Another great review for Impeding Justice

4.0 out of 5 stars Most Sociopathic Villain Since Iago, July 6, 2011 By Matthew Posner ""The Dean"" Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Impeding Justice (DI Lorne Simpkins thrillers) (Kindle Edition) Disclaimer: I know Mel Comley whom I have met online, but she did not ask me to write this review (or even hint).

I was curious about _Impeding Justice_ for quite some time before I finally purchased a copy. I rarely read police procedurals or thrillers and I am picky when I do. I'm happy to report that this book lives up to its hype. Inspector Lorne Simpkins doesn't sleep, doesn't rest, and doesn't slow down as the deadly case proceeds. She's billed as the female Jack Bauer, and this isn't an inappropriate name. Her enemy, the Unicorn, inflicts psychological and physical torture and deals out death shockingly. He is probably the most heartlessly brutal sociopath since Shakespeare's Iago. Unspeakable horrors occur in this book: turn-your-head-away, _Hostel_ level scenes of torture and depravity. As a result, I rooted for Lorne every moment, and I cared deeply about the innocent victims, especially Charlie and Sasha.

There have been some complaints about her being a strong female protagonist. Uh... Why? The book is a page-turner and Lorne Simpkins anchors it just fine!

My only suggestion is that you plan to buy this book along with its sequel, Final Justice, as there are a lot of plot elements left unresolved for the second book.

The book taught me some British slang, too. I've been wanting to learn more British slang for yonks! :-)

A twist in the Tale (Short Stories)

Just released my short story collection. Ooops made a mistake with the price put it up at $99.00! Yikes, haven't sold one yet, wonder why? But have sold quite a few copies of High Spirits and had a very nice five star review already.

2 sparkling new five star reviews for Impeding Justice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh New Voice in Crime Fiction, June 29, 2011 By Michael Wallace "author of The Righteous" - See all my reviews This review is from: Impeding Justice (Lorne Simpkins the FEMALE Jack Bauer) (DI Lorne Simpkins thrillers) (Kindle Edition) This is a great, fast-paced thriller dealing with some hard-hitting subjects. I enjoyed both Lorne and the Unicorn as characters. The Unicorn, especially, is a great, well-drawn villain. The story hits hard and doesn't let up until the end and I look forward to reading the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rollercoaster ride., June 30, 2011 By wistfulskimmie (Buckfastleigh, UK) - See all my reviews This review is from: Impeding Justice (Lorne Simpkins the FEMALE Jack Bauer) (DI Lorne Simpkins thrillers) (Kindle Edition) This book starts off with a bang. A police officer is shot and killed. His partner has been searching for the killer for 8 years. Now the search becomes personal, can she catch him before it's too late?

This had me gripped from page one. It was a high octane rocket fuel charged explosion of a novel. I couldn't put it down. The characters were believable and I identified with the lead female. It was quite a long story but I didn't feel it flagged in any way. Each time I felt we were coming to some sort of conclusion the story took me up another twisty turny lane!

Thank you Mel for an amazing ride, I am eager to read the next one now!

Another author who has managed to sell over a million kindle books.

It's a cause for celebration when a thriller writer passes such an incredible milestone.

When I first released Impeding Justice there were days when John Locke's book 'Lethal Experiment' and mine  used to leap-frog each other in the thriller chart. It was the first book I looked at every morning when I checked the rankings in the chart, if I managed to get ahead of John I knew that I'd had a good day. ;-)

I can only dream of having the success he's had, to sell over a million copies of his books in only five months is an incredible achievement.

Long may it continue for you John, a wonderful writer who deserves much success.

John you're an inspiration to every kindle thriller writer.

Happy Father's Day!

Despite my own father walking out on me when I was three, it's days like today I miss my grandad so much.

He was there... when we travelled on the overnight coach to see our favourite football team.

He was there... to tell me frightening ghost stories!

He was there... to take me on outings to Dartmoor every Sunday as a treat when I was growing up.

He was there... to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day. He left his sick-bed and returned to it straight after the service, too ill to even contemplate hanging around for the reception, but he was there.

He was there... always pulling faces at me to make me laugh when times were tough.

He was there...

But sadly no longer. When he passed away my heart ached for over a week. I know that I'll never experience a love like that again.

I miss you Bertie Harris, but I know you're still by my side, guiding me through life's ups and downs.

Another fab review for Impeding Justice

Nick's review Jun 09, 11
5 of 5 stars bookshelves: --kindle-ereader, 2011, comley-mel
Read from May 14 to June 09, 2011 — I own a copy BCID: (generate)

I really enjoyed the book I found that the words floed off the page and kept me hooked to find out what was going to happen next. I felt that the style of the story and the plot are as good as James Patterson's Alex Cross series, which are a great series to read. So is Lorne Simpkins going to be the English version to Alex Cross? Let's hope so.

I have the next book Final Justice on my kindle waiting for me to start reading.

I would like to say a big! Thank you to Mel Comely for writing a gripping story and I can not wait to start the next book. I hope my review has given the book the justice it deserves.

I find this story just a gripping as Impeding Justice. As I said in my review on Impeding Justice this series is as good as the Alex Cross series that James Patterson writes. Nevertheless, the only thing different is that I think Lorne Simpkins is better looking than Alex Cross.

I am looking forward to read the next book in the series, so Mel keep the quill going!

Another great month.

Well May didn't disappoint sales wise. Over 5,300 books sold this month. That makes a grand total of over 20,000 sold since my books were released as ebooks.

This month I've decided to test the market by upping the price to $2.99/£1.71, I know both books will sink in the UK as it's a price sensitive market. Hopefully, I'll attract a different audience in the US and the rest of the world.

I think the price for all Indie books should be $2.99 across the board, that way the writers would benefilt from 70% for all their efforts.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the Indie authors I'll be featuring each week, either through interviews or sample chapters of their work on #samplesundays.

Please support Indie writers, you know it makes sense. ;-0

Memorial day special.

This is my tribute to the men who died during the Normandy D-Day landings.

I took this video for a friend of mine who lost her Uncle at the age of 19 during the war and is buried at Colleville Sur Mer.
