Limitless Thinking: Forget the Glass!
I come from a long line of negative thinkers. My grandmother lived with depression and dealt with fear on a daily basis. My mother was overly critical and cynical about most situations. And while I don’t consider myself to be in their league, I’ve definitely been a glass-half-empty person most of my life. The longer I walk with the Lord, however, the more that negativity falls by
the wayside.
The problem with my negative thinking was that it kept me from dreaming big. It was hard to be hopeful and believe for the best possible outcome. Instead, I usually found myself thinking about the worst-case scenarios. I didn’t understand that when we think small or think the worst about life and the future, it limits what God can accomplish in and through us.
One day I was having a pity party of sorts, wondering why I wasn’t seeing breakthrough in a certain area that I had been praying about for a very long time. God interrupted my “party” to remind me of Caleb and the spies during their recon mission of the Promised Land. I opened my Bible and read the story from Numbers 13. God spoke to my heart through verses thirty to thirty-one, and I immediately realized that it was, in fact, my thinking that had kept me from my own promised land of blessing.
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. [31] But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Numbers 13:30-31
Caleb and the spies witnessed the exact same scenario. But the spies saw the land as having insurmountable obstacles, while Caleb envisioned it as being completely conquerable.
In Andrew’s Don’t Limit God teaching, he shares how, on January 31, 2002, the Lord spoke to him from Psalm 78. In the following passage, God showed Andrew that he, too, had been limiting Him with small thinking.
How oft did they [the Israelites] provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Psalm 78:40-41, brackets and emphasis added
Wow! We can—and often do—limit God’s power in our lives by how we think! God wanted to exponentially expand the Gospel Truth television program onto numerous stations worldwide. At that time, however, Andrew’s thinking was too small to catch God’s vision. But once Andrew understood how he was limiting the Lord from fulfilling His will, he began to change and expand his own thinking. Within only a couple of weeks, resources flooded in that made the television expansion possible.
There are many ways we can limit the Lord with our thinking, including not dreaming big enough, having an inferior image of ourselves, or expecting the worst. These all describe my problem—negative thinking. In Don’t Limit God, Andrew explains that we must “quit thinking small and limiting God and imposing [our] inadequacies and . . . failures upon God and recognize [that] He’s limitless.”
The way to do this, as Andrew discusses in his teaching, is to change our inner image. We must first see in our hearts what we want to see happen in our circumstances. This comes as we align our thoughts with God’s Word and allow Scripture to challenge us to think bigger. And because we have the mind of Christ, we can think as big as God thinks.
I challenge you today to start changing your thinking and take the limits off God. When you do, your glass won’t be half-empty or half-full; it will be overflowing. So, you might as well forget the glass!

The Best at Being Me
When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
2 Corinthians 10:12, New International Version
For most of my life I’ve had a competitive streak. From report cards to card games, I wanted to outdo everyone at everything. Somehow the idea of not excelling and being the best was a threat to my security and well-being. In my mind, coming in second place was the same as being first loser.
During my second-year Charis Bible College missions trip, I came face to face with my insecurity. Sitting in the rear of the bus one day as our team traveled back from an outreach, I mulled over the events of the trip thus far. I had been able to give a testimony during one outreach, but I hadn’t been chosen to do anything “important.” I was feeling invisible and unnecessary, and I didn’t like my “background” role.
At the same time, I knew my attitude was wrong. After all, every member of Christ’s body is essential and equally valued, and it was the same for every member of our team, including me.
Thankful that no one could read my thoughts, I prayed and asked God
for help.
That same night, the Lord woke me up with a scripture, taken from the
Mirror Bible:
“Quit your efforts to try and impress one another. The law of works reduces your life to envious comparison and petty competition, while love only always seeks the advantage of the other!”
Galatians 5:26
Hardly noticing the reproof in the Lord’s words, I was so grateful for His directive—and for the answer to my longtime dilemma.
In one short verse, God revealed that my competitive streak was the result of comparing myself with others. Insecure about my unique value to God, I felt like I needed to compete with everyone to validate my importance. I was never able to settle down and be comfortable with the person God made me to be. And more importantly, my insecurity kept me self-absorbed rather than others-focused.
In his Don’t Limit God book, Andrew says that being ignorant of our value as God’s children limits God and His ability to work through us:
“God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He wants to do absolutely miraculous things in everyone’s life. God has never made a piece of junk. He has never made an inferior person. We all have something that God wants to accomplish through us, but most of us are ignorant of this and have bought into the lie that there’s nothing special about us. But the truth is that we are all unique and can do something that nobody else can.”
With thankfulness and a new perspective, I finished out my missions trip, grateful for the opportunity to do whatever I was asked.
Since then, I continue to renew my mind about my worth in God’s eyes. And I’m coming to realize that although I may not be the best at everything, I’m the best at being me. And I can live with that.

User Manual Included
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. One of my coworkers told me, “I just wish there was a manual given at birth that told me how to do life. It would’ve made things so much easier for me!” I was stunned, but she just laughed off this far-fetched idea.
She wasn’t a believer, and she had gone through serious turmoil that left her filled with anger and put her on an endless search for answers. And here I was, screaming on the inside, There is! I have the answer!
That day I realized the hard truth: there are people in this world who desperately need what God has already given us through His Word, but they have no idea how applicable or relevant the Bible is to their lives. Particularly the book of Proverbs. It is so transparent. It literally is our manual for life.
This week, Andrew continues his teaching on this book of wisdom on the Gospel Truth broadcast. In this teaching, Andrew shows us how we can choose to accept God’s help in life. We need God’s wisdom and His inspiration. And that’s what Proverbs is all about.
I’ve experienced this guidebook firsthand when Proverbs literally saved my life. I was only twenty when I got engaged to a guy who was not right for me. The months of dating before that were filled with so many doubts and so many smart people warning me to jump ship. Sometimes I listened, and we would break up; then later, I’d ignore their advice, and we’d get
back together.
Dumb.
I knew of others who ignored the naysayers and succeeded in the plan of God for their lives. So, I thought that would be my story too. But Proverbs 11:14 says, “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers” (New International Version). Truthfully, it can feel really cool to go against the grain and prove people wrong. But for me, this verse meant escaping a terrible decision. With godly people speaking to my heart and confirming what I already knew deep down, I couldn’t ignore what God was saying to me anymore. I broke the engagement off. This time it was for good.
Andrew shares how if you’re undergoing struggles in your life right now, “it’s because you haven’t been following God’s direction. . . . And because of that, we go out and make mistakes that we don’t have to make, that the Word of God teaches us how to do things differently.”
Proverbs expounds on life’s biggest questions for both the little things and big things. And even if you “miss it,” God has a way of bringing wisdom back around to you, sometimes through another person. For me, it was through my amazing sister who spoke up and voiced my fear that my former fiancé was not the best choice for me.
Along with stressing the importance of having many counselors, Proverbs 11 also shows that it’s a gift when you have a faithful friend. Andrew explains that “you can’t faithful spirit.”
That’s how gracious and faithful God is to us. He gives us people who wake us up to His call on our lives and point us to His Word. I’m thankful for those people and my brave sister, who were my wake-up call to finally walk away from something that wasn’t God’s best.
We do have a manual for life. It’s the Word of God! Keep watching the Gospel Truth this month to gain more timeless wisdom for a life of purpose. It just might save your life too.

A Life Surrendered to God
Andrew Wommack is living proof that nothing is impossible for a person whose life is surrendered to the Lord.
Although Andrew’s face can be seen on media outlets throughout the world, Andrew Wommack remains a simple man with a simple Gospel message. And while Andrew Wommack Ministries has grown into a worldwide ministry and has changed countless lives, that growth hasn’t happened overnight.
As we celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Andrew’s encounter with the Lord on March 23, 1968, we also commemorate fifty years of miracles and lessons, leaps of faith and mistakes, growing pains, and supernatural provision. What God has brought Andrew through, we can easily learn from to discover our own true identities in Christ and to walk in the blessing of God.
You don’t reach fifty years of ministry without being committed. It takes endurance and a foundation on something stronger than the opposition of the world. Andrew’s foundation is his reliance on the Author and Perfecter of his faith (Heb. 12:2). He challenges us to put our trust not in his latest teaching series, but in the hands of the only One who will never fail us.
Andrew has been a constant in my life, teaching me that no matter my circumstances, no matter how I feel, and no matter what season of life I am in, God’s Word is still true. I don’t have to be tossed around by any of these things. I can stand firm in my faith and on the unshakable truth of His Word.
Throughout the uncertainties of this life, Andrew has been a steady reminder of God’s unconditional love and grace for me. He always points me back to God and the simplicity of His truth and promises for my life. Even when I get distracted in my walk with God or get caught up in the latest spiritual craze to hit the church world, I once again find my identity, my hope, and my future, not in Andrew, but in the One he points me to.
Although Andrew’s ministry has changed a lot over the years, the one thing that remains constant is his message of God’s love. Why? Because he discovered long ago that it’s God’s love that saves the lost, heals the sick, and prospers our souls; it’s the crux of everything this ministry is. And love never fails (1 Cor. 13:8)!
As we celebrate this fiftieth anniversary, we are honoring fifty years of God using one simple man to share this simple truth with the world: the Father loves them.
Don’t miss this week of special Gospel Truth broadcasts, March 19-23, as we share the story of Andrew’s journey through fifty years of ministry. Each story—old and new—will show you what God can do through one person whose heart is committed to Him (2 Chr. 16:9). We know you’ll be inspired!

Passport to Your Future
As a five-year-old girl, I knew exactly what I wanted: to live in Africa—as a missionary. Not really knowing what to do about that desire, I just went to school, did what my parents told me to do, and grew up.
In my first year of college, however, I had an epiphany. The university path was not for me. I wanted to fill up my passport! Hungry for direction, I began listening to Andrew Wommack’s message Hope and Imagination and those on finding, following, and fulfilling God’s will. I became so obsessed with the Word that it was all I wanted. So, I set my sights on Charis Bible College.
I signed up for my first Charis online course. For years, I had heard about Charis Missions School, and I was so excited to finally start this journey that would take me there and then to Africa. I thought I was just choosing my first class at random, but God placed me in the perfect first course: A Sure Foundation, taught by Andrew Wommack.
I knew Charis was what I needed when, in the first lesson, I heard Andrew say, “You don’t produce fruit; the Word does.” This is why I chose Charis. The Word of God is what produces life in me. My personality and even my passion for people cannot create or further my vision. If I want to see supernatural results, I have to have the Word of God as my root system.
This will take time and preparation before I can run off into the jungle. But when I get frustrated by the process, I go back to that first class where Andrew says, “We give the Word a place to dwell.” It’s that simple. Life isn’t about me anymore.
Rather than skip ahead and try to plan out my future, my responsibility is to let the Word of God grow in me and change me. I realized that, for believers, that’s where our stability comes from. It’s directly correlated to how much Word is in our hearts. When we understand that, then God can change people and nations through us, effortlessly.
This one class set such a solid foundation for my whole Charis experience. Through it, I saw that no education will give you life like the Word of God.
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63, New King James Version
When my perspective shifted toward the Word, I started believing that good things are always coming. I had surprising amounts of patience built in me and became assured that God will still complete my vision even when it seems far off. That’s why this class is perfect to start out your Charis Experience. It provides exactly what the title says it does: a sure foundation for your entire life.
Still not sure if Charis is the right choice for you? Here’s some great news! You can now sign up for the online class A Sure Foundation for free. We want you to experience being taught in a Word-enriched environment with no strings attached.
For a limited time, go to www.awmi.net/sure and get started on your complimentary class today. And if you love it (which I know you will!), then enroll for the fall semester at Charis Woodland Park or at a campus near you! You can always continue through online or correspondence courses too, and get the same life-giving teaching. Get in the Word. It’s the passport to
your future!

Keep the Fire Burning
As I was thinking about Andrew’s teaching Grace: The Power of the Gospel, I remembered an old legend that I had heard years ago. It goes like this:
There once was a man who invented fire. One day, he found a village in a very cold and remote area. With his tools, he taught the villagers how to make fire. The people were fascinated with this discovery. Now they could use the fire to cook hot meals and heat their homes. They were thankful for the new skill the man taught them. But one day, without much notice, the man left. In his absence, the people made a portrait of him and mounted it in the temple. The instruments he left behind for making fire were placed in front of his portrait, and the people were taught to revere the image of the man and the instruments of fire. As time went on, the worship continued, but the people never made any more fire.
The man in the story had left each person in the village with something better than himself: the ability to make fire. Each person could have used this gift to their advantage, learned new ways to use it, and passed the art of making fire to future generations. But the people forgot the gift they had received and instead fixed their eyes on something that was passing away. They lost sight of the gift and the freedom they had received.
This story gives us a great picture of the Law. Like the people in the story, we tend to forget the purpose of the Law, and without noticing, we start worshiping the image of our salvation instead of the Savior. Andrew explains, “The [L]aw and the prophets testify to the coming of the Righteous One—the Lord Jesus Christ—and righteousness given as a free gift through faith in His name. The [L]aw was only a temporary thing that projected and prophesied the coming of the Eternal One” (p. 28).
The Law was given to bring us out of the deception that we could ever save ourselves. It wasn’t given for us to keep it. It was given to help us accept the fact that we need a Savior. It was pointing to something much better—the Lord Jesus (Rom. 3:21-22).
Just like the villagers, we can get stuck in our traditions, and that can cause us to make the great gift we have received—even the gift of grace—lose its power in our lives. Like Andrew says, “Letting go of our own performance and coming to God by faith can be pretty scary. Accepting salvation as a free
gift—apart from any goodness on our own—is contrary to everything we’ve known. . . . It takes a genuine confidence in the Gospel so that we truly let go of our goodness and performance” (p. 44).
When we understand we are justified by grace through faith, without the deeds of the law (Rom. 3:28), we find true freedom and God’s real blessings can start manifesting in our lives. We must cling to the eternal gift of grace and let go of the temporary shadow of the Law. It’s the only way to keep the fire burning.
Have you found yourself putting your trust in an image instead of the Savior? Ask yourself, “Is there any area in my heart where my faith is in my own performance and I’ve lost sight of the Eternal One? Your Heavenly Father is calling you back. Return to grace and enjoy the freedom of your salvation.
Freedom from a performance mentality is one of the many truths Andrew’s teaching on grace covers. If you haven’t ordered it yet, considering getting the Romans Collection Package. It contains Grace: The Power of the Gospel in a paperback book, study guide, and CD or DVD series. The package also includes Andrew’s Life for Today Study Bible and Commentary: Romans Edition. You will overflow with the knowledge of God’s grace, which will change your life!

New Bible for a New Chapter
My poor Bible has seen better days. It’s been read, highlighted, written in, taped, and re-taped. The cover is missing. Pages are ripped. Whole sections have fallen out of it. But I can’t make myself throw it away! I’m not generally a sentimental person. I don’t attach memories to things. In fact, I happen to own several Bibles in a variety of translations. But this particular Bible
is special.
My mom gave me this Bible on my sixteenth birthday. It wasn’t my first Bible, but it was the first Bible I had asked for. I grew up in a Christian home, but I was no longer satisfied with knowing God just through my parents. I was convinced that getting a “real” Bible, one that I could study for myself, was the first step. I was done with Bibles with cute covers and illustrations.
Writing in my Bible for the first time felt both sacrilegious and liberating. I highlighted and underlined and made notes and drew arrows through the whole thing! Today, when I look at its pages and reread the notes I wrote in the margins, it’s like each one is a flashback. I remember where I was when I wrote each note. I remember what I was feeling. I remember my insides screaming out for God to speak to me, not realizing that every note, every highlight was His voice.
Then one day I read:
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. . . . And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:2, 10, New International Version
I remember that day. I remember reading this chapter and thinking, for the first time in my life, I am free from sin! It was such an exciting revelation, I noted it in the corner of my Bible. You see, I wanted to know God, but all my life, sin had been presented as the enemy. Sin was separating me from God. It was keeping me from experiencing His blessings.
As a child, I didn’t feel like sin was that big of a deal, but for years, I watched the same people approach the altars every week to repent of and mourn their sin. I didn’t understand why people, who spoke in tongues and saw angels and heard the voice of God, had to be born again, again and again. However, just to be safe, I decided to add “and forgive me of any other sins I may have committed but can’t remember” to my bedtime prayers!
When I realized I didn’t have to spend my entire Christian life struggling with sin, it changed everything. Like Andrew says, “Separation from the sin nature is an accomplished thing whether you understand it or believe it or not. When you got born again, you became separated from this old sinful nature that drove you to sin. . . . But whether you reap the benefits of that is completely dependent on whether or not you know these truths.” He goes on to say, “So, really, walking in victory is as simple as recognizing your new identity, that you are now freed from that sin nature. It has no more dominion over you.”
That revelation (and that sixteenth birthday gift) changed my life. It started me on the path to eternal life—to knowing God (John 17:3)—and has given me the tools I needed to start my own children on that path.
If you want to learn more about these truths that have changed my life, check out Andrew’s teaching Grace, the Power of the Gospel, which is airing all this month on the Gospel Truth.

Andrew's Response to the Florida School Shooting
Again, we are mourning the loss of innocent lives as the result of a violent school shooting. I join with you in praying for all those injured and those who have lost sons and daughters. I pray that the Lord would comfort and draw them to Himself for the strength only He can give. He is our only hope.
I’ve heard total despair from a number of people today as to how we solve this problem. They feel that this is the new norm that we just have to get used to. I don’t believe this is so. I didn’t grow up with this as the norm, and the young people of today don’t have to either.
Although there isn’t a quick fix and many things need to be done, I believe the root of the problem is simple. There is evil in this world that our nation has systematically been releasing by our departure from morality and the fear of God. Disrespect for God, authority, and life in general is being promoted in multiple ways, and this is the consequence.
Psalm 36:1 says, “The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.”
The lack of fear or reverence for God has removed the restraints on the devil, and this is the result. The answer to this isn’t easy, but it’s simple: we need to return to God as a nation. That’s where we believers come in. We must speak out and let our light and salt be the preserving influence God ordained.
As we pray for those affected, let’s also renew our commitment to sharing the good news of the Gospel, which is the only thing that will change the hearts of people and stop this carnage. Most will look for things in the natural that need to be done, and while we don’t deny the natural, the only cure for this is spiritual, not physical.
Father, use us to counter this evil in our culture. Give us boldness to speak out and get involved. Give us Your wisdom about how to address this, and we pray Your comfort and strength to everyone affected. In Jesus’s name, amen!

Established
Early in my walk with God, I heard the same kind of teaching that many brand-new Christians receive: We’re poor sinners who will struggle with our sinful nature for the rest of our lives. We’ll make it to heaven, but just barely. This erroneous teaching left me without strength and without much hope. Believing the words to the song “Victory in Jesus”? Forget it.
The only hope I had was that one day—in the sweet by and by—I would die and be free. What a horrible way to live!
Thank God for the revelation of my righteousness as a Christian. It has completely changed my life. When somebody recommended Andrew’s teaching Grace: The Power of the Gospel, I was instantly hooked. I learned the truth about my new nature as a born-again believer, that I had received the gift of righteousness through Christ’s finished work (Rom. 5:17), and my faith and confidence grew to incredible heights. Getting ahold of this teaching didn’t just change my life—it saved it!
Isaiah prophesied that God’s free gift of righteousness would bring awesome benefits into the believer’s life:
All your sons will be taught of the Lord; And the well-being of your sons will be great. In righteousness you will be established; You will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; And from terror, for it will not come
near you.
Isaiah 54:13-14, New American Standard Bible
There are big truths in this small passage! Notice that when people are taught of the Lord (i.e. the Word of God is rightly divided for them), the benefit is great well-being. How is your well-being? Is it great? Well, it can be. And it should be!
When you are taught of the Lord, He assures that you are established in righteousness. This is a focus that God has chosen. He wants you to be firmly established in your walk with Him, but in order for that to happen, you must know that you are righteous.
At the time you accepted Jesus, God made you 100 percent righteous and 100 percent holy. He made you that way so His Holy Spirit could live in you and you could have a new nature. This new nature that God has given you is as righteous as Jesus is. You are 100 percent right with God!
As for this righteousness, He gave it to you as a gift. You didn’t earn it. This righteousness isn’t based on what you’ve done; it’s completely based on what Jesus has done. Now, why would He do this? Simply because He loves you. He wants to be as close to you as He can possibly be; He wants a relationship with you. Righteousness makes this closeness yours. Isn’t that awesome?
Another benefit of being established in righteousness is that you will no longer be oppressed or fearful. Do you struggle with oppression or fear? Knowing that you have right-standing with God brings tremendous faith and freedom. After all, Jesus said you would know the truth, and it would make you free (John 8:32). The truth does make you free. This is real, folks.
In order to be firmly established in righteousness, you must be properly taught the Word of God on this subject. It also must be heard often so that it sinks deep into your heart and soul. Andrew will be teaching on this subject all week on the Gospel Truth. When you hear Andrew’s amazing teaching Grace: The Power of the Gospel, you will begin to fully experience the benefits of actually being established in righteousness!

No Climbing Necessary
“We all go through those seasons.”
“The Christian life isn’t supposed to be easy.”
We hear this all the time from well-meaning people. But have you ever thought that God actually wants you to win in every season of life? To have good days? Do you know what it would take to see victory on the daily?
First John 5:4 says,“This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (New International Version).
To live above the trials in this life, all we need is faith. Real faith. Maybe you’ve tried to climb out of a crisis by mustering up all the faith you can feel at the moment. But you were left worn-out and worried that you’ll have to stay hyped up, prepared for the next problem. This isn’t the overcoming faith that this scripture is talking about!
Andrew said it best in his teaching “How to Overcome Doubt”: “But overcoming doubt isn’t just about feeling better; it’s about getting back into faith that only comes from the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).” The true faith that leads us to every success in life is grounded in the Word of God. It’s in what Jesus won for us: peace, limitless faith, victory! And it’s for every single moment of our lives.
Then how do we start to live life in this kind of faith? How can we stop looking to ourselves to make victory happen?
The secret is hearing.
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
Romans 10:17, English Standard Version
This is the simplicity of our awesome God. When we hear the anointed Word taught, faith begins to build in our hearts effortlessly. And when we keep hearing and hearing—over and over again—our faith flourishes and consumes our thoughts of doubt and defeat. We can then find ourselves filled with faith and on the other side of our mountain, without even doing the
climbing ourselves.
In the same teaching about overcoming doubt, Andrew explains, “You must come to a place to where God’s Word is more real to you than anything you can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel. . . . Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.”
This is what it means to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12). Fight to stay under the washing of the Word. When the news, the radio, or doubtful people are crowding your airwaves, drown yourself in the teaching of God’s goodness. The hearing of Jesus-centered preaching will pull you out of your situation. Before you know it, failure will not even be an option. You will be walking in ridiculous amounts of favor, and people will wonder why you are always winning!
It is now easier than ever to immerse yourself in the Word and see faith become your victory (1 John 5:4). Now available 24/7, GospelTruth.tv is a convenient way to hear your way out of hardships. Not only does this new network include regularly scheduled teachings by Andrew Wommack, but also his friends who have powerful revelations of God’s goodness; they will help you see victory as your reality.
Listen to faith-filled teachers, such as Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Creflo Dollar, and Keith Moore, or tune in to Charis worship services and let praise and victory fill your home, office, or car! If you’re waiting at the airport or sweating it out in the gym, imagine how easy it will be to overflow with faith, just by listening (and watching, of course).
