Creative Time & Space--Let's Get Started on Yours!

I've been thinking a lot about this, about how I can help you make the changes in 2011 that will open up a whole new world of creativity. On the one hand, I believe that if everyone would get a copy of  Creative Time and Space  and read it cover to cover AND follow all the advice and tips and recommendations in it, that would pretty much take care of it right there. They would be well on their way, indeed.

On the other hand, I know this isn't going to happen. Not for everyone. Because lots of people *want* to make the changes necessary for making their lives more the way they'd like them to be, but they just can't take that first step. They can't make the first little change that will lead to other changes and revelations and new ways of thinking about what it is that you really want to do with your one marvelous life. So, in 2011, I'm going to help you. I haven't gotten it all figured out yet, but I'm working on it, and I'm having a blast brainstorming ideas with Moe. If you read the tweets, you were probably scratching your head and worrying about me the other day when I was doing this, brainstorming with my cat. But it turns out he has EXCELLENT ideas.
Anyway, to get us started, I've done a video review of the book (because I had to do it anyway and figured I'd just make it a little longer and more fun). It gives you a peek inside the pages, which is always nice. You're scoffing and going, "She just wants us to buy the book." Of COURSE I want you to buy the book! If I didn't think it was a wonderful and supremely useful book, I wouldn't have bothered to do it. I'd have done something else in those months. But even if you're not going to go book shopping, you'll like the movie. Because it has more Tom Braxton music, for one thing~~and for another thing, I wanted to show people who think it's a book that's only about arranging your studio space and making organizational lists that, by "time" and "space," I mean a whole lot more than just the physical stuff you can measure.
Here's the video:
Then, as a little jumpstart (and because I wanted to figure out how to do PDF's and make them available online, and although this method is not making me sing in delight, at least I made it work and can now go on and figure out another, better, happier way to do it), you can click here to print a copy of the worksheet. What you're going to do with this after you print it is to think about all the things you do during the day, from mundane stuff to your day job to household chores, and you're going to think about those and figure out which column they go into and put them there. We'll do more with it later--right now, you're just going to put things in categories. You might want to print off several pages, depending on how serious you want to be about this.
Are you ready? 2011 is going to be fabulous~~I can feel it. The new website is going to launch, there's going to be this wonderful community of like-minded creative people sharing ideas and inspiration. What better time to work on your creative life?
Let's get started~~

Book Signing and Art Night in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

After we left Minneapolis, we spent a wonderful few days at Valley Ridge Art Studio, but that's another story for another day (and another book), so never mind that now.
Then we zipped across Wisconsin to Manitowoc, where the fabulous Kim Geiser hosted a book signing/art night at her home studio, a way-cool building that has her studio and shop on the first floor and, upstairs, the home she shares with her husband and daughter Molly.

When we arrived, this fabulous welcome awaited us. Yummy...

Book Signing in Minneapolis with Roz Stendahl

Like an exercise in prepositions, isn't it?
So after we were in Raleigh and Asheville, we went to Minneapolis to do a signing with Roz, who is, of course, in  Creative Time and Space . We'd never been to Minneapolis--hell, we'd never been east of anywhere, unless you count the Gulf Coast.
Minneapolis was beautiful. Roz and Dick (snort) live just a few blocks from the Mississippi River (and who knew it ran right through the middle of the city? Not I, for sure. I seem to suck a lot worse at...

Book Signing at Malaprop's in Asheville, North Carolina

The next day we drove on to Asheville, where we had a signing at Malaprop's, a local independent bookstore that hosts tons of events.  It was a little weird, because the person with whom I'd set this up wasn't there that day, and there was nothing about me on the calendar or their signs--they had information about all the other events, but not mine. I wasn't even sure they were still planning on having it, in fact--there were a couple of signings like this, and it was quite unsettling. I much...

Last Month's Book Signing in Raleigh, North Carolina

Our hostess was Penny Arrowood,  and she is just fabulous. She picked us up in the morning and showed us around her hometown, taking us to the new art museum, which is gorgeous.
She's part of the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild, and they are wonderful, wonderful people, indeed. Creative and funny and just really nice.
The book signing was at Jerry's Artarama, and, man! do they know how to do events!
They had everything set up with signage
and food and a place for everyone to sit and visit. Plus...

Book Signings for Creative Time and Space

We had a bunch of fabulous book signing events along the way of the Big-Ass Eastern Road Trip, and I thought it would be fun to show some of the photos from them.
OK. The first one was at Art and Soul in Virginia, where Ginny generously let me have a table and set out the books. (No, that's not me in the white print jacket at the left edge--you can see part of me over at Robert's table. Someone else is being me so I can goof off, apparently.)
It was vendors' night, and my table was between R

Book Signing at Stamp Salado!

We'll be at Stamp Salado in Salado, Texas, for a book signing on Saturday afternoon, April 24th, from 1-3 pm. You can find out more about it here, and you can find out where in the world Salado is by going here--it's about halfway between San Antonio and Dallas on I-35. Not too far from Austin--make it a weekend and take a class at Shady Ladies art retreat, too!
