I Ain’t No Freakin’ Monument to Justice!

It’s nobody’s fault I gave my books away for free.

I think a lot of authors who got sucked in to the freebie phenom are feeling like Ronny Cammareri these days. I know I am. I’m leaving Space Junque free at Amazon and iTunes as a lead-in to the Apocalyptos, but nothing else will be free again.

If a story doesn’t give someone enough pleasure for the price of a venti quad no-foam latte in exchange, then that’s the way it is. But I’m not giving them away any longer. As Zoe Winters says, I’m no one’s entertainment slave.

Russell Blake explains things very well .

The May ReviewPalooza $100 Gift Card Winner Is … Julie H!

And the first ReviewPalooza $100 gift card winner is …

Julie H!

Here is Julie’s winning review, for Firebird (Bleeder) at Amazon:

4.0 out of 5 stars  Phenomenal piece of work! , April 19, 2012

By Julie H.  (Acworth, GA, United States) -  See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase ( What’s this? )
This review is from: Firebird (Apocalypto 3) (Kindle Edition)

Bleeder is unlike any story I have ever read. It is a story of a post apocalyptic world where only a select few females have been given the gift of fertility. They are given the highest rank in the world and lavished with anything they desire. There is only one draw back. They are not allowed to fall in love. They must produce their offspring and move on to the next contract. This system works for a while but inevitably the roles of these women become more than at least one of them can bear.

I loved this story. I loved all the information we learn in this book. It answered some questions I had from the first two books but I hope there are more installments because I still have more!

This book makes you put aside your own belief system. It takes a look at the world from a completely different perspective.

Congratulations, Julie! Let me know which gift card you prefer: Amazon, B&N, or iTunes.

Remember, if you didn’t win this month, no worries – all entries roll over into June’s giveaway. Want to enter? It’s easy – read all about it here !

I want to thank everyone for entering. It’s fun to give something back to readers who take the time to write and post a review for one of my books. Reviews are so important. Especially in the case of independent authors, reviews let other readers know if a story is not just worth the time to read but an experience not to be missed.

I wonder who will win in June!

Tick Tick Tick – Drawing Friday

So the first (yes, first) drawing for the $100 gift card is this Friday. I was going to end it for lack of participation … but people have been participating! Yay.

We’ll roll all the entries over for another month, so if you don’t win Friday take heart – your entry will be good for next month’s drawing. And you can always review more LK Rigel books for more entries.

Incidentally, if you’ve read all three Apocalyptos, you can get extra entries if you leave a review for the Ominbus edition for  Kindle , Nook , or Goodreads .

See the original post here to enter.

Bleeder is now … Firebird

I’ve been planning to change Bleedy’s title for a while now. For some reason, quite a few people are put off by the title Bleeder.

Imagine that, title fail on my part.

From the beginning, I considered Firebird as the title for Mallory’s story in the Apocalypto series. It’s actually perfect, as it sums up who she is and what she ends up being about in the grand scheme of things. Newbie mistake – I was afraid of that title. I thought it gave too much away!

All newbies are terrified of giving away spoilers. But I’m learning that in the art of presenting a book, though I don’t want to tell all, I must tell something! Even – especially – in the title. Ha!

So Bleedy is now Firey. Firy. Fiery? Birdie? argh. I’ll have to work on that. There will be new art too – it’s in progress, and it’s awesome. We’ll bring the new art out with Copperhead .

Bride of Fae – Cover Reveal

And here it is . . .

There may be some tweaks, but this is basically it. I love it! The closer I get to bringing out the book, the more nervous I get. It’s been SO much fun writing. The heat level is kicked up a notch – the story demands it; what can I say?

In fact, there’s a scene I need to get back to …

I hope everyone loves the cover, by TERyvisions, as much as I do!

Julie’s comment reminded me to put up the comparison pic:

Bride is Coming …

Ha! I just wanted to say “Bride is coming …” I’ve got Game of Thrones on the brain, I guess.

BUT – the next post will be the Bride of Fae cover reveal (which some of you saw on Facebook yesterday).

Warning! Danger Will Robinson!

Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you …

Christine Powell Gomez is a speculative fiction author – she’s also an artist.

I just picked grabbed this fabulous bookmark from her Etsy store. I love everything about it!

But wait, there’s more – she’s going to put the Apocalypto Omnibus cover on the bookmark book.

So fabu.

Update: Bride of Fae

I just thought I’d pop in and report on progress with Bride of Fae … because it’s getting to be so awesome!

Bad luck to squee over my own book, I know. Argh. I loved, loved, loved Give Me  - still do. But Bride is amazing me. This one is heavy on the fae, though the older (less sympathetic) Elyse figures big in the story.

Cissa and Max (featured in Sneak Peek #2 ) are so interesting – I think they’ll demand their own book before the series is over.

We may get a look at the cover art soon.

I’m giving the opening post for the Midsummer Dream Fair June 1st. I would LOVE to have Bride of Fae ready for that, but … we’ll try!
