From the Book Bloggers...
I thought I'd accumlate some of the reviews the book bloggers and websites have been posting about UNTIL SHE COMES HOME, as well as a few interviews and guest blogs I have contributed. These folks obviously have a great love of books and a passion for what they do, and they're an important part what we writers are trying to accomplish. My thanks for the on-going support.
This is a work-in-progress and I'll be updating periodically. My apologies if I've missed anyone. I'll be checking and double-checking in the days ahead.
May 28th, 2013 Fresh Fiction - Guest Blog A Stranger Comes to Town
May 31th, 2013 CayoCosta72 - Review "As she did in Bent Road, Lori Roy creates a world so real, that readers will find themselves “living” in 1958 Detroit. A master at character development, Roy also creates an intricately woven plot line. Highly recommended."
May 31th, 2013 Jen's Book Thoughts - Five on Friday interview
June 11, 2013 Omnimystery News - A Conversation with Suspense Novelist Lori Roy
June 13, 2013 BookPage - Review "If language can be delicate and brutal at the same time, this is what Roy achieves in a beautifully written, dark exploration....The author’s stunning word pictures convey the air and mood almost of a fairy tale or fable—strange, laden with foreboding, dark around the edges where it may initially seem clear."
June 13th, 2013 McGuffy's Reader - Review "Lori Roy is a very talented and gifted author. Her characters are well developed and genuine. She draws you into her stories of suspense with urgency, and holds you there until the very end. Then she leaves you wanting more. She does that here, as she did in her first book, "Bent Road"."
June 14, 2013 BookReporter - Review "Roy brilliantly sets her stage for this novel in Michigan to demonstrate nationwide racial injustice..."
June 2013 BookBitch - Enter to win 9 signed thriller novels
June 19th, 2013 Jungle Red Writers - Guest Blog A Favorite Keepsake
June 24, 2013 Booking Mama - Review "I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I picked up a copy of UNTIL SHE COMES HOME by Lori Roy....I knew that Ms. Roy's debut novel BENT ROAD won an Edgar Award, so I did have some pretty high expectations. I am happy to say that UNTIL SHE COMES HOME did not disappoint. I actually ended up reading this entire novel in less than 24 hours."
June 24th, 2013 The Reading Cafe - Review "Lori Roy does a fantastic job in this suspenseful and tense tale of a neighborhood that seemed a perfect place to live, become a cesspool of lies and secrets. Roy slowly rips the masks of their lives, and shows us what is underneath in the face of tragedy."

A Typical Morning

So, I and the other customers at my favorite coffee shop began our morning being serenaded by the great Roy Peter Clark (author of Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer). I've written about this coffee shop before--Banyan Cafe and Catering. It's home to the best scone in St. Pete.

Saturday Night Widows...
I've been sitting in on some writing lectures this week. The topics are generally familiar, but it's always good to spend some time talking and thinking about the various elements of the craft.
One of the topics that was discussed during a lecture I attended yesterday was a goal each writer should have--daring to be brave. This might mean writing about a difficult or controversial subject, but more often it simply means daring to write with honesty.
Any writer knows this is not an easy task, and that's why I'm so proud to share news that my editor, Denise Roy, and five other amazing women have dared to write honestly and to share their experiences in a book that comes out today. My congratulations to all of them and best wishes...

BENT ROAD Optioned for film
I'm happy to share that Cross Creek Pictures has optioned the film rights for BENT ROAD, with Benderspink to produce and Mark Mallouk to adapt the screenplay. The champagne corks will be flying at the Roy household tonight - after 5 o'clock, of course.
Check out the link below for additional information.

UNTIL SHE COMES HOME
Many, many months ago, I wrote about my hope that a person could judge a book by its cover. I was, at that time, unveiling the cover for BENT ROAD. Today, I'm happy to say that I continue to have this same hope. Once again, the folks at DUTTON have created a most perfect cover for my work. Even having written the book, the cover scares me a bit...which is precisely the point. (Coming June, 2013)
