Eden Daylesford is a sixteen- year old Nephilim girl stuck smack bang in the middle of a war between angels and demons. And the bad thing is, she shares both of their blood.

When her mother takes her to the Michaelite Sanctuary in London to try and get rid of the deadly trait that has started to appear - one that hasn’t been seen in a long time. It could stop Eden from forming any sort of relationship with anyone, including the tempting Asher. Eden has no idea just how powerful she is.

Will she learn to embrace her new ability and accept her new role, or go back to her old life of an ordinary human teenager?

Will she be tempted?

The enticing first book in the spin off novella series to The Legend of the Archangel. Set after events in The Chronicles of Fire and Ice.

Excerpt

I ran so fast I felt one with the wind. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.  Sooner or later my mother would track me down but until then I’ll enjoy myself. As I entered the arcade I heard my name.

“Yo, Eden.”

“Eden! You escaped.”

I smiled as I saw my friends approach. “Yeah I escaped the clutches of the evil demon.”

“You shouldn’t joke about that stuff, it could be real,” said Zoe innocently. Zoe was my best friend and still an innocent. Her boyfriend Mike thought he understood all. Even though they were Nephilim too, I couldn’t let them learn who my father was.

“It is real, Zo. If there are angels, there are demons. You can’t have one without the other.”

“Who says?” I defended as I retrieve the air hockey puck out of the slot and place it on the table. It begins sliding around in a small circle, waiting for me to hit it.

“Says I.” Mike took the position opposite me and waited. I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. Zoe always says I do this thing with my eyes that could make every boy swoon, but I don’t believe it. How could one person’s eyes make someone swoon? As I wacked the air hockey puck, Mike seemed distracted by something, so the puck sailed straight down into my goal at his end. The electronic voice announced the score to be one nil and that seemed to break his reverie.

“Mike, what happened? You were totally out of it.” Zoe placed a hand on his bicep.

“No, I wasn’t.”

“Yes, you were. You totally let Eden win.”

“It was just a lucky shot,” I said in defence. I couldn’t let them think that somehow I had something to do with Mike’s off-with-the-faeries moment. Did I? It couldn’t be possible. I didn’t just cause Mike to space out and act as if he and I were the only ones left on earth? Did I?

“That never happens, baby.”

“Okay, maybe this turn will be better.” Mike retrieved the puck out of the slot on his side and placed it on the table, ready to hit. I stood ready, but this time I was the distracted one. I couldn’t get the feeling out of my head that I had revealed one of my powers to him. My mother said to never do that. But was it even one of my traits? The air hockey puck sailed straight under me and landed in his goal. One- all.

“Oh yeah!” Mike hooted, but I didn’t feel like partying anymore. I walked away from the table.

“Oh, what’s the matter, Eden, afraid of being beat?”

“No, I just don’t feel like playing anymore.”

“Oh, come on! We were right in the middle of a game!”

I walked away ignoring their pleas as the allure of the hoop game called me over. I had just pushed a token in the slot and picked up a ball, when I heard my name. But it wasn’t from Mike or Zoe.

“So this is where you spend your runaway hours?” I glanced over my shoulder and saw the creep standing behind me.

“Who are you and what do you want?”

“Don’t you see the family resemblance?” he smirked.

I turned to take a good look at him, intrigued. The guy had to be about my mother’s age, maybe a little older and had the same grey- blue eyes my mother has.

“Uncle Adam?”

“In the flesh. Now lets get out of here.”

I chuckled as I turned back around and threw a ball at the highest scoring hoop. It went in. “I am not going anywhere with you.”

Adam clapped. “Good shot. But its not surprising, seeing whose blood you carry in your veins.”

“Do you mean yours and Mum’s, or…”

“Lakyn’s?” He finished for her. “Either way, you have so many abilities you are not even aware of, Eden. And some of them are quite dangerous.”

“How do you know this?”

“I was there from the moment you were born. Trust me, I know.”

I tossed another ball in, this time in a lower scoring hoop and it went in as well. “I’m still not going with you.” As I picked up a third ball and pushed it towards the hoops, it froze mid- air. I gasped and looked back at my uncle. He shrugged.

“Game over.”

As he walked away, the ball remained frozen.

“Wait, how did you do that?” I asked, glancing back and forth from the ball to him.

“If you come with me, I’ll tell you.”

“My mother sent you, didn’t she?”

“She might have.”

“So what you just did, can I do that?”

“Everyone’s traits are different, but probably. If you come with me, you can find out more.”

“I can’t just leave my friends.”

“Yes, you can. You can always make new friends.”

I stopped walking and looked at my friends playing the Daytona. Mike was showing Zoe how to drive, which was really cute. And then I looked at my uncle, waiting patiently outside the mouth of the arcade by a black town car. If I stayed, I would never know what my traits would be, I would never learn how to use them. But I would be a normal teenager, going to school and hanging out at the arcade with her friends. If I went with my uncle, I would no longer be normal. I wanted both lives. But the idea of having amazing powers intrigued me most. In the end I chose door two. Looking back I regretted leaving my friends. But I knew they would never understand. I knew deep down that I was made for a higher purpose.

Picture Picture
Synopsis of Becoming Invisible

Becoming Invisible is the third book The Alaskan Heart Saga, a Contemporary New Adult Series about finding unexpected love and a woman’s fight for survival.

Passion. ..Obsession. ..Love…Loss.

When fire consumes the Carlisle’s home and an obsessed serial killer continues to hunt Nicole and her family, Dylan and Bradley realize the only way to keep them alive is to help them become… invisible.

Review of Becoming Invisible

“Becoming Invisible is the third book of the series and it has you hitting the ground running. Another fantastic, descriptive, heart-pounding read from Tiffany Carmouche. The story continues at a perfect pace and will have your temperature rising with lust, your heart pounding with anticipation and have your body tingling with chills, a real rollercoaster read. The intrigue, romance and suspense is perfectly written from each of the characters perspectives so it gives you that little extra insight into their thoughts and emotions, pulling you further into the story. I’m totally hooked and begging for the next installment already!”~Nicki Wilson

Another Review of Becoming Invisible:

"The story continues with heart stopping love, mystery, and action. Tiffany can weave a tale of love suspense and mystery like no other. You will smile one minute and then gasp the next and when you think you know the answers HA! New questions will come into your mind! Leaving you wanting more!  I love the strong characters of this book, they  love and the fight for what they want and keep surviving.

Saying I loved this book is not really the right word , it is bigger than that word!

I recommend this to everyone because it will not disappoint. "~ Nikki Alper Targum Arc Reader

Another Review of Becoming Invisible:

“I love what Tiffany has created here. This emotional suspenseful romance that captivates you and gets you sucked in and begging for more.  This is truly a MUST READ!!!!”~Karen Karwen

Another Review of Becoming Invisible:

"OMG! Now I'm HOOKED on this series! I'm a fan of the TV show Criminal Minds and claim to be a "profiler" that can detect serial killers. Well, I've decided that Tiffany Carmouche could get a job writing for them because this series is better than that. And did I mention that there is a sexy rock star and a hot bartender? This story keeps getting better and better and better. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat biting my nails and peeking through a crack between my fingers that are covering my eyes. But I can't stop reading! You won't be able to either. Each book in the Alaska series allows you to get closer and fall more in love or hate with the characters. You will join me in hating the villains, rooting for the lovers, screaming at your kindle, and needing to call 911 when you begin to have heart palpitations. These books are full of love, humor, action and suspense. There is something for everyone. Get to 1-clicking, you won't be disappointed! " ~Rose Puls

THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY TODAY, TIFFANY AND AGREEING TO LET THE READERS HAVE SOME INSIGHT INTO YOU AND YOUR STORY. SO LET'S JUMP RIGHT INTO THE INTERVIEW...
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I don’t think I ever realized I wanted to be a writer, it was always a part of me. In 5th grade I wrote my first novel and highschool I kept a notebook by my bedside. When I started a family though, I really lost site of the things that made me, me. And writing was one of those things that I let go of. It really wasn’t until my husband left our family with nothing and I was in the midst of picking up the pieces that I did the nano write a book in a month, perhaps as an escape. I started with the goal of 10,000 words and before long was at 80,000 with the outline of a trilogy. I think when I did that it summoned my muse. I say when my dad went to heaven he sent her back to me.  When I had the completed novel in my hands awaiting beta readers perhaps that is when I realized perhaps this calling was for real.

How long does it take you to write your books?

I would say between 1 month and 6 months. I do not set a schedule for myself. I am a single mom and for much of it I had been taking care of a mom with partial lobe dementia. So I would write when I could. Sometimes I do marathon sessions and sometimes I don’t write for months. I do not have the luxury of being able to tap into my muse when she appears for now. Someday, I will hopefully be able to, but for now I write when I can. Sometimes on a napkin or whatever I find handy.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?

I did it all backwards. I wrote the book and then figured out what genre it would fit in. My story came to me and I wrote it down. I had no intention of trying to have it published. It was for me. But because of the encouragement I received I decided to get it published and I had to figure out what genre it fit in. It is a new adult suspenseful romance.

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?

I would write whenever I could sneak in the time. Some days I didn’t write and some days I would wake up, grab a coffee and go to the computer and realize the sun was starting to set.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

I try to write about something I know a little about. I lived in Alaska. I did escape a stalker. My muse comes to me as a movie and I have to try and keep up.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?

I am writing the fourth in the Alaskan Heart Saga. Out of the Shadows a collection of stories of women who have escaped abuse. ( I am still accepting submissions if you know any woman who would like to be a part of the project) http://tiffanycarmouch4.wix.com/step-up#!out-of-the-shadows/c21jb

And I am also writing some inspirational workshops and books that will be out in December. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life and was asked to share how I moved past the pain and learned to breathe again.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I love my daughters and family! I love to dance. I love to sculpt, I love music, the outdoors and traveling.

What does your family think of your writing?

Some of my family is very supportive. Others are not supportive at all. And I was really surprised but it. The ones I would have thought would be the most supportive have been actually very negative. My daughters and some of my cousins have been my cheer leaders.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?

I could do it. I had been abused for years, emotionally and physically and got to a point where I had become lost and myself image was shot. I felt weak, stupid, ugly and worthless and writing the novel made me realize…if I can do this…if I can write a novel in a month after not writing for about 10 years…maybe there are other things I can do as well. Maybe I wasn’t as hopeless as I had been made to feel…

Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Write, write, write. Accept criticism with a smile. Rewrite with a smile. I always think of it as extra time I get to spend with my characters. And do it for you.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

My readers are amazing! I love it when they message me while they are reading the book… “If you kill so and so, I will hunt you down and kill you J”  Or “NOOOOOOO!!!!” It is fun. It is like I am reading it along with them.  I also get messages from single moms or women who are trying to escape abusive relationships who say I have given them hope. I cannot say enough about my readers. My fans are so amazing!

Here are some of the stuff they wrote in reviews.

“…Suspense, love and sleepless nights.” Samantha Truedale, USA

“…A riveting story that tugged at my heart…” Kristina Snyder “It simply blew me away.”

“Intrigue, Deception, Romance and the beauty of the rugged Alaskan landscape…are the settings for Tiffany Carmouche’s masterpiece of writing.” ~ Theresa Stuart, California

“…A crazy thrill ride and I never want to get off.” Justine Vandale, Canada “…It's fast- paced and heart pounding. It was such a rush!”

“…Outstanding romance, intrigue, suspense & action.” Nicki Wilson, UK

Excerpts:

Someone else came over to offer Nadine their congratulations, so Josh said goodbye and went to his locker to get his backpack. He figured he would meet up with Andrea and Rosa in the parking lot. He fumbled with the combination before finally getting the door to swing open. Something glittered on the top shelf and caught his eye. He reached for it, and a small scrap of paper fluttered to the floor.

At first he wasn’t sure what he was holding. It was a pink plastic tiara with some big gaudy plastic jewels. It was the type of thing he had seen in dollar stores for little girls’ birthday parties. It was practically broken in half, and the edges were sharp. Josh pricked his finger on the jagged point, and a few drops of blood welled from the small wound. He put his finger in his mouth as he bent to pick up the paper that had fallen. When he read it, the broken crown suddenly made sense and he wondered how he could have been so naïve. He should have realized from the instant he saw it what it meant.

“Josh decided to play around

Now one of his girls is under the ground.

Another has a big bump on her head.

And by the end of the dance, the queen will be dead.”

Christina's friends fight for her to uncover the truth, and free herself from his web of deception. Will she piece the truth together, or will she succumb to his delusional lies?

Excerpt:

Logan walked into the kitchen, looked directly into Michael’s face, and grinned just to antagonize him.
“Is there a problem, Michael?”
“What’s your game, man?”
Logan took a step closer and cocked his head to the side.
“I don’t think I understand. Whatever do you mean, Michael?”
“Oh, you know damn well what I’m talking about. Why is it that every time I turn my back you’re all over my girlfriend?”
Logan sneered at him as his tone suddenly changed.
“What are you going to do, pal? You’re going to be gone, won’t you? Who do you think is going to pick up the pieces of her broken heart? Game over, my friend, I win.”
It was all Michael needed to hear. He’d always known Logan was after Christina, but to hear it from his mouth was a totally different story. Michael took the dish he was holding, threw it across the room, and then lunged at Logan. The two of them threw punches and tore up the kitchen. Logan threw Michael over the kitchen counter, and with him, all the dessert dishes. Michael in turn shoved Logan into the kitchen table, and the table collapsed under Logan’s weight. Tiffany screamed out for help.
Christina came running at the sound of the commotion. Andrew and Daniel followed behind her. Andrew grabbed hold of Logan and tried to pull him away. Daniel grabbed onto Michael and pulled him to the opposite side of the kitchen. Logan laughed a mocking laugh as he wiped the blood off his mouth.
“You’re so fucking done, my friend. Get the hell out of my house before I call the cops.”
Michael pulled himself out of Daniel’s hold. He couldn’t help seeing the look of disappointment written on his face. He knew Daniel would side with Logan and not want to hear the truth of what happened.
Michael felt defeated. He stormed through the house and out the front door. Christina looked at Logan and shook her head.
“What the hell is wrong with you?”
Logan ran his fingers through his hair and smirked.
“Ask your boyfriend. He’s the one who threw the first punch. I caught him with his hands all over Tiffany.”
Tiffany let out a cry.
“How can you say that? That’s a lie.”
“Of course you’d say that, wouldn’t you? You’ve been pining over him for years, haven’t you?” Logan lashed out at her. Tiffany began to cry and ran out the back door.
Christina was torn. She looked around and noticed everyone was staring in their direction, so she ran to Logan’s room to retrieve her bag. Logan followed behind her and closed the door.
“Where are you going? Are you seriously going to leave knowing what that man just did?”
She pulled the strap over her shoulder.
“I can’t stay here. I have to find Michael.” She began to walk to the door when she stopped and looked at him. “How could you do this, Logan? If you really do care for me, you’d stop with all the games, and just accept that I love him.” She pushed past him and out into the hall.
“Good bye, Logan.” She slammed the door as she left. Lani grabbed her.
“Go… just go and find him. I’ll look after things here. Find him before he does something stupid.” Christina ran out the front door. Lani heard a loud crash from behind her. She opened Logan’s bedroom door just in time to see the hole that Logan had just put in the wall with his fist.

Picture The blurb:

Lucretia's life as an astronomer is quickly turned on its head by her eldest brother when he is commanded by the king to build the grandest telescope in the land. Her nights spent on rooftops gazing at the stars are replaced by adventure as the family move to be nearer the king. In a race to build the Forty-foot telescope on time, misfortunes take their toll. The lady astronomer finds court life to be more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. Can she find the strength inside to overcome the obstacles threatening her destiny? Only the stars will tell.

Excerpt:
Siphonaptera jumped on to the flat roof, hidden by his tiny size and the darkness of the still night. Though stars peppered the skies with diamond dust, their light would no more have illuminated the predator than a candle at one end of a particularly dank, gloomy tunnel.

He paused on his long hind legs, lifted his head, and fixed a beady eye on his prey. Three warm bodies for him to gorge on. If his front legs had been longer he would have rubbed them together in glee at the thought of the crimson blood lying in wait within his unknowing quarry. Blood. His tube-like mouth parts quivered in anticipation. He jumped again and came ever closer. His tiny belly rumbled and he stopped before realising the noise was so minute, nobody could possibly have heard it. Victory would be his! Just one more jump. Two. Three. The excitement of wanting, and knowing it was within reach, filled him in a great rush. And then he knew no more.

A sudden shriek made Lucretia's heart leap and her hand fly to her chest. Her head whipped round and her left eye, hugely magnified behind her monoscope, fixed on her ring-tailed lemur crouched nearby.

"Leibniz, how many times have I asked you not to make noise when I'm at a critical juncture?" She sighed. "What do you have there, boy?"

The lemur sauntered over, arms behind his back.

"Show, Leibniz. Show." She raised herself from the roof and brushed down her dress.

Leibniz reluctantly held his arm forward and opened his paw. Within lay a smudged smear that had once been Siphonaptera. Lucretia peered until she could make out what it was. She stepped back and grimaced. "Well, feel free to eat it. I hate fleas."

The lemur's pink tongue picked the squashed flea up gently and deposited it into his mouth. Leibniz closed his eyes in appreciation and savoured the tiny flavour before it disappeared, which it did rather too quickly for his liking. He scratched his bottom, sat down, and looked up enquiringly at Lucretia. His long black and white striped tail curled like a question mark.

"Don't ask me." She shrugged. "Let's get on with some more work before sunrise." So saying, she lay down on her stomach again and lifted her Newtonian sweeper telescope to her good eye.

"Now, where was I?" She muttered, trying to find the exact patch of sky she had been studying before being so rudely interrupted.

Picture A few facts:

I wrote The Lady Astronomer for my eldest son – he was jealous that I had used my younger son’s name in something else I was writing.

I work with an Astronomer on books that require his expert knowledge – the idea for The Lady Astronomer came to me while reading another book that he recommended I read.

The Lady Astronomer is inspired by the life of Caroline Herschel (1750-1848). She suffered from both Smallpox and Typhus, was a milliner, soprano, her brother William’s Assistant – he discovered Uranus, then known as George’s Star for the King who funded the build of the ‘Great Forty-Foot’ telescope – and most importantly, perhaps, became the first woman in recorded history to discover a comet. Not to mention the first woman in the UK to receive a working wage, from the King if you don’t mind.

5. Tara is always in the middle of something. Right now, that "something" includes a YA novel called "How Quick Bright Things" and a fantasy novel that is nearly done but has no title. In addition to writing, she loves to read. Her favorite author of all time is Courtney Summers. She thinks you should probably read her instead! No one captures high school better.

Excerpt:

Bayberry Hill Park was half an hour from Bethlehem in the small town of Castleton. The park was vast, with hiking trails, campgrounds and a stable. We parked near the entrance to the hiking trails. Patrick grabbed some maps from the information desk and we walked into the forest. It was the beginning of May and everything was green. The forest smelled fresh, like it had just woken from a long sleep, and the trees were at full. It was dark inside the trees, since very little light made its way through the leaves. We were on a well-beaten dirt path. We stopped at a clearing and sat down. Rachel and Patrick sat on a log, with their backs to the trail. Tim and I leaned against a tree, sitting in the damp grass.

“Hey, Tim, what happened last night?” Rachel asked. “We really didn’t get to talk about it. What’s up with Brian and Angie?”

Tim sighed, shrugged, and looked at Rachel. “You know how they are. Angie feels like she might not have Brian’s complete attention, so she invents a tragedy. There is always something. I don’t know. I don’t even know why I bother hanging around them anymore.”

“Why do you?” Patrick asked.

“Well, Brian’s my best friend. I’ve known him since we were both kids. We live only a few blocks from each other and used to do everything together. When Angie’s family moved in, the three of us became inseparable. Angie got breasts, though, and Brian stopped thinking about anything else. I don’t really have anyone but Brian anymore,” Tim explained.

“Tim and I have been hanging out with them forever,” Rachel added. “There used to be five of us, but it’s a long story. The point is we feel obligated to still hang out with them, even though they’re totally pathetic.”

Patrick nodded. “Yeah, I understand. Everyone has people like that.” I wondered to myself if I knew anyone like that. I supposed there had been people back home, but I couldn’t think of anyone in particular.

“So, who’s up for hiking?” Patrick asked. Rachel stood up, wiping dirt off her butt and reached for his hand.

“You guys go ahead,” I offered, knowing Rachel was hoping to spend time alone with Patrick. Tim and I got up, wet from the grass, and walked away from the clearing into a large open field. He took off his jacket and laid it on the ground for me to sit on. I lay down, facing the sky and closed my eyes. Tim lay down next to me, on his side, so he was leaning over me. He kissed me quickly, softly, and lay back on the ground. We stayed there staring at the sky, not speaking, for a few minutes. He pointed out clouds to me and I smiled, breathing in the warm, spring air. I turned over on my side, so I was looking at him, and played with his hair.

“I’m so glad you didn’t wear your hat. You have the coolest hair,” I said.

“Thanks, I think,” he laughed. “You’re so awesome. You’re not like anyone else.”

“You’re joking, right? I am so much like everyone else. I’m boring and plain and I can’t do anything.”

“That’s not true. You’re beautiful, funny, and really smart. I could tell you were smart the first time I met you. I know I never talked to you much, but I listened.”

I thanked him, blushing. I did not handle compliments well, mostly because I did not get them often.

“I don’t know. I just kinda wish I was more like Rachel,” I said.

“Why? Rachel’s cool and I really like her, but I like you more.”

Book Blitz: Unmasking Paulie Bingham by Anne Carter                                                    (with #giveaway)

Picture Title: Unmasking Paulie Bingham
Author: Anne Carter
Genre: Romance, Murder Mystery

Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Picture Synopsis:
"The last thing I expected was to fall in love with a woman."

Until Katrina Newman touched his face for the first time, British pop star Paulie Bingham was content with his openly gay lifestyle. That he could be any other way never entered his mind. Now, with Kate tugging at his heartstrings, he begins a journey of self-discovery that will lead him through the best—and worst—times of his life.

Though her faith in him sometimes falters, Kate’s love for Paulie never ebbs despite his obsessive ways, his foray into drugs and his habitual infidelity. But will his connection to a high-profile London murder case prove more than Kate & Paulie’s tattered relationship can handle?

Excerpt:

“I’m here to see Paulie Bingham.”

“What makes you think he’s here?”

Kate swallowed, narrowed her eyes, and looked past the man into the house. “Because I gave him that leather jacket on the couch there, and he never goes anywhere without it,” she lied.

“You expect me to believe that? And who are you?” Arms akimbo, the man squared his stance, tried to block her view.

“I’m his fucking mother.” Now certain that Paulie was inside, Kate muscled her way in, tossed her bag onto the couch. “Where is he?”

Sullen, the man gestured toward the hallway.

Kate paused. “I suggest you get dressed and leave. Now.”

“Oh, no way. Dude owes me money. I don’t mind giving him a little extra time to get himself together, so I’ll just hang out.”

The cowboy boots placed neatly beside the wall clearly weren’t Paulie’s style. Kate picked them up, along with an adjacent stack of folded clothing, and shoved them at the man. “How much?”

“One hundred for the hour. No, wait. Two hundred. Because he’s a junkie. Makes it tough.”

Kate pulled some bills from the hip pocket of her jeans. “Here’s twenty. Be glad I don’t bust you, too. Now get the hell out.” She flashed a fake movie badge she had pocketed just in case.

The rent boy gave her a wide-eyed stare, then hurried into his pants and carried the rest out the door. Kate sighed, waited until she heard the sports car start up and drive away.

She was hesitant to go into the bedroom, afraid of what she might find. Afraid not to.

She eased the door open. “Paulie?” she beckoned softly, peering into the darkened room. The light from a nightstand clock radio barely illuminated the figure of a man lying on the bed.

“Paul?” she repeated, taking a halting step into the room. “Are you okay? It’s Kate.” She didn’t realize she was holding her breath until she heard him sigh. “Thank you,” she whispered, then moved closer to the bed.

“I wish… I wish you were really here,” came his softly spoken words, wistful, weak.

“I am here.”

“You are always here. But you always go ‘way.”

Kate went to him, sat down on the edge of the bed, found his hand in the darkness. “I won’t go away. I promise.”

Author Bio:
“I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else,” Anne Carter asserts, when asked about her life in Southern California, where she’s lived since she was two. She cites the people, the weather and the beach as factors in her love affair with the West coast. Family, too, provides an anchor to the area, which she describes as a melting pot of humanity, “rich with characters and plots just waiting to be written.”

While romantic mystery and suspense are her favorites, Anne has written middle grade mysteries, literary shorts, poetry and non-fiction. Long a lighthouse fanatic, it was only a matter of time before her obsessions intersected and a series of lighthouse novels emerged. Paranormal elements abound in both POINT SURRENDER and CAPE SEDUCTION, where mystery, romance and troubled ghosts provide hauntingly entertaining tales set in California lighthouses.

When she is not writing, editing or promoting, Anne enjoys time with her husband and children, two happy dogs and a psychotic cat. She is a skilled photo editor and loves restoring old snapshots and creating digital slideshows. Watch for the third paranormal lighthouse mystery, ANGEL'S GATE, coming soon!

Now for a little more from Anne:
Thank you for joining us today, Anne, for a interview. I'm sure my readers are excited to get to know you a little better so let's begin.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I’m not sure I ever realized it. It was just always there. Inspired mostly in junior high school, but kept at it in fits and starts after that. First publishing credit was a poem in a literary magazine.

How long did it take you to write your book?

Unmasking Paulie Bingham, Part 1 of the Paulie & Kate saga, took me about nine months to write. Much longer to actually get up the nerve to publish it.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?

I called this genre “Alternative Romance” because it deals with the question of sexuality. Paulie Bingham is a young, gay rock star whom one day (or rather, night) discovers that he is, perhaps, bisexual instead. This enlightening moment plagues his mind and changes his life path forever.

It wasn’t a choice, per se, to write in this very different world. I had a good friend many years ago who went through a similar challenge, and he shared his thoughts about his wavering sexual preferences. His story inspired Paulie’s tale.

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?

Whenever I’m working on a book, my writing schedule is completely erratic. I will say that I’ve gotten the most done in the wee hours—either early morning or late at night. But no, no set schedule because I am a business owner, a parent and a doggy mom. Tough to map out a plan. At times, I dictate into a hand-held recorder while driving!

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I like to think my stories are somewhat unique. My romantic mysteries take place in California lighthouses. I’ve actually stayed in a lighthouse while writing!

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written something like twelve novels. My favorites are Cape Seduction and Unmasking Paulie Bingham, because these two books both inspire a lot of emotional feedback.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?

Next up for me is Angel’s Gate, the third romantic lighthouse mystery. Fans are getting restless as this book is late in coming. Angel’s Gate is the nickname for Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse, and the book will take place in 1948 Los Angeles as well as present day. This gives me a chance to research and integrate what was happening during World War II in Los Angeles.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I love to work on augmenting and restoring photographs. Photoshop is one of my passions. I enjoy travelling and have been to the U.K., Singapore, Spain, Portugal, Canada and Mexico, in addition to many U.S. locales. I am presently involved in training my new puppy, playing with my 2 year old grandson and watching my daughter prepare to graduate high school. Best of all, I like going out to breakfast with my hubby!

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?

I learned that I care too much about what people think of me. I mean, if a book is important enough for me to write, it’s important enough to let others read it. I think most authors have a thin skin when it comes to putting themselves “out there” for others to criticize. It hasn’t happened much, but it’s a scary world for any kind of artist.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say.

Most recently, I’m hearing from readers of UPB. They are using words that warm my heart, like “surprising,” “poignant,” “superb,” “complex,” “unconventional,” and “remarkable.” They say they didn’t know what to expect, but the book exceeded any expectations they might have dreamed up. That’s all good! They took a chance on the book and were rewarded with a great story.

What do you think makes a good story?

Clearly, the ability to capture a reader’s attention and take them away. Show them another world, another life, something so vastly different from their own that they become intrigued. Readers want to live someone else’s life, discover things they could never experience in their own. For example, how many people have actually climbed the cold, damp, stone stairs to the top of a lighthouse, during a violent winter storm at sea? Make that an abandoned lighthouse, six miles off the coast of California, at a time when no one knows you are there, alone... (Cape Seduction.)

Perhaps you identify with a woman who’s fallen in love with a sexy, emotional, troubled young man, only to find out your intended is gay. And yet... he admits to becoming aroused. What would you do? (Unmasking Paulie Bingham.)

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be a movie star, of course! Which is likely why my very first novel, StarCrossed Hearts, is about a young starlet who falls inextricably in love with her leading man. Jessica begins like any girl—crushing on the big movie star with the fancy car and palatial mansion. He is sexy, tantalizing, full of charm and... married. So begins a story of passion, heartbreak, devotion and promises that may or may not be kept...

Are you self published or do you have a publisher? If self published, what made you decide to go that route?

I started out traditionally published as far back as 2001. When resources such as Amazon’s Createspace and Kindle Direct came along, joined by Smashwords, B&N’s PubIt, etc., it seemed natural to try utilizing these services and thereby keep more control—and profit. Midlist and small-press authors must already work very hard to market our books; being traditionally published doesn’t gain us too much in comparison to going “indie.” I haven’t regretted the move.

Do you have a website, fan page, blog or twitter we can pass on to your fans? (See below)
Where can your books be found? Please list Your author page from amazon and links to your books anywhere else they can be purchased. thank you

Note:  As you may have noticed, I write under both Anne Carter and Pam Ripling. When my first romance was about to be published, I wanted a pen name because I thought it was cool. After all, “Nora” had two names, right? My father had recently passed away and I wanted to pay him homage by using my maiden name, which is Carter. My middle name is Ann(e), so I became Anne Carter. Later, when I started writing children’s fiction, I used my “everyday” name of Pam Ripling.
