Welcome Dee Dee M. Scott!!!

I am very excited to introduce to you and welcome the lovely Dee Dee M. Scott to the world of Serenity *grin*. Yay us!!! Ms. Scott does it all. I’ll let her fill you in on everything in her world.

Dee Dee, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?

First, I would like to thank you for having me on your site. My name is Dee Dee M. Scott. I wear many hats. I am a playwright, film Producer, Publisher, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist and business woman. I am also a mother, wife of seventeen years and a down to earth person.

Do you work with a publisher, or are you self-published? If you work with a publisher, can you share with us your experience with either getting the call or working with a publisher?

I am a publisher. I published my books through my publishing company, Ahsyad Publications.

Do you work with a publisher? Why, or why not? If so, why did you choose that particular publisher?

I am a publisher. Due to the out of the box plot of, My Husband’s Woman, I had a hard time finding a home for my novel. However, people who were reading the story were telling me that they could not put it down. It was at that time, that I realized that what I had written was different, relevant and needed to be heard. So, in 2008, I formed my own company, Ahsyad Publications, and published my book. The book was well received.  Now, I have eight gifted authors signed to my label. Each author has a unique writing style. Their stories are innovative and fresh. The first author will be released soon. Their books are well-written and will not disappoint!

Give us some background on your book

My Husband’s Woman is a story about a young, naïve woman named Meshia. She becomes involved with Byron, a married attorney eighteen years her senior. The affair causes his wife Alexandra to slowly break down, and both Meshia and Byron find themselves in a position that they never saw coming.

How do you balance life and writing?

I wrote ten of books, year ago, during a dry spell, when it seemed like I couldn’t get my foot into the door. I could have thrown in the towel, but I realized that it is during your dry spells that you must continue working hard, and doing whatever it is that you do, so that when the time does come, you will be ready. Now, I have time to focus on others things like my publishing company, stage plays and films. I will release my other books throughout 2013-15.

Where do your ideas come from?

Ideas just come to me. I think they come so freely because I do not put myself in box or allow anyone else to.

Do you have any advice for writers?

Have alligator skin and lose the naysayers. If you have a talent, if you have a dream, surround yourself with like-minded people who will uplift and support you. Negative people are Cancer. They will destroy you and steer you away from your dreams, if you let them. Learn all you can about the business and the industry and never give up.

What writing tips can you offer to new and/or aspiring writers?

Write from your heart. Find your own unique style, and don’t be afraid to use it.

How are your characters created?

I spend a lot of time making sure my characters have flaws and distinct personalities.  I make sure that the situations, and the things that they feel are realistic and can be felt when reading my novel.

Do you have any researching tips?

Yes. The internet is a good place to do research. It has tons of information you can use, but don’t rely entirely on it for your information. You can obtain a lot of excellent information from the library, newspapers and many other places.

Name a must have in a story (any genre)

A good story.

Share with us something most people don’t know about you?

I am a very private person. I love being alone or with my close family.

What do you like to do in you down time?

Other than spend time with my family, I love yoga and meditating on the word of Jehovah and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

What is the working title of your book? Someone to Watch Over Me

200285551-001

Where did the idea come from for the book?  A real life event. This is the first book in a new series. The series is based on the first title ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’. All of the books to follow will have this theme.

What genre does your book fall under?  Interracial. I write different genres of romance—mostly erotic romance. The majority of my romance novels are of African-American women with men of many different nationalities. However, I do NOT only write books with women of other nationalities as well.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?  Hard question. Hero: Chris O’Donnell, Simon Baker, Oded Fehr, Alessandro Nivola. Heroine: Halle Berry, Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Taraji Henson, and so many more. There are just too many men and women actors/actresses that I would love to see play one of my characters in a movie.

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book? A ‘What’?! With a lot of ‘I want one too’.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency/publisher? No. This will be published through Beautiful Trouble Publishing.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Do you mean the first time? (smile). I have written too many drafts of this book. The first draft took about four months.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Not sure about that one.

Who or What inspired you to write this book? The beauty of love and romance inspired me to write this novel.

What else about your book might interest the reader? It’s full of juicy characters that will make you fall in love with each and every one—flaws and all.

Okay Ladies and Gentlemen on to the next stop…

TGIF People!!! Whoot!!

Unfortunately I can’t get my website to behave so I am going to post pics of my upcoming releases here until I can get the web guy to do his thing. In a minute I am going to send out a search “Where’s Waldo” if he doesn’t get back to me pronto. Next call will be to Olivia Pope. I need somebody who can get things done. anyways here are some.

A Race for Redemption cover is not the final cover. I was going to self-pub it but changed my mind and decided to submit. So it’s whatever cover the pub decides to use. I LOVE the cover though.

There are a few more covers that I will post later to the ‘Coming Soon’ section of my website (hopefully) lol.  In the meantime take a look below at the news to see what’s coming. It will be posted again in the ‘News’ section of my website as soon as the webmaster posts it. It simply will not let me make any changes to the site :( .

NEWS

Update: What’s new with Serenity!

I have a few releases that will be released soon as well as working on trying to get my website to be more functional.

I will be uploading a few covers for upcoming releases as they come in. The covers that I have now will be uploaded in the ‘Coming Soon’ section of my website and they are: A Mid-Summer Tryst, Someone to Watch Over Me, The Men of Whiskey Creek: Hank, and The Powell’s Book One (this is not the final cover), and Foreplay on Neutral Ground (this cover will change too). The third book in the Cameron Trilogy (Sinjin’s story) does not have a cover yet… the title will probably change again (a minor detail). I will post just as soon as I get it along with a release date.

There are a few more books in process: The second book to Let’s Ride. Skye and Damien’s story. From The Princess & the Professor: Nick and Tonya’s story, and Book Two of the Someone to Watch Over Me series: Shayna’s story.

Most of you probably don’t know, but Damien is from Peaches and Cream and honestly he brings the heat.

So far the above is the lineup for 2012-2013 that are in final stages and preediting. I have not started book three in The Men of Whiskey Creek: Steve yet.

Happy Reading!

Cheers!
