Toastworthy Teens! Joey Prusak

How about a heart-warming story on this icy cold day?

Maybe what Joey Prusak witnessed while at work in Dairy Queen wasn’t a major crime, but it sure violated the law of human decency. When a visually impaired customer unknowingly dropped a $20 bill, the woman in line behind him wordlessly picked it up and put it in her own purse!

Find out what happened next:

Please Welcome Lorena Bathey, Author of Beatrice Munson

In my first novel, Beatrice Munson, food has a big part in the book. It's a novel about women, friendship, love, laughter, change, chocolate cupcakes, and even Bunco.

That's just the tip of the iceberg really. Beatrice Munson, as a character is loved by all who read the book. She's a big personality whose defining moment in life was to either travel to Egypt or get a boob job...she chose Egypt.

Toastworthy Teens! Miranda Fuentes

If you live somewhere cold like I do, you can use this story of a sunny teen today:

Miranda Fuentes may not have founded Surfers for Autism, but she certainly took it to the next level. When she discovered the Florida-based group that uses surfing as a means to enable autistic kids to blossom, she herself was struggling to communicate with her own autistic brother. Surfers for Autism was able to help Miranda’s brother open up, which in turn strengthened their sibling relationship.

Please Welcome Cat Cavendish, Author of Cold Revenge

You've heard the old saying, "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Well, what if revenge was an actual dish being served?

It is in this week's food for thought from author Cat Cavendish:

FOODFIC Look at Beauty

Ever heard of a cloudberry? Me neither until I read this.

Beauty is a variation of Snow White…except Queen Veda is Ana’s real mother, and, instead of using a magical mirror, she continually checks her status as most beautiful in all the land with an actual man. More specifically, she gets her answers from the colors the Beauty Consultant’s eyes glow, and they, like the fairy tale mirror, cannot lie.

Toastworthy Teens! Olivet Middle School Football Team

This week's toastworthy teens (and tweens) are some incredible Michigan footballers who truly exemplify what it means to be a team player both on the field and in everyday life. I am so impressed by all of these young men, from Keith, who can't hug his teammates enough, to quarterback Parker and the other players who devised a plan to return the love, to Justice, who delivers a profound message which I hope all viewers will take to heart.

Anyway, I'm going to stop now and let you hear their story from them, since they tell it best; view the video here:

Please Welcome Frederick Lee Brooke, Author of Doing Max Vinyl

Doing Max Vinyl tells the story of three women setting out to make this the worst week of Max’s life. They wouldn’t dream of doing the things they do if he didn’t provoke them. Sometimes Max Vinyl just can’t help it.

Max’s environmentalist secretary, Tris Berrymore, also happens to be his lover. She joined the company and fell in love with Max because he heads his own computer recycling company. A recycling king, she thought. Until the day she discovers a large part of the computer junk coming in actually goes out on barges in the middle of the night, only to be dumped ten miles offshore in Lake Michigan.

FOODFIC Look at The Mad Scientist's Daughter

This week's FoodFic reminds us how delicious the world looks through young eyes!

Did you see that subtitle? A Tale of Love, Loss and Robots. You knew that’d compel me to look inside to find out what these folks are eating! (Yes, the lovers and the robots.)

Turns out the foods that caught my attention weren’t begin eaten at all but merely seen, like when the fall “sunlight caramelized.” After that all I could think about was a caramel sun...
