The Fab Four in History Today
Many thanks to The Two Nerdy History Girls for the link to this video via Twitter of The Beatles live appearance on The Ed Sullivan show on February 10, 1964. I adore their music and almost swooned when at long last I could purchase their songs on iTunes!
Don't they look adorable?
In honor of this historic day, I'm giving away one free copy of my debut historical romance HOW TO MARRY A DUKE to one lucky commenter. All you have to do is tell me why you love The Beatles and name at least one of your favorite Beatles songs. US & Canada Only Please!

Laurie London Takes a Bite Out of the Paranormal Romance World!
Mark your calendars! In eight days, debut author Laurie London's paranormal romance BONDED BY BLOOD is officially available in bookstores and in online stores such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. When Laurie first told me about BONDED BY BLOOD, I just knew her novel was going to be a huge hit. Just remember I made that prediction, Laurie! Check out that HOT cover. Whew, where's my fan?
I'm so excited about Laurie's debut! We met via a wonderful and supportive writers' group that helps authors meet their goals. And we sold within six months of each other. While we write for different publishers and in different sub-genres, we've had a blast sharing our experiences via phone, email, Facebook, and Twitter. Because we're newbie authors and good friends, we laugh over the times we feel clueless and cheer wildly for each other's good news. Today, we decided to swap covers of our books and share our friendship with all of you.
Laurie is giving away one copy of BONDED BY BLOOD, so be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win!!!

Guest Blog with Beverley Kendall: The Origins of My Book Titles
Happy New Year! I'm really excited to feature Beverley Kendall. Check out the gorgeous cover for her fabulous new book A TASTE OF DESIRE out now! For those who might not know her, Beverley is the genius behind the wonderful romance blog The Season for Romance. You can check it out here: http://theseasonforromance.com/. Enjoy – and don't forget to leave a comment as Beverly is giving away a copy of her new release to one lucky person. Take it away, Beverley!
Unlike my debut release, which started out as An Honourable Rogue, then went on to A Midseason Night's Folly (a true Shakespeare moment) and then A Lady's Compromise. When it was contracted by Kensington, it was A Lady's Compromise. I thought it was an absolutely appropriate title. My heroine was a lady and she was compromised. Seriously, does it get any better than that? I thought not, however, my editor, and I would also imagine, marketing, thought something else…as in my title would not fly.
Being as clever as I am, I decided to hit my editor up with all my past titles. Nope. She did not like. She thought Secret Lovers would be apropos. I just about thought I would die. I emailed her back and very tentatively asked if that title was written in stone (as the 80s same named song played over in my head). She told me if I could give her another one—better, sexier—nothing was written in stone.
I then breathed a sigh of relief and then went on to send her approximately 50 title suggestions. Sinful Surrender was one of them and she took it. I breathed a huge sigh of relief because it was one of the better ones that I liked. Only after we settled on Sinful Surrender did I realize Secret Lovers was never a serious title but her way of getting me to think and come up with something good.
Unlike Sinful Surrender, however, I didn't have a plethora of names for the second book in the series. It was always The Gauntlet. I really had a hard time imagining it being published with a different title. The Gauntlet suit the book to a 'T'. You see the heroine publicly—but not purposely—skewers the hero by disparaging his sexual prowess. She essentially throws down the gauntlet, doesn't she? And really, what is any self-respecting man to do? I'm sure my hero was thinking, "Damn, if it wasn't so public, I wouldn't feel this overwhelming need to pick up said gauntlet." Seriously folks, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
After the first go around with Sinful Surrender, it came as no surprise to me that The Gauntlet was also not going to fly. Not sexy enough or romantic enough—this is romance after all. I sighed and resigned myself to The Gauntlet never seeing the light of day and threw myself into the task of coming up with something just as appropriate. By the time I'd sent off some suggestions, my editor had come up with A Taste of Desire and marketing had already given it the thumbs up. I loved the title so there was no argument from me…
So what your take on titles? What are the memorable ones either because they so fit the book to a 'T' or because they're so unique and eye-catching? Or have you read books where the titles just make no sense because they don't seem to have any connection with the story? Comment and enter to win a copy of A TASTE OF DESIRE.
Thanks for having me on your blog, Vicky. I'm most fortunate to be celebrating my release the same time you're celebrating your debut.

The Cover for HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL!
I just had to share my excitement over the cover for my second book HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL coming in early July! The colors are perfect for the summer release.
For those who got (or will get) Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) of my first book HOW TO MARRY A DUKE, you may be a bit confused if you read the excerpt in the back entitled HOW TO TAME A RAKE. While that's a cute title, I fell in love with my editor's suggestion because HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL really fits the book. My thanks to those who have already mentioned you can't wait for Hawk's story. Never fear. The charming rogue & Julianne have quite an adventure in HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL. I know it's a long time to wait, but expect more fun, hijinks, and another cheeky Regency take on modern dating practices.
Only 12 more days until the official release of HOW TO MARRY A DUKE!

Happy Holidays
First, congratulations to all 15 readers who won a copy of HOW TO MARRY A DUKE in the Goodreads contest. There were close to a 1,000 entrants, so thanks to all who have expressed an interest in my debut book!
My blog went dark for a while as I hurtled to finish my second book. I turned in HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL to my editor early in December. My second book features two characters from HOW TO MARRY A DUKE. HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL will publish in July 2011. I've seen the cover, and it's gorgeous. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask my editor if I could post it yet. I know what you're thinking. How could I forget? Call it sleep deprivation.
HOW TO MARRY A DUKE has gotten some wonderful reviews already – check it out on my Booklist page which you can click on at the blog page for easy navigation. If you're reading this on Goodreads, be sure to click on my website link: http://vickydreiling.com/
