Malala Yousafzai, in a 2011 interview with CNN, discussing her activism on behalf of girls seeking education in Pakistan.
YES YES YES!! I love this. FOREVER REBLOG!!
YOU GO GIRL!
I’m going to point out again for those who don’t click links: This young woman was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban for speaking out on behalf of women’s rights in Pakistan.
She is fifteen years old. She is also still alive. It is likely that she will suffer lifelong language and coordination difficulties given where she was shot (left side of her head) but she hasn’t given up her fight.
While Islamic clerics in Pakistan have issued a Fatwa against the men who tried to murder her, the Taliban has re-iterated its intent to murder her and her father.
I can’t express how much of a hero this woman is. She’s only fifteen, and yet she’s faced such impossible odds, and she’s still fighting. I just wish there was something I could do to help her.

This makes me want a video game about a zombie apocalypse that only affects men so it’s up to the housewives of 50s’ America to save humanity.
…saving this idea for class.
i would play the heck out of that game, it is an amazing idea.
Also can there be a character design screen so you can make your little housewife?
I think it’d be entertaining to see what guys could come up with for making their female-selves. If you ask me.
I would so play this game.
I would suck at it but I would play it.
I’ve never played a zombie game, but you got me at 50’s.
Hngggggggg I love 50s clothes give it to me
OMG I already thought of some sort of premise:
In 1953 a certain laboratory on an undisclosed location developed a serum that could genetically modify humans, giving them enhanced speed, agility, strength, and brainpower.
Scientists found a way to modify the serum such that it could only activate itself in the presence of a Y chromosome, thus isolating the effects to men, mostly because of female discrimination at the time.
The serum was a success, and sales skyrocketed just a few weeks after its release.
What the developers did not anticipate, though, was the human body’s incapacity to handle the serum. The mental and physical over-exhaustion triggered a mental decay which starts out slow, but speeds up exponentially within a few months after usage of the serum. The brains of the users are left with only the most basic survival reflexes, transforming the users into strong, fast, agile, emotionless human shells, devouring any mobile life form in their path.
Bites from the affected individuals could place copies of the rogue serum into the bodies of the bitten, giving them the symptoms. Shortly after, the serum evolved into a sort of genetic virus, causing mental decay in just days. No one was safe. No one…
…except the women.
*cue in epic music*
Can you imagine the shitstorm this game would cause. I’d laugh pretty hard.
Would still play it though.
Not gonna lie, I’d play the shit out of this.
I approve of this concept 100%
CAN THIS BE A THING PLEASE?
This sounds amazing, and I need it in my life.
Someone make this. Please.
yes yes YES

Elizabeth Warren Asks The Most Obvious Question Ever And Stumps A Bunch Of Bank Regulators |
At a Senate Banking Committee hearing on Thursday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) asked the nation’s top financial regulators why Wall Street firms who broke the law were not taken to trial.
“We face some very special issues with big financial institutions,” she said. “If they can break the law and drag in billions and billions in profits, and then turn around and settle — paying out of those profits — they don’t have much incentive to follow the law. It is also the case that every time there is a settlement and not a trial, we didn’t have those days and days and days of testimony about what those financial institutions had been up to.”
Warren asked how tough the financial regulators were and questioned them about the last time a major Wall Street firm had been put on trial.
Thomas Curry, the Comptroller of the Currency, said his primary duty was to correct deficiencies in the financial system and that it wasn’t necessary to bring anyone to trial. Elisse B. Walter, the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, was also unable to recall when a Wall Street firm had been taken to trial.
“I just want to note on this, there are District Attorneys and U.S. Attorneys who are out there every day squeezing ordinary citizens on sometimes very thin grounds and taking them to trial in order to make an example, as they put it,” Warren said. “I’m really concerned that too big to fail has become too big for trial. That just seems wrong to me.”

At 1:20, she asks the question we’ve all been wanting someone to ask FOREVER. Then a government lawyer stumbles over his words.
At 2:20, she rattles off another one. Then a government lawyer stumbles over his words.
At 2:55, she asks another lawyer the same question. Said lawyer then tries to not stumble over her words.
At 3:25, she asks the same question again. That lawyer asks for some time.
At 3:45, she gets our back and goes for the knockout punch.
And then right after that you reward her good behavior by sharing this with everyone on the Internet. You know you want to.
Remind me again how the USA feels it has the grounds to piously accuse other countries of deep corruption again?
How sad is it that even the mention of accountability by banks seems so strange that people are applauding it?

Share on Facebook. Retweet. Learn more.
On the first day of school, have students introduce themselves with the name they would like to be called instead of reading off a roster. This gives trans* youth (and anyone else who doesn’t like their legal name) a chance to share the name they are most comfortable with.
that’s a good tip for any classroom, imho.
