Friday Call for Submissions Love <3 The Hunger

The Hunger: Seeking Submissions of Visceral Writing and Artwork

Deadline: December 15 (Rolling)

“Send us work that bleeds. We want to be devoured.”

The Hunger is a new journal of visceral writing that publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction, hybrid work, and visual art in three issues yearly, appearing in the Winter, Spring, and Fall. The theme of “hunger” is not confined only to food, but hungers and thirsts of all kinds: the craving for connection, the human need to be filled or emptied, the devastating desires that define our most alive moments.

For full submission guidelines visit www.thehungerjournal.com/submit.

At twelve, I took my confirmation name from St. Margaret of Scotland, wife of King Malcolm, who was particularly known for feeding the poor, for, though she was a queen, going out among them daily, and for inviting hundreds of the poor into the castle to eat.

It’s All Saints Day.

Make art about a saint.

Some Tiny Call for Submissions Love <3 Tiny Text

I’ve had a couple of these accepted. So much fun!

Tiny Text Calls for Submissions

Tiny Text publishes teeny tiny Twitter-length fiction and memoir: each piece must be 140 characters or less, including spaces and punctuation—no other limits except quality. Tiny Text is also interested in serialized fiction and memoir, as long as each section is 140 characters and can stand alone while also contributing to the whole.

Please send up to three pieces at a time via email (at teeny.tiny.text@gmail.com) or direct message on Twitter (at @Tiny_Text). Tiny Text does not publish bios nor titles, but does accept tweets that have previously appeared in other places.

If your work is chosen, Tiny Text asks for first electronic rights and non-exclusive rights, and that you please include “First published by Tiny Text” as an epigraph for your story or essay if it’s later published elsewhere.
