First Review for Knit Together!
I just got my first review for Knit Together (March 24, 2014) from Kirkus and it's delightful! Here are a few highlights:
Kirkus writes “The bespectacled mother, her daughter and a little dog are colorful characters rendered with a bit of digital help in a mix of gouache, colored pencil, ink and collage against a white background. Swirls of yarn, a typeface that resembles handwriting and smiling cartoon faces add up to a lively and enjoyable story about sharing hobbies and good times. . . . A warm family story.”

Kids Lit in The Catskills
I just came back from an autumn retreat in the Catskills with fellow author/illustrators. The scenery was awe inspiring (second only to the company). Below are links to the hotel, which is a must stay, and to everyone's work:

I'll be back just in time to present for the first time at the Brooklyn Book Fair on Sunday September 21st at 1pm. In the meantime, I'm working on Marta, Big and Small (Roaring Brook Press 2016) and my new story How Do You Say? (Henry Holt 2016).

Sketchbook and Good News!!
Here are some sketches near my new studio. Also good news, I just sold a book to Henry Holt, who I worked with on Maria Had A Little Llama. I'm excited to be working with them again on another book. I'll be sharing more in future, but here is just a few of the thumbnails.

Doodles and Exciting News
As I was sketching in local coffee shop, I received a news from the amazing Julie Danielson that I was selected by Elizabeth Bird (contributor to School Library Journal, author, and NY Librarian) as one of the ten children's illustrators to watch out for. It's very rewarding to be on the same list with people I admire.
