Hiii Rachel I just wanted to say that I've been a fan for years and I just find you so inspirational especially because I'm a writer and I also love Greek myths!!! I think you followed my side blog hynpos and I have never forgotten it tbh. But I love how i
wow thank you so much!!
One of the great things about the surgery (i guess) is that I’ll be bedbound and will have literally nothing to do but write. So I’ll wait until the anesthesia wears off then go on a tear with the current section I’m working on.
And this is your main? Ha! Followed.
Director's cut for hades and persephone training in RoM! Love love love your work!
I loved and hated writing this scene. So very much. I probably went through at least eight articles about the very quick leaf-shaped singled-handed xiphos sword and how it was used in combat, and watched historical fight choreographers on YouTube to get the motions right. Most cinematic fight choreography relies very heavily on wu shu, and though I respect that style a lot, I didn’t want to use that modality.
A few things needed to happen in this scene. First off, I wanted to showcase how things had changed between them in the month of time that had elapsed since their fight and reconciliation. Second, I wanted it to be within the context that Aidoneus laid out for Persephone when he agreed to take her to Tartarus. She would have to be ready. And Thirdly, I needed to get them into a scene that would make Hermes cringe from here to eternity for the rest of forever.
Bronze against bronze, their swords clashed. The echoes rang off the walls of the courtyard atrium. Gray morning mist and the golden poplar tree hung overhead. Aidoneus fought her back until she retreated, panting. They stared intently at each other. He gave her the signal to advance and held his sword aloft, coiling back and light on his feet as she swept her blade at him.

Some quick facial paintings of Persephone...

Some quick facial paintings of Persephone pre-Hades and post-Hades based off on Receiver of Many. I should have done this first but I kinda got carried away with the Intertwined piece *cough* If I have more time, I’ll do a nicer render, but I think these are finished enough for my reference. Persephone’s eyes aren’t constantly on fire from Tartarus, but it was a nice contrast to the pre-Hades image.
This was a good study in understanding how people change, and it was great fun to play around with features. The key part? Eyebrows and eye makeup, haha. The skin on post-Hades Persephone is a little more blue, because she spends less time in the sun now, and I would imagine her skin would pale in the darkness.

Hi!! Is there going to be owls in the good councilor? I just love those cute sky cats
That’s a good question. Possibly? I don’t know if I will specifically have owls in there, but I also very much love owls.
In semi-related news, you’ll get to see Askalaphos and his girlfriend Nychtopula in one of the preview chapters.

So a lot of you are already aware of my deep love for...

So a lot of you are already aware of my deep love for Receiver of Many by Rachel Alexander, or kata-chthonia. I’m sure a few of you actually found me through my various fake show posters, gifsets, or general ramblings about this story. Well, here’s another inevitable one.
My love for Greek Mythology is incredibly deep, and the story of Hades and Persephone has been picked apart and reshaped in so many different ways that never seemed to fully justify much as far as retellings generally go. At least that was the case for me until I read this. I’ll never regret how many times I’ve read and reread this story, and I think you’ll feel the same way if you haven’t yet had the chance to read it.
Originally Receiver of many started out as something of a fanfiction on AO3. It’s an erotic retelling of the old myth following Hades and Persephone, full of action, incredible details, diversity, spectacular vision, and an incredibly wonderful romance that will have you falling in love along with the our main characters. So many pieces of this novel are beyond satisfying. The accuracy brings this old myth to life in an unexpected, modern way. The development, attention to the details and implementation will make you beyond happy.
I honestly can’t talk up this story enough. I’d highly suggest buying the book and seeing the magic for yourself. One of my ultimate favorites by far!

A short story about Persephone’s myth that I wrote...
Do you still plan on writing an ares and Aphrodite book?
Possibly. I can write the rest of my life in this particular universe. I’d like to finish a sizeable chunk of the Hades and Persephone series before I start in with them, though.
You're honestly such an inspiring person. I'm barely an adult but so keen about writing, it's honestly the good thing in my life, the only thing that makes me feel good about myself. Hades and Persephone have also been major writing inspirations in my life
Aw thanks!!
I really try to be as available as possible. I know that may not always be the case but thank you so much :)
