Women in Horror – Spotlight: Kierce Sevren
The author in the spotlight today offered up the short story “Beyond the Torii,” a horror tale with a Japanese flair, in The Grotesquerie. She describes herself as a slick-tongued little imp, and has a single-minded, almost obsessive, approach to storytelling. Fairly new to the industry, she also has a story published in the Mocha Memoirs anthology, In the Bloodstream. Check out her wicked website at http://kiercesevren.com/ , which offers up her insightful blog and will soon have some free reads (“shorts…coming soon”).

Women in Horror – Spotlight: K. W. Taylor
Today’s spotlight falls on the Zen author of the Grotesquerie, writer of the short story “Dharma”. She is part of the craft in heart, soul and mind, working a day job as a college English teacher and involved in an assortment of literary projects. Her blog is thoughtful and inquiring, and she has published her works in such anthologies as Touched by Darkness from Etopia Press and Once Bitten, Never Die from Wicked East Press.
Her fans describe her work as “incredible,” “sinister” and “unputdownable” (I kid you not.)
Find out more about this intriguing lady at her Website, http://kwtaylorwriter.com/ , or take a look at her Amazon author page: http://www.amazon.com/K.W.-Taylor/e/B005Y183PE .

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Selah Janel
The spotlight turns next to illuminate the author of the short story “Sandy” in the Grotesquerie. An artist of multiple media, she describes herself as a free spirit and a dreamer, with a penchant for weird adventures. An explorer of more than one genre, you can find her horror works published in the story collection, Lost in the Shadows, and in the evil anthology The Big Bad from Dark Oak Press.
Her fans describe her work as “compelling” and “down-right creepy”.
She has a not so scary (but intriguing nonetheless) website at http://selahjanel.wordpress.com/ and you can check out her Amazon author page at http://www.amazon.com/Selah-Janel/e/B0074DKC9K .

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Marcia Colette
The writer in my spotlight today is the shadowy lady responsible for The Grotesquerie short story “Sedah Point, Arizona.” She gladly embraces her creepy side, offering up works in multiple darker genres – although she claims where her ideas come from is a mystery to her. She has published a selection of novels including her Darker Encounters series, her Werecheetah Coalition series and her Alexa Wells series.
Her fans describe her work as “kick ass” and “riveting”.
You can dig deeper into Marcia’s dark world at http://marciacolette.com/ and check out her book list at her Amazon author page.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Lisamarie Lamb
My spotlight tonight is shining upon the author of the short story “Devil’s Cake” in The Grotesquerie. Quirky in a good way, this lady was born to be a writer, accompanying her earliest works with illustrations in crayon. We shared pages in the lycanthropic charity anthology, Shifters, from Hazardous Press and the Fear anthologies from Crooked Cat (I’m in Volume I, she’s in Volume II), but she has a great deal of other published writing, including short stories in a couple of the Satan’s Toybox anthologies from Angelic Knight Press. She also dabbles in genres other than horror.
Her fans describe her work as “chilling” and “cringe-inducing” – sounds like she hits her mark.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Nicole DeGennaro
Today’s spotlight is on the lovely Nicole DeGennaro author of the short story “The River” in The Grotesquerie’s line-up. This talented lady is a copyeditor and an avid reader as well as a horror writer, so she knows her way around the written word. Her published works include short stories in the Scared Spitless anthology from Silly Tree Anthologies and Gothic Blue Book III from Burial Day Books. While she has studied journalism, she says her heart belongs to fiction writing, speculative fiction and psychological horror in particular.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Marianne Halbert
My next spotlight shines on the glinting smile of Marianne Halbert, wordsmith of “Papa’s Wrench and the Wind Chime” in The Grotesquerie. One might expect bloody tales from a woman named after a deadly weapon, but she prefers tension to gore. Well written and adept at horror, she has had her works published in a plethora of anthologies including the Canopic Jars mummy anthology from Great Old Ones Publishing and From Beyond the Grave, a ghostly anthology from Grinning Skull Press.
Her fans describe her work as “subtle, almost gentle, and powerful at the same time” and “creepy”
She has an eye-catching website at http://halbertfiction.webs.com/ and you can explore a selection of her published work on her Amazon author page.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Rie Sheridan Rose
My next spotlight author contributed the short story “House Call” to The Grotesquerie. Rie is a versatile lady with an adventurous spirit – in addition to a fiction writer she is a lyricist and a poet with a love of things steampunk and fantasy as well as horror. She and I share pages in Dream Walkers and Midnight Stalkers from Horrified Press along with the lycanthropic charity anthology, Shifters, from Hazardous Press (and the non-fiction Zombie Writing from Rymfire Books.) She has many other published works to show for her decade spent as a professional writer, a display of her dogged efforts and obvious talent.
Rie says she has always wanted to be a writer (along with a range of alternating secondary professions) and is pleased to be living her dream.
Her fans describe her work as “amazing,” “incredible,” and “excellent” – high praise for her spooky and action-filled writing.
She has a fabulous website at http://riewriter.com/ and you can find her work at her Amazon author page.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Nicky Peacock
Today’s spotlight is on the author of The Grotesquerie’s “The Red Fingers” and one of the more prolific contributors to the anthology. Nicky Peacock writes in multiple genres, but describes horror as her “guilty little go-to”. Her published horror oeuvres include a tale in the Christmas horror charity anthology, O Little Town of Deathlehem (we shared pages in that anthology as well) from Grinning Skulls Press, Another 100 Horrors from Creuntus Libri Press and dozens of other stories and poems in a variety of anthologies from five different countries.
Her fans describe her work as “entertaining” and “esoteric”. I think she’s a pretty fantastic current example of women in horror.

Women in Horror – Spotlight: Kris Freestone
My next spotlight shines on the talented Kris Freestone, AKA Vikingessa, who wrote the short story “Dead Souls” in The Grotesquerie line-up. A native of Las Vegas with a sense of humour, she and I also shared pages in the lycanthropic charity anthology, Shifters, from Hazardous Press. As well, her published work includes zombie flash fiction in A Quick Bite of Flesh, another anthology from Hazardous Press, and she has a piece in Roms, Bombs and Zoms from Evil Girlfriend Press – pretty cool!
To top it all off, Kris has expressed the desire in becoming an evil overlord…of Antarctica. I guess it`s best not to start off by setting your sights too high – baby steps. Today Antarctica, tomorrow the world.
You can find her Amazon author page at http://www.amazon.com/Kris-Freestone/e/B00DEVZNV8 and her website at: http://vikingessa.wordpress.com/ .
