How do you feel about the cover of the new Twilight book having a pomegranate on its cover?
The way I’ve always felt about those books.

Have you been watching Normal People? I think the actress who played Marianne could be Persephone in your show.
I’ll have to check that out. But anyone whose locked into a contract is already out, sadly. That’s why I was a fresh face.

Hello, internet! Have you ever read a book? Like your absolute favorite book? The one you could read twenty times and then a bookstore owner (or librarian depending on which Beauty and the Beast adaption you’re watching) is like that one? but you’ve read it twice! And then he gives you the book to keep?
What is that book?
Asking entirely and completely for myself because I’ve just finished rereading my version of that book. Or: ten books, really. But that’s neither here nor there.
So, I’m asking for book recs. Really, that’s what’s happening here.
I’m pretty much open to just about anything, unless it’s some kind of horror book. Please don’t send me horror book recs. And, like, if it’s got found family, maybe some fantasy elements, and some kind of romance, even if that romance is not the main plot, I Am In.
(Also, trying to research e-readers, which goes against my whole being as a person, but it’d be easier to borrow books that way. So if you’ve got a solid e-reader you use and want to mention that too, lemme know.)
You’re all top notch.
That book for me is Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey, along with the following 8 books in that world.
I recommend:
Receiver of Many and Destroyer of Light by Kate Alexander @therkalexander (Retelling of Persephone and Hades story, very adult)
All books by Kelley Armstrong @kelleyarmstrong Otherworld series is filled with strong, powerful, relatable women and great stories. The Cainsville series is a fantastic mix of mystery and fantasy with Welsh mythology. The Rockville books are more down to earth, no fantasy elements, and so very very good.
The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. (Urban fantasy)
Instruments of Darkness (and sequels) by Imogen Robertson. (Historical mystery)
Thieftaker (and sequels) by D.B. Jackson (historical mystery-ish with a little fantasy)
The Yard (and sequels) by Alex Grecian (historical mystery)
The Invisible Library (and sequels) by Genevieve Cogman (fantasy)
A Natural History of Dragons (and sequels) by Marie Brennen (fantasy)
The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs (urban fanrasy)
The Wrath and the Dawn (and sequel) by Renee Ahdieh (historical romance)
Nefertiti (and sequels) by Nick Drake (historical mystery)
The Martian and Artemis by Andy Weir (Sci-fi. Very good books!! HE writes amazing and accurate science!)
Drawin’s Radio (and sequel) by Greg Bear (Sci-Fi, sort of. Deals with human evolution.)
Quantico (and sequel) by Greg Bear (action mystery)
And all things by Neil Gaiman @neil-gaiman
I could continue on and on. Let me know if you need more recs or want to know more about any that I’ve mentioned

if i was Persephone i would have been so pumped to marry Hades. like that boi has got it all. loyalty respect money. i mean from all the depiction and drawing he looks pretty hot too. so i’m just saying i would have swan dived straight to the underworld. become queen, have a loving husband, a dog with three heads and have people fear me. seem like goals to me

Greek Gods as John Mulaney Quotes
Inspired by the glorious @incorrect-game-of-thrones !!!
Some may seem not as accurate (some were harder than others!) but I did my best! Also some may seem rude-ish, and I promise they’re not my opinions! I’m going off of how these gods are portrayed in most myths.
