When I started out with him in the first book, I really thought he was going to be a minor character, and simply a humorous foil for Wrexford. But he had other ideas! It's been great fun letting him show his true colors!

Right now, I have no plans for his own books . . . but never say never! However, I think you'll enjoy his role in MURDER AT THE ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS, which comes out in September.(less)

The Backstory: Paper in the Regency era

In my Regency-set mystery, Murder on Black Swan Lane, the heroine, Charlotte Sloane, makes her living putting words and images on paper. Which got me to thinking about what an incredibly important basic commodity it was in the era. “History's boring," grumbled Raven, reluctantly sitting down.
"Actually it's not," she countered. "It's all about the fascinating people--the politicians, the philosophers, the artists, the soldiers, the musicians--who shaped the world.”
Andrea Penrose, Murder at Half Moon Gate

“It’s a pity women aren’t allowed to practice law,” she shot back. “We’d be far better at it than men because we care more about practical results than prosing on like pompous windbags.”
Andrea Penrose, Murder at Half Moon Gate

“Without laughter to counter the injustices and absurdities of the world, life could so easily crush one's spirit.”
Andrea Penrose, Murder at the Royal Botanic Gardens
