Some quick facial paintings of Persephone pre-Hades and post-Hades based off on Receiver of Many. I should have done this first but I kinda got carried away with the Intertwined piece *cough* If I have more time, I’ll do a nicer render, but I think these are finished enough for my reference. Persephone’s eyes aren’t constantly on fire from Tartarus, but it was a nice contrast to the pre-Hades image.
This was a good study in understanding how people change, and it was great fun to play around with features. The key part? Eyebrows and eye makeup, haha. The skin on post-Hades Persephone is a little more blue, because she spends less time in the sun now, and I would imagine her skin would pale in the darkness.

Destroyer of Light
Prologue“Just a little further, my love… a little further.” The rabbit pelts bundled around his feet had kept out the snow, but not the cold. The wet leather straps holding those flimsy wrappings around his ankles chafed and bit into his skin.
“Why…”
“There’s food ahead in Eleusis,” Dimitris said. “Everyone says so.”
She stumbled, leaning on her husband to take one more step. “Everyone?”
“Yes, love,” he said gently. “Everyone we’ve met and all we walk with. We’re nearly home. And Eleusis is not far beyond. ” More feet crashed through the snow onto their path, a caravan of the starving and sick, bound for the promise of food, praying to all the gods that they’d make it. Dimitris pointed at the shadowy outlines of those around them, some walking faster, driven by hunger or by grief for the dead they had left along their journey. Others trudged slowly across the frozen landscape: those with children, the elderly, and the ones refusing to abandon their dead. “Demeter is in Eleusis. There’s food there. And so many people.”

“My lord, I love you. More than any… possibility, more than any future plan. The Fates laugh at our plans, anyway. I love every flaw, every virtue that outweighs those flaws a thousandfold. You were afraid I would reject you; you were only trying to keep your heart safe.”-Destroyer of Light by Rachel Alexander / @kata-chthonia

An attempt to draw Persephone from Receiver of Many...

An attempt to draw Persephone from Receiver of Many and Destroyer of Light, a romantic and erotic retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone by kata-chthonia. I’m going to do some more proper fan art when I get the books, because I need to reread the story first to really do it justice. ^^;
I know I’ve said this before, but if you’re a fan of Greek mythology and Hades and Persephone, you should really check out these books. I’m usually not a great fan of the romance genre, but I still adore this story. It’s well-written, beautiful, sexy, and has a really badass Persephone.
… I took some liberties and gave Persephone a Mycenaean look, though I know that the characters are wearing the fashion from later periods.

“Persephone smiled wryly. Draped down the front of her clothes were more jewels than the oldest, richest dynasty could hope to acquire in all its generations, much less a single mortal in a short lifetime. Any one of the rubies in her hair could ransom a princess.” - Destroyer of Light
