Indigenous people of Brazil trying to prevent their eviction from an old indigenous museum which they have been living in for the past 7 years.
On March 22nd all of the inhabitants and their supporters were forcibly removed or arrested.
The building is being destroyed to make a parking lot :(

This stuff doesn’t get media attention because the people getting hurt aren’t pasty white people from happy white people land. This should be all over the news. There should be outrage. Brazil should be told by the Olympics, “Yeah, thanks but no t hanks!” over this as it is a human’s right violation.
But everyone will keep marching on because it’s not in America and it’s not a racism that’s fashionable to be upset about. :/

Heh. I know this is getting more attention lately and that’s a GOOD thing but it’s amusing to watch people just now finding out about this. “A YEAR?!” they scream and those of us fighting the system are like “well yeah at a minimum…” and they freak out. It’s amusing in a sort of depressing way.

Standing amidst the bookshelves in Half Moon Bay, my next move was simply to make this imaginary accident real. I spent days shifting and arranging books, composing them so that their titles formed short sentences. The exercise was intimate, like a form of portraiture, and it felt important that the books I selected should function as a cross section of the larger collection.”
