The Kickstarter Needs You

I don’t think you’re gonna get any funds for this but good luck

this is the wrong website, I’m sorry OP I know you’re probably gonna get hate mail for this.

Sad but true.

I’m a bit more optimistic. I hope it gets the funding, this is definitely something that needs research.

What these comments tell me is that Tumblr is full of people who think that these facts are second rate because they are about men. Let that sink in.

Hell don’t send hate to the OP, send it to me because if you’re the type of person that totally disregards these statements then I highly doubt you have a very good argument outside of OH WELL PEOPLE THAT REPRESENT ME HAVE IT WORSE.

It is very worth mentioning that the person who started this project is a woman and, before this film, created a film called “Miss Representation" about how media contributes to the under-representation of women.

Miss Representation was awesome and sad.

"This is the wrong website" … that hurts so much to read. That the overall tumblr community is not the right community to help create an educational documentary about societal pressure to conform, and how that harms an entire demographic.

The Mask You Live In documentary will examine how gender stereotypes are interconnected with race, class, and circumstance, and how kids are further influenced by the education system, sports culture, and mass media - video games and pornography in particular. The film also highlights the importance of placing emphasis on the social and emotional needs of boys through healthy family communication, alternative teaching strategies, conscious media consumption, positive role modeling and innovative mentorship programs."

Our Goal: To make a film that sparks a national conversation around masculinity and ultimately creates a more balanced, equitable society for all."

sounds solid to me

yeah, men are also negatively affected by patriarchy! masculinity needs to be examined as an institution, and that includes how it effects men. i am gonna be checking this project out!!!

Back this, and then read this: http://www.amazon.com/Stiffed-The-Bet...

Patriarchy hurts men too, and to forget that is to ignore half the problem with patriarchy and reduce our chances of ever getting rid of it.

If you’re unemployed, it’s not because there isn’t any work.

Just look around: A housing shortage, crime, pollution; we need better schools and parks. Whatever our needs, they all require work. And as long as we have unsatisfied needs, there’s work to be done.

So ask yourself, what kind of world has work but no jobs? It’s a world where work is not related to satisfying our needs, a world where work is only related to satisfying the profit needs of business.

This country was not built by the huge corporations or government bureaucracies. It was built by people who work. And, it is working people who should control the work to be done. Yet, as long as employment is tied to somebody else’s profits, the work won’t get done.

Was expecting classist bullshit, got the exact opposite
