Volume 8

February is on the way out...

Good afternoon!

Did you notice that February is almost over? I mean, I get that it’s a short month, but it went by too fast. Way too fast. Maybe that has something to do with the fact I released 2 books this month. The weeks tend to fly by when you’re releasing a new one every other week.

Honestly, I don’t know where the time goes. I wake up at 4 a.m. every morning, write for several hours, get in some clerical work, write some more. Sprinkle in a few loads of laundry, a couple of walks with the dogs, a few meals, a glass of wine, if I’m lucky, showers, reading time, TV time, an early bedtime, and I find myself doing it all over again.

I’m certainly not complaining. When the story flows, I find the days move too fast, but I don’t mind. Thankfully, I don’t have anything on the calendar this week. Not until a vet appointment for Moscato next weekend. She has to get her allergy shot. So between now and then, I’m going to keep my nose to the grindstone and write.

Now for a funny story…

I wasn’t going to admit this, but thinking back, I find it too amusing not to. I’ll start by telling you that I take CBD to help with my anxiety. I take it in the oil form, but I also have gummies. I recently ordered a higher dosage. Because it’s full spectrum, it contains small amounts of THC. It’s such a small dose it hardly registers, but evidently, the higher dosage has more. In my defense, I bought it so I could take half the dose since I’m not a fan of the taste of the gummies. Unfortunately, I forgot that when I took 2 gummies (a full dose). I didn’t think anything of it until about 2 hours later when I realized I felt strange. I was watching TV, and I felt like I was standing outside my own body. It was weird, and I didn’t like it at all. So when dinner was ready, I sat down to eat, and I’m talking to my husband, and I blurt, “I think I’m high.” I was. And acknowledging it didn’t make me like it any better, but at least it made sense. My husband found it highly amusing of course. He teased me relentlessly. Needless to say, I’m paying attention to the dosage now.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. I hope you have an incredible week! Happy reading!

Much Love!

Nicole

It's not time to get up yet, Mom. Stay in bed. Just a little longer. A couple of hours ... maybe more. Please. Mom, I'll just be over here pretending to take a nap while I watch you until you get finished. You ever notice they are always napping? Just sitting here waiting for dinner. Is it ready yet, Dad? February 28th – surprise end of month giveawayFriday, March 3, join us for the Primal Instincts Volume 3 Release Day party. Visit Nicole Nation on Facebook What I'm writing...

Primal Instincts is still going strong. Volume 6 will be finished by the end of the week, I’m sure of it. Did I mention there’s a twist in there? I didn’t see it coming, but it adds … something. I think you’ll enjoy it. And while there’s some good things happening, there’s a bit more suspense coming to the series as we see more of the man who’s out to punish Journey’s fathers and the Primal Alpha. If you haven’t checked out Volume 1 and 2, you should do so now. Volume 3 comes out this Friday (March 3), Volume 4 comes out on Friday, March 17, and Volume 5 on Friday, March 31. That’s 3 volumes in one month.

I have already watched this show all the way through. I binged it daily. Couldn’t stop watching. Now that I’ve got the gist, I’m going through it again. And just so you know, it’s just as good the second time around. Maybe better. I love Harvey Specter, flaws and all.

Hot Sheet, vol 7

February 20, 2023

Volume 7

Busy, busy, busy...

Good morning! Happy Monday!

In case you missed it, I released a book last Friday! Primal Instincts, Volume 2 is now available, and it’s on sale for $0.99 for a limited time. Plus, it’s in Kindle Unlimited, also for a limited time!

I think busy, busy, busy sums up this week rather well. I have a lot going on besides writing and promoting the most recent release. If you’ve been keeping up with the Primal Instincts releases, you know that the preorders for Volume 3, 4, and 5 are available on Amazon already (you can preorder them for $0.99 each – the sale price lasts for the week after each release). That means they are written, edited, and ready to go. Of course, a lot goes into getting the books finalized for release day, and that’s what I’m working on this week. Staying ahead of this is the only way for me to maintain my sanity. And since I’m writing every second I can, I have to force myself to stay on task.

I have also started back on my daily walk with Hennessy and Moscato, although they are very short at the moment. Before Hennessy’s injury, we walked for 30 minutes every morning. And that was after they went on a 30-minute walk with the hubs first thing. Unfortunately, that had to stop when he was injured and then after his surgery. Now that he’s 6 weeks post-op, we are starting to do 10 minutes once a day. Three months without walking, and you’d think they had never been on a walk before. However, they are enjoying it.

Wish me luck this week. It might not sound like a lot, but focusing is half the battle.

Have a great week!

Much Love!

Nicole

I finished Volume 5 yesterday. It had been mostly written already, but somewhere along the way, something changed. I won’t give you any spoilers, but I’ll tell you, you don’t want to miss it. Volume 6 is mostly finished, but it requires a rewrite to accommodate this new shift. Stay tuned.

Volume 6

A week of love (and another release!)...

Happy Valentine’s Week!

Okay, I have to admit, Valentine’s is not a holiday we celebrate. Not the way some people do. I have a difficult time thinking that any roses I might get cost triple what they normally do. Of course, the hubs does send them from time to time, but I’ve told him numerous times that the best time to send flowers is when I’m not expecting anything. Those are the moments when they mean the most. Back when the kids lived at home, we would have a spaghetti dinner (all of us) to celebrate. If I’m lucky, the hubs will make spaghetti even though it’s just the two of us.

Now that I’ve gotten the mushiness out of the way…

Last week was a good one for me. I got a lot done. I’ve been working on restructuring my workday so that I focus on all the important things, not merely writing. I have a bad habit of ignoring the other aspects of this business that need my attention, focusing only on the minimum. I made a resolution of sorts to find a way to divide my time more efficiently. I work close to 11 hours a day/seven days a week, so my next goal will be to reduce that time by a little. That’ll probably be more difficult than getting organized since I love what I do. I’m incredibly blessed, and I won’t take that for granted.

Don’t forget to grab your copy of Primal Instincts, Volume 2, on Friday. It’s on sale for $0.99 during preorder and also for one week after release, ending on February 23rd. All volumes are being released in Kindle Unlimited for a limited time but will be released on all other retailers in September.

With that said, I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day (or Galentine’s, if you’re going that route) and a fabulous week!

Much Love!

Yes, Mom, I'm cuddling with the giraffe. I won't blink first, Mom. I refuse. Heineken and Moscato waiting for me to get off the phone. In case you're wondering, this is where Heineken prefers to sleep when we're in the living room Hennessy prefers to nap close-by, usually at the bottom of one of our recliners, making it impossible to raise it. As for Moscato, she likes to contort herself into various positions when she sleeps. She's silly like that.

I finished writing Primal Instincts, volume 4, on Saturday, and I am mostly finished with volume 5. My goal is to be finished by Friday. I have to admit that I love spending my day with Journey, Creed, Hawk, and Garrison. I don’t know what to expect from any of them at this point, but they are remaining true to their goal. Of course, the obstacles they have to overcome continue to pop up, so it’s fun to watch them work their way through.

WIP: Primal Instincts76.1% What I'm reading...

As I mentioned before, I have been binge-reading CD Reiss for about two months. I am on book 3 of the DiLustro Arrangement Trilogy. This book/series is everything I expect from the phenomenal author who weaves such an intriguing world.

Hot Sheet, vol 5

February 6, 2023

Volume 5

It's been a while...

Good morning! Happy Monday!

It’s been a while, I know. A long while, in fact. I think the last Hot Sheet I did was a year ago. A lot has happened since then, so you’ll have to bear with me while I get you caught up. Starting in January 2022… Just kidding. I seriously doubt you want to hear about everything that’s happened in the past year. Between the stores not having Sprite Zero half the time and all the TV shows I’ve been binge-watching, it could get lengthy. How about I give you the CliffsNotes version instead?

Here are the highlights:

The hubby got a new job. My youngest kid had a major car accident. Totaled his grandfather’s Corvette when he went through a guardrail and down an embankment. He broke his back in numerous places. He’s better now. Good as new and back to work.We attempted a vacation at the beach at a “dog-friendly” place. It wasn’t dog-friendly at all. Hennessy and Moscato got sticker burrs in their paws and in their hair because they were everywhere. They weren’t happy. It started raining. Didn’t stop. We came home early. My husband’s company laid people off. The news that it was coming came during our aforementioned vacation – via text from his boss, telling all employees to stay home. (They could’ve handled it better, I think). Thankfully, he didn’t lose his job, but they are in the process of selling off his division. It’s been very stressful for him these past few months. The new company (which is one he worked for previously) takes over next week.Hennessy got signed up for dog training. He’s my psychiatric service dog, and I thought formal training would be beneficial. The trainer injured him with aggressive tactics. I canceled training. Got my money back. Put that money (and a lot more) toward the knee surgery he underwent 25 days ago. He’s recovering nicely despite the fact he’s not a very good patient. He refuses to sit still. And an ice storm last week. It took down most of our poor tree in the front yard. Although it might sound like it, I assure you, I don’t take any of those instances lightly. Relaying them after the fact is much easier than going through them. But they are in the past (thankfully), and we are moving forward, happy and healthy, which is what matters. While all of that was going on, between writing and taking care of the dogs, I’ve been having panic attacks. Sometimes while writing and/or taking care of the dogs. They are becoming more frequent. The worst part is when they sneak up on me for absolutely no reason. I’m dealing though.

As for this year … things are going well. I’m writing. A lot. I hope this means my creative streak is back. It’s been blinking like a bulb with a loose filament for the past couple of years. For however long it lasts, I’ll continue to be grateful. And I hope you’ll stay tuned for more. I promise not to keep you waiting for another year before you hear from me again.

Much Love!

Nicole

I’ve added some extras so you can see the past few months as they played out in pictures. 🙂 Enjoy.

Sorry, Taylor. You're not going home. Not if I have anything to say about it. Are we there yet? If not, that's cool. Just asking. Heineken and Moscato napping ... yes, that stuffed animal is theirs. What Hennessy thinks about being told he has to be still after his surgery. Somewhere in all those toys is a German shepherd taking a nap. Hey, Mom. You waatching? Huh? Oh, if only I could play outside. Yes, Mom. I know I'm cute. But I like when you tell me. Hennessy and Moscato at the beach (the only place that didn't have sticker burrs) Fine. I'll pose. But I'm not happy about it. Pajamas, Mom? First I have surgery and now this? (the pj's were actually to keep him from licking his incision but don't tell him that) Yes, I barked and got Heineken to leave his bed so I could steal it. It worked. Again. Heineken changing positions. I just can't decide which one is more comfortable. Give me a minute. *soft snoring* Book News Days Hours Minutes Seconds

I’m currently immersed in the Primal Instincts world. I can’t help myself. The more time I spend with Journey, Creed, Garrison, and Hawk, the more time I want to spend with them. It’s the first reverse harem I’ve written, and I find the dynamic between the four of them fascinating. Writing multiple relationships within one relationship isn’t easy, but it’s definitely fun. This book has taken over my entire world. It feels like I’ve been writing for years, but it’s only been months. The first 3 volumes of this series are complete. The rough drafts for the 4th and 5th are done. I’m finalizing those now. Volumes 6, 7, and 8 are more than halfway each because I had a shift in plot midway through writing. And volume 9, the last and final, is outlined. It’s all coming together.

WIP: Primal Instincts72.6% What I'm reading...

I have been binge-reading CD Reiss for quite a while now. At least two months. With each book I finish, I want more. I’m currently reading The DiLustro Arrangement Trilogy. I love the world she weaves and her writing is phenomenal. If you like darker romance with an edge to your kink, you should check out her books.

Check it out on What I'm watching... Psych

IMDb

I can’t believe I did not find this TV show sooner. I love every single thing about this show. Since I was a kid in the 80s, I can appreciate the flashbacks in each episode. It’s hilarious and mysterious, a combo I can’t resist.

October 28, 2022

Just an update…

I’ve been meaning to post an update for a while now, but things have been … well, let’s just say I’ve been a bit chaotic and not in a good way.

Let me start by saying that my son is doing well, and he’s going to be back to new in no time.

With that said, I received a phone call on October 6, 2022, at 11:08 a.m. from my son. Or rather, from my son’s phone. That call lasted 2 minutes and was the most harrowing call I’ve ever received. I answered the phone expecting my kid to offer to bring me lunch (something he does often), only the voice that responded did not belong to him. No, the man I spoke to was an EMT who was in the process of taking my son to the hospital.

I can honestly tell you I don’t remember much about that call, and unfortunately, that also means I do not remember that man’s name. I wish I did because he was the kindest person I’ve ever spoken with, and he was tasked with telling me that my son had been in an accident. He assured me very quickly and very kindly that my kid was up and moving when they arrived and that he was alert and talking. Basically, he said all the right things to calm me down, but it didn’t help. I’m sure he was wondering whether or not he needed to dispatch another ambulance to my house because I went into a full-blown panic attack, imagining the worst. He was kind enough to notify the emergency room personnel to be on alert for my arrival. I’m sure they were thinking I would need a bed for myself.

From that point on, the news continued to get worse even though I saw my son’s smiling face – he’s a brave kid, and he was more worried about the car than his own well-being. As for the accident, he was cut off when a car changed lanes without signaling. To avoid hitting an 18-wheeler (I don’t want to think about what would’ve happened if he had because we’ve all seen that shit in movies), he ended up going through a guardrail and down an embankment before the car caught on fire. He was able to get himself out, and onlookers were nearby to help.

The car is totaled, but my son is in one piece, and that’s all that I care about. My husband played down the severity of it at first to keep me from losing my mind. But he did tell me that our boy was extremely lucky.

After four days in the hospital, they released him to come home, where he’s been safely ensconced since that day. He will remain at home for several more weeks while he recovers from the few minor scrapes and bruises, as well as 8 compression fractures in his spine, starting at his T3 vertebrae and ending at T11. And while that sounds horrible (because it is), the doctors assure us that he will make a full recovery. He’s confined to a hard brace that covers his torso, but he’s able to move around some. Although he’s restricted from bending and moving as much as possible, he’s watching television and plays video games when he’s not sleeping.

What he doesn’t know is that when he’s ready to venture out into the world again, I’m going to securely wrap him in bubble wrap.

It’s been 3 weeks since that accident, and I am still mentally recovering. Anyone who has someone they love unconditionally understands exactly where I’m coming from. As for me, I’m tending to him as he needs me to, and I’m trying to focus on work, namely writing. It hasn’t been easy because I’ve slipped into a rather dark bout of depression. Not necessarily from the accident or dealing with it, but it happened all the same. I am finally clawing my way back to the light. So if I haven’t responded to your emails or you haven’t seen me on social media, you now know why.

I promise to be back in the very near future, but I wanted to let you know that I am here and that my son is doing well, as are my hubby and the three fur babies.

Much love,

Nicole

P.S. I have included a few images from the crash. Keep in mind when you see them that he is following all the doctor’s orders and will be going in for his checkup in a few weeks. And yes, he is very sad that the car is no more. As far as I’m concerned, the car has no value whatsoever, but my kid … well, he’s everything.

P.P.S. I added a pic of my hubs snoozing at the hospital. FYI – he will catch a nap anywhere he can.

10 years, y’all

10 years.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years today since I published my very first book: Conviction.

Just this week, I published #77: Forevermore, bringing me back full circle to Sam and Logan.

What makes it even sweeter, the readers are the ones who voted for more of them. Really, they did. I never imagined Sam and Logan would lead me here, of all places, to this point in my life when I’m living my dream day in and day out.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. It hasn’t always been easy. I mean, that’s 120 months of restless nights, tossing, turning, pacing the floor when a story is forming or not working the way I thought it would. During some of those 520 weeks, I even had to suffer through working with my husband as well as all three of my kids. Okay, I joke. That last part was one of the best parts. 🙂

Don’t forget the 77 very notable instances where I stressed over a book release but celebrated it all the same.

I’ve also had an excuse to talk to myself for ten years, too. I do that a lot, btw. Although, in my defense, I’m usually having an argument with a character. And yes, it’s as awkward as it sounds.

I’ve learned a lot in the past decade. About writing, about publishing, and most importantly, about trusting people. I’ve been naive in some of my decisions, and they’ve bitten me in the ass. If I have any advice for future authors, it’s to do your due diligence before jumping at an opportunity. Don’t take people at face value, especially not if they’re looking to make money off of you.

At the same time, don’t paint everyone with the same brush. There are some truly incredible people in this industry, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with many.

Do I have regrets? On a few things, definitely. I try not to dwell on them, choosing to look forward instead.

Even with a few regrets, I consider myself truly blessed. I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many people, all of them readers and book lovers, who’ve enriched my life in ways I never expected. I’ve made some incredible friends across the world, ones I never would’ve met if it weren’t for this journey. So thank you for that.

It’s been a decade filled with ups and downs, new experiences, and memories I’ll keep with me forever. I’m hoping for ten more years and ten years after that, and … well, you get the picture. I’m not sure it’s in the cards for me, but I will continue to put my whole heart into it for as long as you will allow me to.

Regardless of what the future brings, just know that I’m both humbled and grateful for all that I have. Beyond grateful, in fact.

Much love,

Nicole

Did you see? Forevermore is LIVE!

Forevermore, the final final book in the Club Destiny series is live! It’s been almost exactly 10 years since it all started for Sam and Logan. They’ve come a long way since then, and if you’ve read Conviction and Entrusted, you know their relationship expanded to include Elijah. In Forevermore, they’ve taken things to a whole new level.

If you’re a Club Destiny fan, you know that Samantha and Logan have a complicated relationship. That relationship took a polyamorous twist when Logan introduced Sam to Elijah in Entrusted. And most recently, they visited a cabin in Colorado (Naughty Holidays 2021) and things changed between the three of them once again.

Because readers voted for more of Sam, Logan, and Elijah, their story continues in the final final book in the Club Destiny series. Read more for a sneak peek of Forevermore

It was weird, Elijah decided.

No matter how hard he tried to keep his thoughts reined in, to not look at Logan and imagine kissing the man again, Elijah couldn’t help himself. Six months was a long time to dwell on that kiss, and he knew he wouldn’t last much longer. He needed to figure out if this was something they should pursue or if he needed to put it in the past and bury it forever.

However, to do that, Elijah needed a replay. He needed to experience that soul-searing kiss once more before he could come to a final decision.

The question was, did he make the first move or wait for Logan?

As he sat there, feeling the weight of Logan’s eyes on him, Elijah remembered what happened earlier when Logan had come up behind him in the kitchen. He’d thought for a second Logan was going to touch him, to be the one to make the first move. He could’ve sworn he felt the ghostly caress moving over his bare skin. He could still feel the warmth of Logan’s body behind him, smell the rich scent of his cologne. His reaction to his nearness had been instinctive. He had welcomed the feel of him looming over him, had held his breath in hopes of something more.

Although time had stood still for those precious few seconds, it never came.

Resigning himself to an unsatisfactory end to a relatively pleasant day, Elijah tipped his head back and closed his eyes again.

“Do you regret that night?” Elijah asked as he relaxed.

“No.”

There was no hesitance, no uncertainty. Good to know.

“Do you want me to regret it, Eli?”

Elijah didn’t lift his head, didn’t look up. “No. I’d like to know where I stand, that’s all. Do you think about it? That night? That kiss?”

Silence settled heavily over them for a moment, but just when he thought Logan wasn’t going to answer, he heard, “All the damn time.”

That eased some of Elijah’s anxiety over the situation. “Do you think about the kiss? Or about me rubbing your cock while you were fucking Sam?”

He honestly hadn’t meant to speak that aloud, so he wasn’t surprised when Logan didn’t respond. The man had already said he didn’t want to talk about it. Elijah should respect that.

Minutes ticked by while they sat silently, the leaves rustling, the waterfall cascading down from the elevated hot tub. On any given night, the silence would’ve lulled him into a semi-conscious state. Unfortunately, tonight, he was on edge, his body rigid, his cock pulsing as he mentally willed Logan to make the first move.

“Elijah.”

The dark rumble of Logan’s voice had Elijah’s eyes snapping open. He hadn’t heard the man move and wasn’t aware of his nearness until he realized he was staring up into Logan’s dark, brooding face as he loomed over him.

“Enough’s enough,” Logan said, his voice rich with seduction and promise.

Volume 4

Happy Hump Day!

It’s been a while, huh? I wish I could tell you I’ve been overwhelmingly busy in my writing cave, but that hasn’t been the case for a couple of weeks now. I was on a roll there for a little while. I was able to finish the books I was aiming to finish, but I have not yet started the next one. I spend most of my days in cahoots with my muses, begging one of them to raise their hand and give me a direction. Nothing yet, but I’ve got the antenna tuned in.

In the meantime, I’ve been preparing for the release of Confessions, the next for Brantley Walker and the gang. I won’t lie, I love them so much and I am hoping that series goes on forever. LOL We all know nothing is forever, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Big News

This is what our bed looks like when we are trying to get into it. Well, except Moscato is in Hennessy’s spot (that’s why he’s pouting)

Happy Anniversary, Steven

Can you believe it? This man has put up with me for 20 years. Yep. You read that right. 20. Sometimes I can’t believe how incredibly lucky he got! Oops, I mean me. I got lucky.

Okay, fine. We both did.

It makes for a great life when I’m married to a wonderful man who just so happens to be my best friend. He supports me no matter what I do. Through the ups and downs, highs and lows, successes and failure. Just yesterday he was stalking me to see how the sales of my new release were going. He’s proud of me and knowing that I feel like I can do anything.

Did I mention he took the day off today just to hang out? Plus he’s making me crab legs for dinner (my favorite) and he didn’t frown when I gave him a list of errands to run also.

What can I say? He loves me. (but probably not nearly as much as I love him)

Never mind the fact that he convinced me to marry him on 0420. I didn’t even know what day it was, I just said “I do” and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

So Happy Anniversary to us, and Happy Pot Day to everyone who’s celebrating with us.
