Rider's Journey: Chronicle of the Rider is now available
The second book in the series Chronicle of the Rider is now available. At 67,000 words, it's a lean read.
I am currently working on the final book in the Key to Magic series, Thief. My expectation is that it will be available for purchase on Amazon and Kobo by September and my target date is August 13.
As an experiment, I plan to put it up for pre-order on Amazon in June or July.
I am also working on the first novel in the Unfinished Universe series, A World in Parts.
AWIP is going to be slightly different than my normal fare and should not be characterized as Young Adult in any sense.

An exerpt from Wizard
When the doors slid apart, he charged through.
And struck a yellow liveried woman standing in wait just inside the corridor beyond. Carrying a stack of multi-colored papers, his unintended victim went arse over pate and, bellowing but retaining her burden, crashed to the floor. He cut left, vaulted over the sprawled and now energetically shouting woman's kicking legs, and ran for all that he was worth.
Other doorways pierced the corridor, and other people were about, but the ceiling high window at the end of the corridor snared his eye and he sprinted for it. Enchanting a large pot against the near wall that held a sickly looking plant, he swept it us as he raced along. He sent this missile barreling ahead of him as a battering ram and it obligingly smashed out panes and metal framework. With careless abandon, he flung himself out through the jagged hole it had created into the open night.
The great space into which he plummeted was a bit of a surprise -- he had hoped for a drop of no more than a few manheight -- but he swiftly cast enchantments to bear himself up above a vast landscape lit like a starfield by thousands of bright, dazzling lamps. As he fluttered in fits and spurts, steadily loosing altitude, above what he gradually came to recognize as a grand metropolis, he became genuinely awed by the city's horizon reaching size and the droning ethereal roar of its ubiquitous magic. This city was a hundred times larger than Mhajhkaei and shook the ether with a conglomeration of flux whose tremendous scope he could scarcely grasp. For several moments, he simply let the wondrous and magnificent sight fill his eyes and thoughts.

US Independent Authors: Doing our part to help the trade deficit
One excellent aspect of the ebook revolution is the ease with which authors can market their works in all parts of the world.
Through KDP, Kobo, and others, authors can sell worldwide with little more effort than a few mouse clicks.
My books have sold in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, India, Japan, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Poland.
In my case, all of these sales translate into money entering the US that I quite gleefully spend here.
Every little bit has to help.

Stop using the s-word
While the term "self-published" is inoffensive in and of itself, it has become quite clear to me over the past year that many bloggers and media outlets have come to use the term in a derogatory way to denigrate, demean, and diminish independent authors.
The s-word has become a synonym for worthless, unprofessional, unworthy, and so forth. It's use in this manner is intentionally designed to wound.
Granted, most of these spiteful uses of the s-word originate with supporters of the third-party publishing system who have a vested interest in attacking the very real competition presented by independent authors, but in general people who write for a living are expected to be tolerant and should not resort to hateful bias to promote their ideas.
All people have the right to be referred to by their own chosen designation, not one foisted upon them by their detractors.
I am quite proud to be an indie and that is what I am.
