Kaipot Dudoit will play David Kawena. A couple of new characters will also appear in the movie. Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifianakis have also come aboard the film. Finally, it seems likely that Chris Sanders, the original voice of Stitch, will also return for the live-action movie.

Nerdist confirmed only the directorial news in an interview with Fleischer-Camp. Fleischer-Camp couldn’t share any further details about the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, but he did confirm his involvement. He noted, “I’ve been pitching it on it for months. I love that movie so much. I will work my ass off to get it right and to make a great live-action movie out of it.”

Fleischer-Camp told me how much he loves Stitch’s line at the end of the movie, “This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It’s little, and broken, but still good.” He calls it, “One of the most profound, moving lines in the history of cinema.” Earlier reports connected Jon M. Chu to the project, but the reports never panned out.

Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois wrote and directed the animated movie about six-year-old Lilo, her teenage sister Nani, and the blue alien Lilo named Stitch. We hope to see all of our favorite characters in the film. I especially can’t wait to see who they cast as Cobra Bubbles.
And if you’d like to see why Fleischer-Camp is the perfect choice for live-action Lilo & Stitch, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is now available to watch.

MIGHTY MOUSE Movie: Ryan Reynolds Brings Mouse Superhero to Big Screen
Yes, you read that right. That’s not Mickey Mouse; it’s Mighty Mouse. Although both creatures are anthropomorphic mice with more powers than your average rodent, only one of them is getting a brand-new movie from Ryan Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort Productions. Honestly, a mouse-shaped superhero seems right up Ryan Reynolds’ alley. But who is Mighty Mouse, and what are the details of his new movie? Check out some more information below.

The dinosaur game can only be used once per page.
Mighty Mouse’s movie has been a long time coming, it turns out. This Mouse superhero has actually been around since 1942! Long before Ryan Reynolds ever walked the earth, Mighty Mouse debuted in his first short film, “The Mouse of Tomorrow.” (Which you can catch below in all its ’40s glory.)
After his first successful short, Mighty Mouse also became the subject of other short movies and would go on to star in a Saturday morning cartoon on CBS called the Mighty Mouse Playhouse. You can check out its catchy theme song, below, to see just why folks might be interested in bringing back Mighty Mouse for another adventure.
According to Variety, there have been a handful of more recent efforts to bring this iconic Mouse hero to the big screen. But none of them have come together… until now. Paramount Animation will look to Ryan Reynolds to shepherd the Mighty Mouse movie to a happy ending. Additionally, Free Guy writer Matt Lieberman will Reynolds on the Mighty Mouse movie—Lieberman will write the script.

It’s hard to say what a modern-day version of Mighty Mouse will look like, especially since this Mouse has no doubt been long influenced by the different decades which he’s visited. Will Reynolds turn Mighty Mouse into a wise-cracking hero like Deadpool? There’s no telling yet. But we’ll keep an eye on all the Mighty Mouse movie developments as they come. We’ll just be very curious to know if Disney has anything to say about the similar sounding rhythms of Mighty Mouse and Mickey Mouse.
