Web Survey: Are UK Family Historians Using the Right Resources

http://edu.surveygizmo.com/s3/973257/Online-Genealogy

For my Master’s thesis, I am researching family history websites. This survey makes up a crucial part of the study and consists of simple questions about what websites you use and your experience with them.

The results of the survey will be combined with a comparison of the major sites features – and search results – in an attempt to define trends and determine what motivates family historians to select the online resources they use.

Icebreaker Supporting Indie Publishing

I am proud to announce that the wonderful team at Icebreaker in Switzerland have been very generous in providing sponsorship which helps enable me to attend the Frankfurt Buchmesse in style and comfort. They have provided me with enough of their high quality Merino wool clothing to keep me warm (or cool) regardless of the conditions at the fair.

I think it’s fitting that a New Zealand born author, attending a book fair where New Zealand is guest of honour, will be donned out in the best of New...

Selected for Frankfurt Book Fair

I am very proud to announce that my debut novel The Spanish Helmet has been selected by the NZ Society of Authors to be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2012 where New Zealand is guest of honour. The society has selected just 40 books (dubbed the Frankfurt Forty) for this honour from fiction and non-fiction New Zealand works. It is a great pleasure to have my work selected from among the other great work coming out on New Zealand.

For my part, I will naturally be in attendence at Frankfurt...

A Few Indie Book Reviewers

I spent some time a few months ago, creating a list of Indie book reviewers. I used various sources (I can't remember where from) to compile this list, but gave up before completing it when I realised I wouldn't bother using it myself.

I posted the URLs on Goodreads yesterday and realised that there is quite a demand for such information. So here is the list – for you all.

Sorry that is isn't complete. Some of the information about genres accepted may be incorrect. Likewise, some of these...

Self-Publishing Translation Experiment on IndieGoGo

Please… help me to translate The Spanish Helmet into German. From as little as a $5 donation, you get a copy of the book. Or, be the hero (or villain) in my next novel by donating $1500.

OK, $5 would be a great start. I will be grateful forever. And my pregnant translator (not my wife) will be able to stock up on chocolate-covered gherkins.
