It was the Bathtub that Broke Me
My husband is an interesting guy. An architect by day, a daredevil by weekend, he gives me a lot to write about. Even though he's a six foot five stubborn Italian, he has an artsy side that intrigues me. Usually.
Well, we have a big shop behind our house where he has his toys. That's cool. And he somehow became inspired to kind of decorate around it with some pretty neat stuff he found. So when the old gas pump showed up by the door, I thought, wow, that's cool. Then when the odd mining or cement testing or whatever the thing is showed up on the other side of the shop, I was pleased.
Then the signs showed up. A wagon wheel, a number 9 with really no significance. Okay. I can live with those. Though, we do have new neighbors moving in on the other side of the shop and now I'm wondering what they think. So far, they probably think we're artsy. That's ok.
Then the big windmill thingy was placed between my rose bushes. At this point, I'm starting to wonder. Keep in mind that we live in a nice, normal neighborhood. No junkyard dogs, no rotted out car parts lining the drive. You know, nice. All of a sudden, the sound of that song from Deliverance started going through my head.
Then this thing that looks like a massive temperature guage appears between my two favorite rosebushes. I think this thing actually had something to do with measuring the temperature of concrete, but I sure wouldn't bet my life on it. I begin to get uneasy at this point.
Then…the bathtub appears. Oh heck no. (I try not to swear on my blog, but you can guess what I really said. And for the record, it didn't start with an 'h.') Also, for those of you creative gardening types, I know there was a trend of putting flowers in a bathtub in your yard a few years back. I am not a trendy gardening type. I do not want a freakin bathtub in my yard by my roses. I do not.
This is the year of the bathtub debate…and I will not lose. That thing is leaving.

Welcome to the 2011 Eight-Author Blog Hop with Prizes!
We're having some fun during this crazy holiday time talking music, movies, and more. Best of all, we're giving away over $80.00 worth of prizes!
Two days. Tuesday December 13 and Wednesday December 14, 2011. Four blogs each day. All you have to do is show up and comment on each blog to be entered for the grand prize drawing of eight e-books and a $40 Amazon Gift Card! Just in time for the holiday season!
SO, I thought it would be fun to list ten cool quotes from Christmas movies. Go ahead and see how many you know — I'll post the answers later this week. At the end of the list there will be links to the other blogs involved on this hop, as well as a way for you to get more chances to win in the hop as well as a chance to win a SIGNED copy of either FATED or CLAIMED…your choice.
10 COOL MOVIE QUOTES:
1) "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"
2) "You are not exactly Superman, but you are awfully available."
3) "I believe… I believe… Even though it's silly, I believe. "
4) "Aunt Clara had for years labored under the delusion that I was not only perpetually 4 years old, but also a girl."
5) "Great. I just beat up Santa Claus."
6) "Even if we're horribly mangled, there'll be no sad faces at Christmas."
7) "Sometimes seeing is believing. And sometimes the most real things in the world are those things we cannot see."
"Surprised, Eddie? If I woke up tomorrow morning with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am right now."
9) "You're the only person I know who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem. Maybe Lucy's right. Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest. "
10) "Christmas snow can never disappear completely. It sometimes goes away for almost a year at a time and takes the form of spring and summer rain. But you can bet your boots that when a good, jolly December wind kisses it, it will turn into Christmas snow all over again."
SO, here are the blog hoppers:
Day One December 13th: Lynn Rush, Kendall Grey, Caridad Piñeiro, & Rebecca Zanetti
Day Two December 14th: Rachel Firasek, Ciara Knight, Lisa Kessler, & Jean Murray
Leave a comment on EACH blog during the next two days, and you'll be entered (25 times) in the drawing for the e-books and Amazon gift card. In addition, either click on and "like" my facebook page, or follow me on twitter for 10 more chances to win. (The links are up and over to the right). Finally…guess where a couple of the movie quotes come from, and I'll enter you in the drawing to win a print copy of one of my books.

Jingle Bell Hop – What do Sexy Spaniards and Stolen Paintings have in common?
Welcome to the Jingle Bell Hop! If you've fallen off the bus, just click on the logo to the left and it'll take you right back on.
Happy Holidays, everyone! Read to the end for a chance to win more books! So here's a fun scene for you:

Andreas Gradin/Shutterstock.com
Slowly, with the casualness of a lover, he stroked her head. His dark gaze stayed on the target. "Yes."
Her pretty new sundress hid the gun at his waist as well as the knife strapped to her thigh. "Let's hit them."
"No." His hold tightened. "If we do this, everything changes."
For the love of pete. Woman's intuition whispered in her ear that everything had already changed. The second she'd placed her hand in his when he'd met her at the airport yesterday. "They stole the painting, Diego. I didn't fly half way across the world to walk away."
"I told you what would happen if you returned to Spain." His voice lowered to a huskiness that had her thighs clenching together.
She barely bit back a wince as the knife scratched her skin. Five years ago, she'd left him. And he'd let her. "Now isn't the time to discuss it."
His long, talented fingers threaded through her hair. He jerked her head back, stepping into her, dark eyes flashing. "Now is exactly the time to discuss it." His gaze dropped to her lips, making them tingle. "You didn't like my job. You left. My job is different now and…you're back."
"You were a thief," she hissed. As much as she'd loved him and understood his dismal background, she couldn't live on the wrong side of the law.
"Yes." Heat cascaded off his strong body. "And yet, the second you needed help, you called an ex-thief."
Well, yeah. Who else could catch the guys who'd stolen her painting? Her heart fluttered. "Ex-thief?"
He leaned in, his face above hers, only an inch separating them. "I promised you I'd change. I own half of Beneto Galleries now. I bought in."
She gasped. Figured the ex-art thief would one day own a legitimate gallery. "That's fantastic."
His smile appeared more deadly than charming. A shiver wandered down her spine. No fear, but definitely intrigue. "Thank you. In fact, I've stolen one painting only since the day you left."
Well, why in the world— She gasped, pushing against him. He didn't move. How could he? "One painting?" She turned her head, taking a good look at the 'target.' "Philippe?"
The older man turned, whipping a huge hat off his head and patting the box next to him. "Ah, Senorita. So good to see you again. Thank you for allowing us to show your fine painting in the gallery." With a twinkle in his eye, he grabbed the box and sauntered away from the area of benches.
Fire flashed through her. "You son of a—"
Diego's mouth stopped her words. Hot, sexy, so damn devastating, he kissed the anger right out of her. Finally, she nearly sagged against him.
Framing her face, he flashed twin dimples. "I've missed you. The only way to get you here was…well."
Her mind spinning, joy ripping through her, she could only shake her head. Damn, she loved the man. Always had. "You stole my painting."
"You stole my heart."
So, thanks for hopping the blogs this weekend! In addition to the overall prizes, I'm giving away a signed copy of either FATED or CLAIMED (winner's choice) to one commenter on my blog this weekend. (Sometimes comments take a while to show up–don't worry, yours will). Comment about anything, but if you need a prompt: So, what are you holiday plans? Ever been to Spain? Do you like any particular art?

Five Presents for a Vampire Mate
Happy December! Yes, I write dark paranormals about vampires, shifters, and witches. But hey, just because they live in a dark and sexy world doesn't mean they can't enjoy the holiday season. The heroine of Claimed, Emma Paulsen, is a geneticist who finds herself mated to the king of the vampires. Although she's rather busy, the woman loves Christmas. Here are the top five presents for Emma Paulsen:
1) A bat. Yeah, a Louisville slugger. The king is domineering and stubborn…his mate might need to clock him one once in a while.
2) A fan. The king is also sexier than heck. Dage can heat up a room.
3) Yoga for a Vampire Mate. The woman could use some down time. I mean, she's been kidnapped by an evil vampire race, rescued by the sexiest vamp alive, and charged with creating a cure for a virus that may destroy her sister. Yoga might be good.
4) Immortality for Dummies. Emma is a scientist and thus feels the need to experiment a bit. In Claimed, she was rather curious about how quickly her thumb would heal if she broke it, not quite understanding that these things take time. One of the brothers…(well, you should read it).
5) A personal shopper. Let's just say that sometimes the king gets a little impatient when it comes to clothing. I'm not sure how many of Emma's outfits hit the floor in Claimed, but there were a few!

The Cover for Hunted is Here–want a coverflat?
First, let me say happy holidays to those of you in the USA celebrating Thanksgiving. While I rarely re-use posts, I wanted to show off the cover on my blog as well as the Darker Temptations blog. If this is a duplicate for you…sorry about that! But…I'm giving away signed coverflats to three commenters on my blog–random.org will choose names next week. So…leave a comment.
If you've ever read my blog, you know I'm surrounded by family, which is such a blessing. I'm thankful for my crazy family, my wonderful friends, my terrific readers, my agent and editor, and my writing buddies. I have a few minutes here before I need to go make the appetizers to take to my sister's house and wanted to post a blog today.
Well, I've been so busy with promoting CLAIMED and writing book 4 of the Dark Protectors, I haven't had a chance to show off the cover for HUNTED, which I received last week. Here it is:
Moira Dunne is a witch–the quantum physics kind. Time and space are her playthings. Which might explain why her one-night stand from a hundred years ago has turned up to "claim" her–and request her family's assistance with the war he's brewing. But the more she learns about Connlan Kayrs, the more she comes to think this is normal behavior for him…
There's Nowhere to Hide
When Conn and Moira tumbled on the moonlit grass, Conn hadn't meant to mark her for his mate for all time. She was only twenty! But it wasn't easy to wait for her. It was even harder to forget her. So when he finally returns for his wicked-hot witch, he's ready to let the sparks fly. Even if he burns up in flames…
So…when you get the chance, draft a quick comment below for a chance to win a coverflat. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving? If so, what are your plans? If not, what are you up to this week? Everyone stay healthy and safe!

Sometimes it's the Little Things…
Sometimes it's the little things that just make your day, you know? I mean, I know there are really big things to be thankful for this season: family, friends, health, etc…and I'm really thankful for those. But today, as I got ready for work, the little things just made my day. Here are five:
1) Clean socks. Yeah, I know. But we've been busy lately, and finding a pair, the GOOD pair of comfy socks to wear beneath my boots today was awesome.
2) A bagel. Somehow, even though I haven't had time to hit the grocery store, there were fresh bagels (pumpkin no less) in the pantry!
3) The coffee pot was scheduled. Yeah, this is a huge one for me. I always forget to hit the on button before I go to bed. It was on today!
4) My phone was charged! Like many people, I truly believe, I drop my phone in odd places all over the house and forget to charge it before heading to work the next day. Today, it was right where it was supposed to be in the charger.
5) My gas tank was full. I vaguely remember making a mental note coming home from work yesterday that I needed to get gas today. But it was FULL!
Now, those of you much quicker than me are figuring out that these small blessings come from a really big one. A six-foot-five, dark, very sexy Italian who I live with. Big Tone hit the grocery store on his way home from work last night, folded the socks I'd left in the den, scheduled the coffee pot, found and charged my phone…and put gas in my car after taking our son to bball practice last night. All without saying a word.
So…in this season of being thankful, I am SO THANKFUL for big Tone. Everyone should have a sexy Italian in their house.

How Many Architects, Electricians, Geologists and Senators does it take to solve a 7th Grade geometry problem?
So, I've been pretty busy with Hunted copy edits, but just had to share. My husband (Architect # 1) was at a basketball practice with one of his partners (Architect # 2). They received a text message from my brother-in-law (Electrician) who was trying to help my seventh grade niece with her homework in geometry.
No…I don't remember what the problem was. Something about three corners of a square in a rectangle, or something like that. Well, the three men couldn't agree. So my husband contacted his other partner (Architect # 3), who came up with a completely different answer. (Keep in mind, this is while basketball practice was going on, and these guys are the coaches.)
So, Hubby texted his uncle, who is a geologist. The geologist was at a political dinner with a bunch of state senators. He and two of the senators (one Democrat, one Republican) sketched the answer out on a napkin and forwarded it to my husband. YES. Bi-partisan politics is possible…if we're taking about 7th grade geometry.
Well…they all came up with what they thought was the answer (3) and sent it to my brother-in-law. My niece got her paper back yesterday…and the answer, was, ah, 5.

Today's My Birthday…
The secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age." Lucille Ball
Yeah, it's true. November 14th is my birthday. I'm a Scorpio. The family went out to dinner last night for both Steph and my birthdays (hers was the 8th). Today is also my nephew's birthday–what an awesome present he was ten years ago!
I've had a lot of great birthdays. Okay, not A LOT. But a few. Though it's the odd ones I really remember. A waiter accidentally dumping an entire pitcher of ice water over my head when I turned eight. I was wearing a cute green and white dress that had a cat in the front. Odd that I remember that. My first slumber party when I was twelve and we got snow in. The first time I tried tequilla - when I turned 21. Still don't like tequilla.
Anyway…I'd like to celebrate today. One commenter can choose either a signed copy of Fated or a signed copy of Claimed from my blog this week. Just leave a comment. What was your favorite birthday?
